@@alejandrotrasierra I believe he was in an awful car accident that left him unable to play anymore. As a musician I can't imagine not being able to play anymore. At least the owner continues to upload Tom's music to keep his legacy going forever!
Thanks so much for sharing this. As someone else said, it's bittersweet to know that he probably won't get fully back to his old self, but I pray he's still living life hopefully.
Thankfully, he is, but unfortunately from the state of him then and now, he isn't gonna recover, I still hate that all this happened to a man who loved playing music and all of it to disappear right then and there
I write from Australia. Have only just recently found Tom & I’m addicted/obsessed! His music brings me such utter joy. His very presence at the piano. I’m find myself mesmerised! I currently allow myself a little Tom concert every day. I wonder, with his acquired brain injury is he able to receive & enjoy the praise he so deserves from his many, many admirers. I’m so grateful to Keeper1st & tdub1941 (& any others) for the many videos posted for the enjoyment of Tom’s vast fan club & followers. I love & honour this very clever, talented wonderful man.
Thank you for posting. Something about Tom - I just love listening. I'm not familiar with any other ragtime players, really, so I have no grounds to declare him the best. But I wonder what folks in the know say.
My heart cries every time i hear tom play. I love it so much. Please let me know how he’s doing? Me and my brothers absolutely love him and would love if there was some way to send him cards or gestures of appreciation
As a teen who has been a fan of Tom and all of his own compositions and improvs for a good while, I just hate it that he had all this ability to play "anything" he ever wanted, off the top of his head, only for it to be taken away in a moment back when.. i'd give up my own ability to hear "anything" for Tom to play music again
I remember when I was in high school showing my mom Tom play the mario theme songs, but was devastated to hear about the accident. How is he doing now days? Could you give us an update?
He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Scott Joplin International Ragtime Foundation last year. Since 2020 he has been under care of his parents. He can play piano a little with his left hand. Speech is very limited, and he lacks short-term memory, though will remember things once they become long-term.
Thanks so much for uploading the video. You must get asked about Tom a dozen times a day. I know what the answer is, but perhaps it's time you posted an update video - just you talking to the camera, saying all you know, even though it's not great news? That way, people can watch the video instead of constantly asking for an update.
New Tom footage always feels so bittersweet, man. Tom was such a great pianist. A true inspiration for me, for real.
Was...?? ☠️
@@alejandrotrasierrahe is physically incapable of playing piano now afaik

There is. Address is in the Tom-updates channel of the Discord server, or on the old CaringBridge page his family had used to post updates.

Hi, What is the name of the instrument that the woman on the right plays?
It's a washboard, with some other instruments attached to it
Is tom still alive!??
Yes - just incapacitated.
