This tutorial video introduces the Mental Canvas app in detail and then shows how to use it to create and animate a drawing. In the process, the drawing is divided into different layers that can be freely positioned in three dimensions. Then a camera tour can be specified through the 3D drawing. This round trip can then be exported as a video.
You can easily get the app Mental Canvas in the App Store.
The drawing used in this video is a scene from the new movie Dune.

Oh man that scene in Dune is fantastic
I have been looking for a detailed video for maybe three days and your tutorial has helped me a lot. Thank you so much. Best wishes :D
This reminds me a bit of Color 3D. It’s a game that came out for the 3DS and let you make cool 3D art work.
But mental canvas provides more of course.
Great video❤
How to get curved edges in 3D and how to copy paste ?
Hi, thank you so much for this great tutorial. Is there a chance you could tell me a few quick tips on how to change an object or character’s pose from one bookmark to the next? Like, let’s say I want a character standing in a hallway, and as the camera moves in towards the character, the character changes from just standing there to pointing straight at the camera or something. How do I do that? When I create a new bookmark with the camera closer to the character and then change the character’s pose to make it so he’s pointing, that changes the character in the previous bookmark also. And, when I hide a layer with a certain bookmark selected, it still seems to hide that layer for any other bookmarks as well 🤔 So I was just wondering if you might have a quick suggestion. Either way, thank you for this video!!
Ohhhh - the “enable custom visibility” button 🤦♂️👍😅
Do I need a tablet to functionally use this app. I downloaded canvas last night, I have a huion drawing pad, not a tablet, and I can't figure out how to zoom in and out
I use a tablet to create this kind of animation. It is a combination of an apple tablet and pen. Sorry, but I have no experience with the other combinations.
@@drawtut-learntodraw8819 thank you, yea the website says its built specifically for touch screens
@@tylerkulig6028 I was in the same position!
To Zoom: Hold Alt + Pen
To Pan: Hold Ctrl + Pen
To Rotate: Hold Shift + Pen
Hope this helps
@@thebookofdaniel5837 thank you sooooo soooo much this helps a lot with my project
How can I create a count in mental canavas?
The only way I know is to import or draw some numbers on different layers. Then you can show and hide the layers on the timeline. This way a number appears for a certain time.
