    HARD PILL TO SWALLOW:
    Often the things that bring us happiness in the long-run require that we forgo PLEASURE in the short term.
    Lifting weights can be painful, but the physique afterwards brings us so much happiness that we got there. Working on or at a business tirelessly can be difficult, but when we succeed and get the promotion or the sales it feels incredible.
    Be wary of pleasure as it does not always mean we are on the right path in life. Sometimes, pleasure is exactly what we need to avoid if we are looking to get to the next level of success.

      I needed to hear this today. Thank you. I’m 38 and about to go back to college to finish my degree, and I’m starting to get nervous about being the oldest person in the class. But I keep telling myself I’m doing this for my baby daughter and my boyfriend and myself, to better our lives once I’m done in a few semesters (hopefully). My confidence is usually moderate but the more preparation I do for starting classes the more I’m thinking and worrying about how others will look at me. And it’s like, why do I fckn care so much. But I’m human, and I DO care what others think, no matter how much I try to say otherwise. I don’t think there’s a single person on this earth, even the most detached person, who truly doesn’t care at all what others think of them.
      But anyways yeah thanks for your comment. This stranger feels better after reading it. ❤ I hope you have a wonderful day!

      Does it simply mean to find a job or career you like?
      Because when I watch videos like this all anybody is ever talking about are Jobs.
      To me jobs are not the pupose of life but society tells you all that matters is work.

    "Make your hobby your job and you will never have to work again". I remember my mum saying this to me when I was 5 years old. Since then I've been trying to find my purpose.
    Doing something that triggers your flow state is super important. It shows you that what you are working on is right for you.

      That is a complete lie. Your purpose is really just the thing you’re willing to eat shit for. There’s plenty of days where working on my RUclips is more difficult than others. And it feels like work. But it’s worth it

      @@ColeHastingstrue, just because you love to do something doesn’t make it any easier to do. There are days when you wanna give up, but then I’m reminded why I love working my job. I get to make people happy even if momentary, and that feeling, knowing I made someone’s day a little better, is well worth the work🙂. So whenever I feel the stress and pressures of my work, I’m reminded of that and keep going even when it’s hard. That’s why I like keeping the little thank you notes I get from my clients, it helps to remind me how I helped them and feel that feeling🙂

      If you could not work and you weren't forced to work because of money, would you?
      Most people would say no and they would find other hobbies and things they enjoy doing/spend time with people they love.
      Life could be one big party but instead we're forced to be slaves to corporations.
      And even if you have your own business all your time will be devoted to that.
      Is the purpose of life to work?
      Do you work to live, or do you live to work?

      I turned a hobby I loved into work and monetised it. Worst mistake of my life, I absolutely despise it now, after dealing with a lot of clients and their bullshit.

    As a copywriter working from home, distractions are everywhere. Trust me, designing your environment to get into that flow state is key. It really makes a difference in focus and getting things done.

      @@cosmicabyss7358 work is like 90% of our lives tbh, or like at the very least A LOT lol. So make sure you be focused, also flow is also important for even fun stuff. Also if society or people " tell " you something, think on it yourself, journal it etc, for more understanding.

      @@cosmicabyss7358I don’t think jobs or careers are the end goal or purpose in life, but I do think that some sort of “work” can give you a lot of purpose in your life. “Work” meaning projects or goals that you’re working towards, not necessarily a job.

    So this explains why I enjoy making RUclips videos so much. I find my flowstate when recording or editing videos, creating thumbnails, and searching for the newest and craziest video game mods I can find. I can sit at my computer for 12 hours straight putting my brain to work and coming up with new ideas, and every second of it is bliss. I ignore my friends calls and stuff because I’m so deep in that state. I love RUclips and it’s all I want to do. I will never give up on it

    Thanks for this! I’ve been doing it for a while now and it feels so good. My routine to get into the flow state is:
    Before getting into a big coding task in my job I would drink some coffee and listen to some Cello music like Hauser (he’s awesome). After some days doing this my flow state started triggering a lot faster.
    If someone wants to try I’d recommend putting some music without lyrics, like classical, lo-fi or cello.

    I just 31 a few months ago and was lost and drugged up until about 2 years ago. I kinda fell into meat cutting and kind of got an interest in it and have been working almost 2 years straight without missing days at work. I have a real hard time making plans or goals so I feel happy for where i am today

    6:10 I agree with you on the caffeine statement.
    The problem comes from using too much of it.
    Over the last month I’ve been in hospital and resting from my operation at home. During that time I haven’t used any pre-workout or fat burners. The last month has seen me being less anxious. I still have one or two small black coffees. But outside of that I don’t use any form of stimulants.
    Keep in mind that this is a habit I’ve had for 17years. That time I spent in hospital really changed my perspective.

      @@cosmicabyss7358 that’s your emotional reaction to the current state of things. Life wasn’t easy for anyone, ever. Yet we owe it to ourselves to find peace in the things we do and demand the things we deserve. Trusting ourselves to make decisions in that regard is the first step.
      I’m guessing you faced quite a few betrayals in personal relationships and one of your parents (or both?) didn’t validate your feelings enough while growing up. Just taking a guess.
      Hope you’re finding the zeal in everyday life though!

    My entire work day is a buffering period where I feel agitation. Work has always felt like an obligation despite trying different fields. The cognitive dissonance makes it difficult to accept pursuing flow states.

    Good video, it only further encourages me to work harder. I wonder though if anyone has tips on healthy things to listen to in early mornings.     Hey Cole,
    I can’t stop caring about the culture wars and woke. I live in CA near Berkley and we live in a very in your face leftist area. People put up yard signs with their political beliefs, teachers lecture on topics and give us a politically correct answers rather than giving us an opportunity to chat, and I feel like I’m being watched.
    So I ended up watching all these videos on woke this and woke that. Part of me wants to stop because I know it’s stupid but I think I enjoy being part of a group who feels the same way.
    I know that trans people just want to live and not be bothered just like all of us but my only image of them is from the bad interactions I had and the internet. I know from reading Marcus Aurelius that this isn’t healthy. My freind is worried about how it’s affecting me.
    I have a problem.
    What do I do?
    How can I know if I’m living right?

      From the way you describe this I assume you might be trapped in between political interests. What I mean by this is that you have inputs from conservatives (hence the way you refer to these people as leftists, even though it's not a correlation, and that you feel like being watched-the main bluff of conservatives) but also from democrats (you live in a city where people have on average higher education and thus tend towards policy ideas akin to those put forth by democrats).
      Unless you find it a mission of your own that of changing people's views, you need to not care because you can't change anything. Your voice, unless you do real effort, will be meaningless in the grand scheme of things, so you just go vote (those who don't vote even if they can deserve no right to complain), and go on about your life with your ideas. You will not be liked by everybody, so not stressing about it by ignoring those that don't help you in getting better (random people saying stuff about you due to your view) don't matter.
      By my own definition, I too don't matter in your life.

      I'm similar to you but I would stress to just keep a certain set of views and stick with them. If you find yourself focusing too much on these very real problems then remind yourself that there isn't much you can do if you're not in politics. This doesn't mean you have to become a leftist but it does mean that you should probably take a chill pill. Keep your conservative views but don't make them a huge part of your life. Just vote, provide input when given an opportunity, and move on. If you find yourself really passionate on this maybe make your voice heard in your community, but that's about it. By simply keeping your views you're already doing something meaningful against political correctness and there's no need to do anything more if it causes you stress. :)
