By the way you pronounced her name super well!! :) And this was a really lovely reaction, I liked a lot what you said about not comparing because it is a journey and you cannot compare what was at the beginning to what is now but you can really appreciate how much talent and passion this band had from the get go (and get really nostalgic about if you've started liking them as a teen like me 🥲) If you liked this one I'd genuinely be so excited to see you dive a little bit deeper into this era, it's very close to my heart and this reaction was great! :) I compiled the suggestions from the other comments plus 3 of my favourite songs (Beauty and the Beast is a song from their very very first album! Live versions from the Tarja era are bascially 'From wishes to eternity' (2000) and End of an era (2005) and theyre both amazing. The male vocalist here is Tapio Wilska, who did guest vocals for them on a couple of songs early on before Marko joined the band in 2001.There is a live version of this from 'From wishes to eternity' which is amazing, and you see Tapio, and you see the band are ridiculously young (early 20s)...its a lot of fun and really cool :) That said, its good that you checked out the studio version too cos the studio songs so often get overlooked by reactors, so its always fun when a studio song gets some love too cos the albums are amazing :) Your comments about very few other bands doing what NW were doing back in 98 - Nightwish, along with a Swedish band called Therion, are generally referenced as the originators of what we now think of as Symphonic Metal, and Nightwish with Tarja helped to create the blueprint for the genre (the contrast between male metal vocals and classical/operatic female vocals), and as such are incredibly influential and opened doors for numerous other bands, and other operatic/classically trained vocalists in the metal scene that followed.
Fun fact 1: Tuomas and Tarja went to the same school and first met when they were 12 years old Fun fact 2: Floor and Tarja are friends and Floor called Tarja personally before joining Nightwish to see if she was ok with it ! Oldschool Nightwish was fast and heavy !! 😊 and the combination between the heavy music and Tarja's rich voice really produced some fascinating music. She was quite young here but already a vocal powerhouse 🎉 would love to se more !!
Oceanborn is their masterpiece and, in my opinion at least, by far the best thing they ever did.

I totally agree - Nightwish is great no matter who sings. The Tarja era put Nightwish on the map and for that we are all grateful. The Anette era transformed Nightwish in another direction which was essential to get to the point where Nightwish is today. I appreciate every era and each singer. My favourite era is however the current.
Thanks for this. 👍🏻 My favorite Nightwish Era is with Tarja. There is a live video in very good quality online. From the ‚From Wishes To Eternity‘ concert a remastered version. Other live videos from Tarja’s Era? The whole ‚From Wishes To Eternity‘ concert and the whole ‚End Of An Era‘ concert for example…😉
I love Fantasmic Part 3 live from their ‘From wishes to eternity’ concert; also if you want to see Tuomas playing the guitar😉😀 Actually that whole concert is amazing!
I consider this one as their first big masterpiece. I mean, the whole Oceanborn album is a killer from start to finish, and Tuomas later said, that after it was out, he felt like he could never compose anything anymore, because he had laid all his creativity in it. Luckily he was so wrong about that.
Good evening 😁, that is the song that made me fall in love with NIGHTWISH. Hmm, 1996 i went to university, äh college, and Tuomas founded a band. His songs came creeping to the campus transported by sauna, vodka, metal and northern lights loving students. I had no chance. And in comparison to today: what a development. Yes, i am old. Thank you for your reaction . Greetings from Germany and Parkinson's sucks but EMPPU RULES 🤘😎 alex .
This was a very interesting reaction😊 thank you! I really enjoyed your pure enthusiasm listening to this. And yes, Tarja has amazing, beautiful voice❤ Now you get to see/hear the whole journey. It all started with Tuomas, Tarja, Emppu, Jukka and Sami. Nightwish was originally supposed to be acoustic band but then Tuomas heard Tarja sing and he was like, no, we need powerful music for powerful voice, hence he formed Nightwish as a metal band. Yes, Nightwish was one of the first metal bands that did this kinda music with operatic/lyrical vocals like Tarja's. Tarja was and still is very influential. She has influenced a lot of younger and current female singers in metal, including Simone Simons from Epica (i don't know if you know them) Tarja is lyrically trained. She has said that she is not an opera singer. For her to do full opera show she would need more training. Nowadays, Tarja has her own solo career, going on for almost 20 years. She was just touring in America, now she is back in Europe. Good songs are Nemo, Slaying The Dreamer and Ghost love score. All live from the concert End of an Era from Helsinki, Finland 2005. Another good live show with Tarja is From Wishes to Eternety
There is a really good live version of this actually! If you wanna go for the older stuff, they recorded a concert in 2000 called "From Wishes to Eternity" where you can see everyone being in their early 20s and it's so great! Nightwish Arena remastered it beautifully!! 🎼 Nightwish - Fantasmic III 🎶 From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered This is a song you most definitely haven't heard yet and it has a great great Tuomas moment in it! :) So fun and energetic, I'd wholly recommend taking a look at some songs from this concert, so worth it!! This one is another one of my absolute favourites: 🎼 Nightwish - Sacrament of Wilderness 🎶 From Wishes To Eternity 🎶 Remastered
Here's a link to the live performance of this same song from 2001 the Wishes to Eternity concert featuring the bands original members. Tarja Tuomas Empuu Jukka Sami Vanska on bass. This is before Marko joined. The male vocals you hear in this studio version are from a guest singer not a member of the band. Someone else mentioned his name. I can't remember. ruclips.net/video/ZpkH187t5Mk/видео.html
So nice to hear the older stuff reacted to. ruclips.net/video/JsAi3_tT0yk/видео.html live version from wishes to eternity. thanks to people like you, USA is finding them! thanks
This is by far my favourite early Nightwish track - it has a heavier feel to most of their stuff, especially with the guest vocalist Tapio Wilska with his growling vocals
I suggest listening to this live. Tarja is best heard live. Yes thst is Tarja's voice in the background. Thus you should hear it live lol. Also, her solo career is ridiculously amazing
Sleeping Sun (2005 version) is a music video, not a live one, but it is with Tarja, the guys, other people and a horse. The thumbnail will give the idea. There is an earlier video, which, I think is more popular, but I think it is a bit weird.
3 different singers but each brought their own thing and the albums with all of them are just amazing, Anette had issues with singing Tarja's songs live and it took a toll on her voice but the studio albums with her are amazing! Tarja was the original with that amazing soaring classical voice which made most of us fall in love with Nightwish, Anette was more pop/rock and her 2 albums were very commercially successful. And what more can be said about Floor - she can sing all the styles !

