  • Eland Trophy hunting is in the mountainous areas of the Eastern Cape. Eland is the largest of the Spiral Horned family in South Africa. Older mature males can weigh up to one ton and can be very difficult to bring down.
There are no seasonal restrictions on Eland in Eastern Cape, South Africa. Nick Bowker Hunting offers Eland trophies year-round.
A trophy Cape Eland will cost around $3000. See our current south African hunting price list. Eland can be added to any of our hunting packages.
Included in the Eland trophy package is a licensed hunting guide. As well as a hunting license and all permits.

They can go anywhere. They are high-fenced. But are resident in the Bedford mountains. So, around half a million acres.

@@nickbowkerhunting-africanh7134 The fenced property is 500,000 acres? That's really impressive!

Why stalk any game into the sun makes no sense at all. Looking out of the sun gives the game a more distinct or a more prominent image of the hunter. Then the bynox, specticles, and the scope reflect the sunlight. Warning or spooking the game to take flight.
This is why the herd looked spooky to me. Then, to shoot into the sun with a scope, just one small view into the sun could cost you your eye sigt.
I can not understand taking a pot shot into the herd...
I might sound a bit critical or negative, but this is my hunting experience in plains, semi desert and bushvel hunting

The wind is what matters. You have to stalk in to wind. If that is in the direction of the sun not much to be done. You need to deal with it. The hunter is from the US and traveling 40 hours to get to Africa. He therefore has limited time and opportunity. The bull was chosen and that was the one shot. No other animal was hit. Granted took a few shots. So not sure how you think they were just shooting in to the herd as that’s not the case.
