    I'm a rare breed, not only did I like parades, I actually volunteered to do them. Marching to a Royal Air Force band made it so much easier and infinitely more pleasurable!
    Worst parade, and the one I did more times than any other: Rememberance Parade in St. Giles, Oxford. The pace drum beat echoed and many people fell out of step.
    Best parade, and the one that filled me with pride: 75th Anniversary Parade outside Buckingham Palace.

      This Bands, not this Band.....this ist not a single Band, You can see how many bands are playing there combined by the tambour officers walking in front ;).

    What show and celebration the RAF put on yesterday, superb. Dressing, Drill, Music all top class. Its a long time since the front of Buckingham Palace had such a display of top class drill.

      @ken-u3n 6 лет назад +3

      Yes, I'd certainly agree with that. Very sharp and precise. Foot Guards drill, by comparison, these days is sloppy and is nothing to admire. They have fallen by the wayside.

      TheDrummie1 And no tweeds braced too high flapping round their ankles. I’ve been on about that for a while, see how it can be done ✅ And my great uncle was a Grenadier.

      And the majority are tradesmen/women who don't usually do much marching or drill. Top marks

    Added bonus was that the Royal Canadian Air Force have been Mounting Guard for a couple of weeks so this really was an Air Force event at the Palace

    Cavalry of the clouds sounds so much different(better if you will) when played on the march instead of concert band setting. The euphonium sounds off and really makes the entire piece.

    It is my dream to someday come to London and witness these amazing British Military bands on parade. So impressive just on the video, I can't imagine what it would be like seeing it in person!

      The RAF doesn’t have the same WO1 and WO2 rank structure as the Royal Navy and Army, it’s simply ‘WO’.

    As much as I have always hated doing parades, I bet those dudes out front were in absolute turbo boss mode
    The RAF always look sharpest on parade. I dont even caaaaaaare what anyone else thinks about that.

    Dad would have loved this. He wasn't one for "being military" (he was Bomber Command aircrew) but he did enjoy a good band, especially if it was RAF and holding its own against the Household Division. Mind you, he could not march for toffee, proper scuffing, shuffling aircrew. An army sergeant's nightmare.

      Generally a good clue is how many sub Drum Majors there are l;eading the band - here its 3 so this will be the Central Band of the RAF, the Band of the RAF College and the Band of the RAF Regiment
      Hope this helps

      The BBC's grip on matters military is usually dire. Too many snowflakes, not enough veterans there!

      Anubis I thought you wrote snowdrops for minute - surely not! (RAF Police for the uninitiated, from the white covers on their caps.)
