I saw Lea do this live in the theatre. I swear, the audience didn't breathe. One of my all-time favorite theatre moments. Yes, she's perfect.

And I thought in my mind she was so fixed as Eponine, then I saw her as Fantine and she convinced me all over again. She was mesmerising!

I did not know anything about Miss Salonga at the time I went to see Miss Saigon, but after seeing her life on stage, it blew me away, have been a fan ever since! Great memories!

Best commentary and description of Lea's performace on every role she play. She's always into the scene and into her character and she always drag you there with her performance! Very rare talent.
Lea has one of the most precise pronunciations on Broadway, she's a little famous for it. Her enunciation is ALWAYS flawless, it's been that way since she was 16 in Miss Saigon. There's a reason she's the only one who's voiced two Disney princesses: she's not just one of the best voices on Broadway, she has some of the best technique in the world. Watch her jaw. Her shaping is impeccable. Her pitch is impeccable. And it''s so sustainable. Decades later, she can still make these sounds. There's a GOOD reason she's legendary on Broadway.
She's a living legend. I hope she lives a long, healthy, peaceful life. I wish I could meet her someday, it's my dream.
Part of the reason for that is because when she was auditioning for the role, she was under alot of pressure to be perfect since she was one of or the onlt Asian auditioning for the role. She said in an interview that many people wanted her to mess up the audition, that many were hoping she'd fail. There was alot of racism in musical theater back then.
She was actually 19 when she started doing Saigon. :)

I don’t like musical theatre. I’ve been to a few and I just don’t like them. I’m not sure why, but I love this performance. I watch it over and over and it never gets old and depending on the day it makes me cry.

The dream cast. 10ht Anniversary concert is the best thing ever. I've seen de dvd like one milion times. Every performance is amazing. The best Eponine, the best Francine, the best Marius (his Empty chairs...), the best Javert and, of course the best Valjean.
Lea is not playing the part of Eponine, she IS EPONINE! At least in the way she portraited her every emotion
@@HofTheStage yes, same thing with all the actors in that concert. Michael Ball IS Marius, Colm Wilkinson IS Valjean (actually both were on the original cast, they created the characters). Really, you should watch the full concert if you haven't donenit, plus, is a dramatized concert, so it's almost like watching the play... but with the best cast possible!

You are right! I saw Les Miserables live in theater, 10th Anniversary Concert on DVD and 25th Anniversary Concert on digital. 10th Anniversary Concert is the best!!! Colm Wilkinson is the best Jean Valjean.
@@otherJim yes, I saw them all too, also the play in Barcelona and London and, last summer, in London again, Les Miz in concert with Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, John Owen-Jones... It was SO amazing, but nothing can top 10th anniversary concert!

in fact, it is the number 1 banner song of the musical play Les Miserables (that's my opinion)

She's our (PH) National treasure. I've watched her sing live several times and she is beyond great. My favorite video to watch though is her audition in Miss Saigon.

That "I need a moment" part of your reaction where you had to stand up..Yes... Leah's singing has that effect on people. I had the pleasure of watching one of her concerts and she's just incredible. Her songs are like storytelling. It doesn't matter if you know the song or not, when she's the one singing it, you will to "experience" the song it all it's glory. What an artist!
I'm glad you got to see this wonderful performance. I actually heard Les Miserabe from an audio cassette in high school and Leah Salonga's voice was so captivating and mesmerizing without even having to see the broadway play. She's sweet!! I hope you heard her work in Miss Saigon as well! Effortless!
One of her best performances I've seen on stage. I've seen this many many years ago (10+ years ago?) and it never ceases to amaze me how effortlessly she holds that note "on my ow.................................n" 🤩 I always try to sing this and so I felt like that last 'nuh' in the end was me finally catching my breath! phew!

In her audition for Miss Saigon, she asked the director (I think) to sign a Les Mis playbill. She was only 18 years old, and decades later, she was in the dream cast!
The first time I saw her was when she's still 13 yrs old in her show Love Lea, she's my favorite forever. She's excellent beyond compare she's really unique from the rest of Broadway singers.
That was the from the 10th Anniversary of Les Miserables performed at Royal Albert Hall for Queen Elizabeth. Lea Salonga, along with the rest of the cast, are irreplaceable. (Colm Wilkinson is the only Jean Valjean in my book.)

Thank you for finally reacting to Lea Salonga's perfomance of 'On My Own' for the 10th anniversary of Les Misérables! I remember asking you to react on this and, as you now know, it is worth watching and listening to every second of it. I have watched this performance for the nth time and, just like the first time I've seen it, I get goosebumps each time.
Lea is truly a rare gem! I had an opportunity to watch her perform as Kim in Miss Saigon in Manila back in 2000 - and she was AMAZING!!! (You can watch the entire 2.5-hour show here on RUclips on your spare time - Miss Saigon is a must-watch.)
