The absolute dread that comes over both of their faces. This is one of Tom best roles ever. My hands and jaw were clinch through this whole scene the first time I saw it.
Yeah my sweet cousin Marv. I knew it was over at that point. The real Bob was coming out. Deeds had absolutely no idea who he was screwing with. And who handled Marvs problems for him
@davidpelland4865 Marv's pride is what ultimately cost Eric his life. He warned him but didn't exactly specify that Bob was the one that did his dirty work.
I thought Deeds was the one handling Marv's problems the whole time! But there was something off about Bob. He was way too calm and he never smiled or laughed at jokes. And the part where he was wrapping up the severed arm confirmed it. But I still didn't see this coming.
"You see where this is going Eric?" "Yeah,Kid had to be Ripped Off" "No,Kid had to be Killed" This is another small hint that Eric is a pure Bluffer The very idea of killing to cover his tracks never occured to Him
This was a great movie. Tom Hardy is an amazing actor. When Bob started telling the story about how he killed Richie Wheelan, I knew the wannabe tough guy Eric was in trouble. He was messing with the wrong guy all along. I was always pulling for Bob. Bob was actually the toughest of all of them, but his love for that puppy, and his respect for women had me on his side from the beginning. He was willing to pay 10,000 dollars to Eric to keep the dog. Instead, Eric made a fatal mistake in the end.😁😁. Again, great movie.
It's always the quiet ones you need to worry about. Did anyone else catch on that Bob deliberately mentioned the watch because he was on to Marv's game?
@@LoudaroundLincolnKulinski wasn’t involved with anyone other then his own demented mind. He may have bumped into people but nobody has ever attested to him being part of anyone’s crew or hired by them.
@@bc_1865Kulinski definitely was involved with the DeMeo crew. But I totally agree that he was demented and any stories he tells are almost certainly half truths at best. I think this scene might be referencing the 'Gemini method'. But a lot of killers have used similar routines.
What I noticed and I haven't heard anybody else say they did, is Bobs 10 grand for the dog is the money he and Marv "split" when Bob murdered "Glory Days". I say "split" because Marv treated Bob like a chump and took 12 of the 22 for himself leaving Bob 10 . Bob saved his 10 for the rainy day that came his way. Anybody else pick up on that?
i havent thought of that, nice catch. i would think he did not save it but more like he did not want to spend it since it was stolen money from a guy he killed, a lot of guilt. And probably why he was so eager to give that money up for a good cause like saving the dog, it gave that dirty money a purpouse
i love how he still tries to convince him that *he* killed Richie even though bob just got telling him, in detail how he did it and why he did it, as opposed to himself who just likes casually walking around telling everybody he killed richie whelan, without giving those same details. and it's especially funny because earlier in the film, when Eric calls Marv, marv straight up tells him "i know what he seems like, but do not fuck with him" in the words of Blackmore from The Suffering "Bluster is the tool of the sucker player"
I just watched it again. This needs to be put in one of those Roadman meets a real gangster. The scene where Eric thinks he’s going to stand over him and rob him . Bob coldly kills him and tells his girlfriend “he was going to hurt our dog” one of the best mafia films ever. Along with Kill them Softly really dark and brilliant stuff
"There- There are some sins that you commit that you can't come back from, you know. No matter how hard you try, you just can't, you know? It's like the devil is waiting for your body to quit. Because he knows, he knows that he already owns your soul. And then I think maybe, you know, there's no devil. You die, and God he says, "Nah. Nah, you can't come in. You have to leave now. You have to leave and go away and you have to be alone. You have to be alone forever." - Bob -
Loved the way she said “Yeah” just terrified for Bob and her trying to cool the situation. Poor sweet girl was about to get a things aren’t as they appear lesson
So many great details in this scene. When he uses the sentence "a viable business opportunity" we know that he's telling the truth cause Marv had already used that sentence before in another example and it instantly gets the viewer into the "oh shit" mindset.
Luckily, i‘ve already seen the movie, but i would change the title and put an spoiler alert to not rob unknowing people of their experience. It would be a shame for that fantastic movie, too.
If noone knew who Tom Hardy was, and he studied this area well and then you walked into that bar he'd probably completely fool you as a local. The haunched shoulders n shit. Damn.
Bob was alone for most of his life, because at the end he said "if you sinned bad, God wants you to be alone". This is because he killed Richie "Glory Days" back in the day. Throughout the movie, it is mentioned between Bob and the cop, that the church they frequent is being closed. In their last conversation, the cop says the church is officially closed and probably a condo building will replace it. At the very end, the girl decides to be with Bob, despite everything, and we hear her shoes hitting the pavement. This, combined with the church closing, means that there is no God, which means Bob doesn't need to be alone for his sins. No God = No sins. Life is a card game. You play good, you win; you play bad, you lose. Nothing more to it. Nobody will judge you. In my opinion, this is the deepest layer of the movie.

It's crazy how efficient his method of body disposal is. A prequel to this movie would be dope.
It's called the Gemini Method made famous by Roy Demeo and his crew
@randomuser7395 was that the same gang that Kuklinski was involved with?
