Yes the MLA30s can throw out too much gain under some conditions, so cutting the gain is a real good idea. Also if you are comparing the 2 antennas, separate them as much as you can to prevent inadvertant interaction between the 2. Very useful idea.
@michaelagner4355 Mahalo for your post and Thanks for Watching. I am limited on my space here in my condo so the furthest I could separate them was 12 feet. That's how far apart they were for the videos. I posted some pictures of them right next to each other but that was just to show the physical differences. 🤙🏻
After watching your video, I went outside and made the adjustment on the active loop box mounted on the fence, it seemed to change the reception for the better and killed some of the noise on the radio. Still in the testing phase but it seems to work, thanks for the tip.
@radio645 That's great. We were just there in May. I just started into Shortwave a few months ago. Since I live in a condo, I am very limited in my antenna choices. I've been very happy with the MLA-30+ antennas.
UK Amazon are selling blue light version on Prime £38.99. They also sell others direct from China suppliers with UK warehouses. I am surprised a different colour light gives a different signal strength though, any idea?, the ANT Power on button only should work on USB Charge, so if you are using a SDR with a bias T use that then it should not come and unless another component has been changed there should it affect the signal?
@steveblanchard7293 Thank You so much for watching and your comment. The thought on the color is that it's a different manufacturer so different parts and made differently. So not just the light color causing the difference but the light can help tell the difference between the two. It's not a charg. It's a power supply. So, no power if not plugged in.
Thank you so much. You inspired me and I finally ordered one.

@radio645 Thank You for watching!! Keep me updated if anything changes. Aloha🤙🏻
@@Ponokaiguy sure will! I lived on the Big Island in 2007 for a while, wasn't into radios at the time.
