In the “moqueca” (brazilian fish stew) there isn’t curry, basically made with palm oil “dendê”, coconut milk, tomato, onion, garlic, pepper and cilantro 🐟 🌴 🥥 🍅 🧅 🌶 🫑 🌿 The curry is not part of traditional brazilian cuisine.

    • @TwoHungryDiners

Yes, we know it’s made of dende oil. Just showing to our audience that it looks like curry as most of our viewers might be more familiar to curry.

Wow, great video! I was born in Brazil, but my parents are from Indonesia- and the youtube gods just put this video on for me 😄. And eat the feijoada with the beans on top of rice, and farofa; it is delicious! Farofa is basically cassava flour. There’s many preparations of farofa, fried with eggs and tad of bacon and parsley, or even raisins and nuts for the holidays. Brazilians desserts may not appeal to Asians because they are very sweet, but I love them in small amounts. One of my favorites is pumpkin compote with queijo de Minas (salty farmers fresh cheese). Keep up with the good content!💪🏼

Im brazilian, so... about "farofa", there are so many ways to make it (like all other brazilian dishes/foods) all over the country, but the most common, traditional, 99% of it is... "mandioca" flour.. mandioca is a root (some people called it cassava in english, but I think its not cassava, wharever cassava is... though very similar) and indigenous people used a lot here in Brazil, and portuguese colonists learnt with they how to make everything from it, and the history goes to nowadays. We have a lot of things made from mandioca (in some states its called mandioca, in others "macaxeira", its the same thing with diferent names... laso, its pretty common in Venezuela and Colombia and several other countries all over South America).
To make farofa, we "rasps" the mandioca and fries it... ;-)

The North part is more fishy, herbaceous, fruity, more indigenous roots, and the northeast part has more roots on the Africa and Portuguese that came, it has dried And salted meet, fishes from ocean, crustaceans, a lot of food that you could consider comfort food because it's warm and full. Everyone likes, even the ones that doesn't drink soda, almost all of us have a history with it! And for foreign people it seems to taste almost always strange and unique. Oh! One more thing! The barbecue sandwich... In Brasil it is usually not made in this fancy Bread. We call it "X-churrasco" and it is made with a kind of the most common bread here... ( in São Paulo we call it "pão Francês" - "French bread). It's really delicious and at least in my region it is made only with meat and cheese. Thanks for the video!!

I'm Brazilian and I never even saw this bbq sandwiche lol. Also there is not common to have coconut peaces on the moqueca 🤔 Btw nice video! You should try "maniçoba", it is like a feijoada, but instead of beans, there is tapioca leaves. It's my favourite dishe ever, but it's not easy to find even in Brazil 😂

Thanks so much for watching and for sharing the information! We are definitely still new to Brazilian food, I bet the ones we had here are not very authentic, especially for Brazilians but a good introduction for us as beginners to Brazilian cuisine :)

Excellent video! Just an observation about the pronounce for the name COXINHA. You can say like: "KO-SHI-ÑA". I think it's beautiful when people from different languages pronounce words, that we don't translate, in funny ways. Great content!

It's not true that it's also Portuguese, the dish was created in colonial Brazil, and it only got popular in other countries in the early 2000... don't believe anyone trying to say this shares its origins outside of Brazil...

Your pronunciation of 'pão de queijo' is not exactly as it should, but it's quite decent; much better than the typical Engliah accent, for instance.
