Right 😁 I wonder what pickups he used during this album. It doesn't sound like he had made the switch to Lace Sensors but i could be wrong.

Thanx for the backer 335, I love all Blackmores studio tones.
He plays great on this track, has he got a bit of phaser/flanger in this?
I've never heard anyone nail his studio tones.

@@ravingiron9356 The tone does indeed sounds a bit different than usual on this song so you might be right about that. There is a user called "mgalbu" here on RUclips who has managed to capture his tone very well and it's probably the closest i've seen but it's mostly early Deep Purple and Rainbow songs. I have never seen anyone that has managed to nail his later tones.
I've also been wondering what pickups he used during this time period and i recently read online in a forum that he used Bill Lawrence l-250's and l450's on most of the Joe Lynn Turner albums as well as on Perfect Strangers. Then Lace Sensor Gold on the remaining DP albums and Stranger in Us All.

I've got an AxeFx 2 xl+, bit old but i'm only a bedroom player but it's plenty for me.
This has got to be the hardest tone i've ever tried to copy!
ANY tips on effects, timings, EQ, gratefully received.
I can't get that 'bite' without a thin top end.

@@ravingiron9356 My knowledge is very limited and i mostly use Guitar Rig 7 with some delay and a dual filter effect from Cubase through a cheap audio interface and I'm far from happy with the tone. I have actually been interested in buying either the AxeFx2 or 3 for some time now since I've heard very good things about them and I'm thinking that would be a pretty huge upgrade.
I also sometime use the RB1011 Guitarslinger pedal through my old Vox amplifier and can get a pretty good early Rainbow tone by just using that pedal together with some reverb and delay. It could be worth looking into that pedal!
