    Hey Victor,
    I’m planning to do tibia lengthening to correct my bow legs as well, but recently I read a study (“The Association of Tibia Femur Ratio and Degenerative Disease of the Spine, Hips, and Knees”) pointing the higher risks of knee arthrisis if the tibia / femur ratio is too high (average : 0.80).
    As my tibia / femur ratio is already slightly above the average (0.81), I’m a bit worried about those potential risks if I decide to lengthen my tibias.
    What do you think ? Have you ever heard about such risks ?

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  Год назад +4

      Nice find. I do think that the ratio is an interesting but I don't know how much it would affect a real patient unless they're involved in high level sports and lifting due to biomechanical stressors on the joint. Basically I think it would be an overall improvement after your bowlegged correction regardless

    My choice would be tibia. There is only one muscle crossing the knee joint, which should make stretching easier. The lever for sports activities (squatting!) would improve. Having a longer tibia helps with sitting on chairs, public benches etc. because finally, you reach the floor! 😉 My only worry though is that there would be a huge bone gap directly beneath the skin. Isn't that area especially vulnerable then? Hitting your shin during that phase could mean tearing a hole into your lower leg, couldn't it? 😲

    • @Cyborg4Life

    • @kasimirb5155
      @kasimirb5155 Год назад

      @@Cyborg4Life Sure. Over weeks and months. If I understood the procedure correctly, first the limbs get stretched by a certain technique. If the desired length has been achieved, the bone gets time to heal (closing the 8 cm gap). During that time the patient is literally walking on sticks, isn't he? And those can be felt and seen through the thin layer of skin over the shins, I imagine. That's creepy.

      @@kasimirb5155 No, because you are lengthening 1mm per day. You usually adjust it I believe 4 times a day .25mm (which is nothing basically), then your body slowly builds more bone, so that by the next day, you've filled in that 1 mm with bone and are starting the process anew. By the end, you have to let it fully close and then really heal (it takes time for the bone to get denser and stronger). So you're not really 100% but you're not walking on sticks either lol

    I had my femur shortened 6 months ago and the doctor rotated the whole thing around 30 degrees inward and did rehab and everything walking pigeon toed. only to do the same surgery to turn into back out 2 weeks ago. Also I did not get the full shortening I was promised of 1.5 cm for a leg length discrepancy of 1.9 between both the femur(1.3) and tibia(0.6) lengths together because when he put the rod there was about a 0.4 cm gap between the bones. This was done in kaiser so I thought the results would be pristine but I guess I was wrong. What could have resulted in a 4 mm leg length difference is now 8 or more mm difference. Might not sound like a lot but the closer to 0 the better plus the doctor not holding himself accountable for the mistake he did tried to brush it off when he rotated it inward saying it would straighten itself out during physical therapy but I had to keep on bringing it up because no joke that inward rotation on the femur affects mental health and physical well-being altogether.

      Oh man, same here! The new generation is easily 6'7 on average and probably around 6'2 for women these days! 6'0 is absolutely tiny now and isn't enough anymore!
      Today I'm frequently mogged by 13 year old boys who easily clear 6'2 now. In fact, I once got jumped by a squad of 12 year old gang members for simply existing as a poor 6'0 guy. It's very unfortunate out here.
      On tinder women call me little baby boy for being under 6'10. Not only that, my ex girlfriend cheated on me because I stopped wearing my little lifts whenever we went out together. She told me to "be myself". I guess being yourself isn't enough these days. It's 6'7 or go home and die in a pit.

    It is said that the max lengthening is 15cm. But what if I lengthened both my femur and tibia by 12.5cm for a total of 25cm increased height. I’m 163cm and I want to be over 185cm. My legs are very muscular which makes me look shorter. Though I always feel like my legs are actually just plain short because when I stand on tip toe, it looks natural. When I don’t, it looks like I photoshopped my legs to be shorter and it looks kinda unnatural.

      You most likely 'll gain 50℅ of ur pre LL conditions if you lengthen 25cm. This is only possible when u get extremely lucky.
