Painter and decorator. I've had one since they came out about 2 years ago. Very good sander, which became my go to sander. Drawbacks are that you can't get in corners or up to a vertical edge. Also the cost of the sanding discs can work out pricey at times. I normally get about 40 minutes on a 4ah battery. I have since bought the ¼ sheet version (which i night from amazon usa, for half the price) which is now my go to sander. Although the dust collection isn't a good, you can get in corners and up to edges as well as plain mouldings and skirtings. Also you can use the rolls of scratch that work out much cheaper. Battery use is about the same. Had this version been out first i wouldn't have bought the random orbit sander which is more of a bench tool.
Do you use it with an extractor? Really want something with better dust extraction than the Makita version which seems to blow dust out more than collect it!
@@MaxCherry4170 yes if I'm working indoors and I quite a bit of sanding to do. If I'm outside or just doing a little sanding I prefer not to use an extractor as it reduces the portability and extremely quick at up time without.
It’s a decent sander but when we ran it along beside Makita 18v sander we definitely preferred the Makita. Not what I thought since the DeWALT feels so good in the hand. Good video.
I've had one of these for a couple of months and I'm quite impressed. I used it to sand both sides of a pair of oak gates (each 6' x 6' ) and it made a good job of it on one 5 a/h battery. Mine seems a bit noisier than yours though!
i found mine noisier too, its wired tho. Somtimes its loud enough to make me wear ear protection when I know it will take longer than just a minute or two.
Rob Maule if you’re sanding all day, go for a corded, if it’s just for an hour or two here and there go cordless. That’s my motto with most onsite tools
It says on the spec that the rotation is between 8,000-12,000 per minute. Yet, clearly (he says) the disc doesn’t rotate at that speed. Am I missing something? The motor sounds like it’s going round at a high rate but not the pad. I also guess that if it was rotating at 12,000 times a minute it would take off. Even at a low setting of 8,000 revs the pad would spinning 133 times a second. No way it is spinning at that rate. Am I correct?
Hi thank you both for all the good videos they have been very helpful. But i am stuck i am looking for a hover to fix to my tools sander ex. But i do not need one as big as a Dalek but i need it to do the job without cutting out or burning out. I need a GOOD MAKE that is. Please can you help.
Dust port seems a bit of an afterthought, but with the battery in the way what can you do 🤷🏻♂️ Not for me but I’m sure for the occasional users owning dewalt batteries will like it.
@@SkillBuilder thats good news, gone self employed recently although I'm not short of work its good to hear little tips from you guys on how to improve. Looking forward to them.
'Imperial' proper measurements! anyone interested subscribe to the 'Yardstick' and see what the so and so's are trying to do to measurement which needs to keep alive . Abranet , totally brillant and yes I'm a decorator.
Yes it might sound like it but the fact is there is no sponsorship here. We could do with it but the reality is that we are in this because we love you.
Seems a bit pointless , a cordless sander It looks so unbalanced , bulky and awkward looking and any sander it needs a mains vac for extraction .I guess up a ladder outside it may be better
Agreed, i spent a fortune going over to dewalt and it was the worst thing i ever did. Every tool has been repaired broken or got something wrong with it. 3 flexvolt batteries have broken and all in less than 3 years. I’m going back to makita
*Works really **MyBest.Tools** well, and fits hand perfectly.*
I am a big dewalt fan and I got one and it amazing I like because you can use the same batterys
Had one for ages, can’t fault it, the dust bag does actually work well
Dust bag works great.
I just bought one it been so good fast job and good price

One hand for the sander , one hand for your brew 😏. Sanding ..... Always take the rough with the smooth 😆
You got that right!
Beautiful garden
Great balanced review, honest and to the point. That's how we like it 😁👍🏻
Been looking at this for a awhile now. Great review Rodger 👍
Love the content guys, please keep them coming.👍😃
Great bit of kit, all though for me dust bag doesn’t collect as well as my 110v dewalt random orbital sander.
use 1 for removing paint, sanding bondo and epoxy, wood repair paste
sands pritty good
Hi, great video! I don't suppose you know of an adapter that will hook it up to a festool extractor?
There's a tapered adapter for Dewalt's 'airlock'. Unless you can 3d print, you won't find any Airlock > Cleantec adapters.
Had the makita one which was poo, kind of put off cordless ones now
Nice one roger. Can’t quite make my mind up between a cordless sander or corded but this helps.

@@PryorSebastian thanks Sebastian that’s really useful 👍🏼👍🏼
How does it remove powder paint from metal surfaces? Or any kind of paint on metal surface?

How long does a 5 ah with battery last?

I have 18V batteries, can I use them for a 20V MAX tool?
They are the same batteries. American's describe 18 volt as 20 volt because that is the peak voltage for all of 2 minutes
what size is the orbit on this sander please?
Can you use it on plaster
yeah, easy work with this dewalt
Bit off topic but any more podcasts coming up?
Yes we are trying to line them up. We did one but it was repeating a lot of what was said in previous podcasts so we may have run out of steam.

Laughing in the background 😂😂
Battery is not in the right place. My one vibrates badly to the point of being uncomfortable to use.

Punches above it's weight! hmmm sounds like someone got sponsored. Also cordless, with a giant hose hanging off it, really?
Mentorcase everything is going to be ok 👌

DeWalt is poo, do you advertise anything reliable that does not break or stop working after 6 months
Agreed, i spent a fortune going over to dewalt and it was the worst thing i ever did. Every tool has been repaired broken or got something wrong with it. 3 flexvolt batteries have broken and all in less than 3 years. I’m going back to makita
I've used dewalt for years. No problems whatsoever.
Been using Dewalt for about 16 years and wouldn’t use anything else
You really should look after them then
