hi im a rode user as well may i know whats your audio interface? and what is your interface mic gain is it set to 12 oclock, 11 oclock or 11 oclock etc. your response will be highly appreciated
@@eunarkofficial Hey! So the interface I use is the Scarlett 2i2. When recording verses I usually have the interface set pretty much exactly at 12 oclock. When I get into the chorus or other powerful parts of the song it kinda depends, but definitely less than 12. Probably like 10 or 9. At softer parts, like when i'm using my falsetto, I usually either keep the gain set to 12 oclock and get really close to the mic for proximity effect, or I set it a little higher to maybe 1 or 2. Also, there is an "air" setting on that interface that is supposed to make you sound breathier, but I keep it off because it sounds more like fuzz to me. Anyways, hope that helps. By using Starmaker, this version is found to have key lowered by -4 from the original version. The highest note in the original is D5 which is scary for most male singer. This version has highest note of A#4 which is although in the vocal range of tenor, can be hit by some baritone using chest voice only, like this guy displays here.
On Starmaker, I lowered the key by the same amount (-4) too so as to hit the highest note.
I remember hearing you and Dylan Geick sing and I was like “holy shit they can sing” so when seen you on my recommendations after hearing the song from Kelly it just proved my statement, you literally have an amazing voice!

No hate, this is a genuine question for someone learning recording techniques and video editing. Is this pre recorded and then mimed too for the video? I always see videos like this what don't seem to sink to the audio? At the start it seems the mic stand is kicked etc yet no sounds?

Thanks for the Q! And yes! There are a few ways you can do it. This way is best if you want the highest quality audio possible because you can do it in multiple takes and get the track as perfect as you want it. The other common way is to record the audio and video live on camera, and then just mix the audio afterwards. That way is probably faster and obviously the video and audio sync up better, but it may not sound as good as you want it to, and it can be very frustrating dealing with background noise, people talking, fans, heaters, etc. in the background while recording. It also can take many tries to get it right, so it can be a hassle, which is why I just go with the first option. Hope this helps!

Hi Brae!!! just wanna get your attention. How far is you lips to the mic while singing on the soft verses and how far if your singing on the loud chorus.. and how do you tweak your gain in your audio interface? For example is it 3:00 oclock, 12:00 oclock or what?
Hi. So, it all kinda depends on what sound im looking for. If I want the soft parts to sound more personal and intimate, then I'll turn the gain down to about 10 or 11 oclock and get about 3 or 4 inches from the mic and sing softly. Usually I stay about 5-8 inches away though and have the gain at about 12 oclock unless i'm doing a loud part. The loud parts, I usually set the gain to about 7 or 8 oclock and back up to about a foot away. Hope this helps!

Avril wrote this song where the intro lyrics is "When the SNOW would fall down" but Kelly Clarkson wasn't born in a snow so she changed it to "When RAIN would fall down". Recently Avril Lavigne sing this song in her version and recent voice.
