Пятикратная олимпийская чемпионка, 14-кратная чемпионка мира Кэти Ледеки обновила мировой рекорд в плавании на 1500 метров вольным стилем. На соревнованиях в Индианаполисе 21-летняя спортсменка показала результат 15.20,48, что на пять секунд лучше, чем ее же предыдущий мировой рекорд.
Предыдущий мировой рекорд на этой дистанции был ей установлен в 2015 году.

To put this in perspective, this time would have gotten her into the finals for the men's 1500 m free at the 2020 olympic trials. Had she raced in the men's 1500 m at the olympics, she would have been 25th place. For men. Incredible speed.