This is really vintage Nightwish before they added the orchestral parts. This is also before Marko joined on bass but with Tarja on song. The male part was done by Tapio Wilska. He was never a part of Nightwish but was asked to sing on this song and Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean.
Male vocals are Tapio Wilska, he was a memeber of their road crew, and also a vocalist in a band called Finntroll. He also appears on "Devila nd the Deep Dark Ocean" from thsi album, and "10th Man Down". They were very influenced by power metal early on, especially a Finnish band called Stratovarius. i persoanally don't have preferences with the singer in Nightwish, i love them all. For me it's the musical style where I prefer one over the other, and a certain voice just goes along with that style that enjoy the most.
I just love your Nightwish and Sabaton journey. Seeing another person enjoying them makes me smile. May I suggest Nightwish - Sacrament of Wilderness? Also an amazing song but unfortunately not that popular
The ‘go to’ for live performances with Tarja WITHOUT DOUBT is the ‘End Of An Era’ concert - the whole thing can be found here on RUclips along with individual songs from it - ‘The Phantom Of The Opera’ is probably the most viewed and well known - if you haven’t seen it yet, Marko’s singing will blow you away, especially his vocal range in comparison with Tarja….
There is so much to enjoy from NW. All the three lead singers are bringing their own magic to the genious song writing by Tuomas. My personal favourite is Tarja❤, Floor and Anette 😊
@@iina6106 Agreed, he is amazing with all of them, but I personally am sucker for seeing him happy with Floor. They have so much chemistry and that just elevates the whole thing. God I love this band.
Tarja and Marko the other night did Phantom of the Opera together again for the 1st time in 18 years. I suggest you start your Tarja experience with Phantom of the Opera from End of an Era and go from there. It is a song you definitely know, at a minimum having seen Floor's version, which I am sure you will appreciate. Not to compare the 2 singers, who are both spectacular, but just to enjoy!

Tarja has a lot more classical training in Opera than Floor but they can achieve almost the same range both of them. They are however very different in styles in my opinion.
For more from Tarja, Nemo is the song that introduced me to Nightwish when I heard it in the soundtrack of a movie called The Cave. Floor also does an amazing version of it because she's Floor and as we all know, that's just how it works.
All hale the REAL TRUE QUEEN 👑 of NIGHTWISH and of ALL FEMALE SYMPHONIC METAL SINGERS!!!, the very beautiful looking and very unique voice of the enchanting TARJA!!!😀👍👍🤘
I don’t normally listen to old school Nightwish with Tarja. Although I admire her talent her singing style is not for me. But I thought I ought to listen to support your channel. The studio version didn’t have the same impact that I have come to expect from the live performances. I was a bit disappointed with both male and female vocals.
How about going all the way to the beginning? Here is the first song Elvenpath from the first Nightwish album Angels Fall First ruclips.net/video/GwKDj2YALVQ/видео.html.
great song and good reaction....ever since I hear this song I get goosebumps after that part with the flute...master composition ...but what are we expecting? thx🤘
Oceanborn is a masterpiece, it was the first Nightwish album I bought back in 2001, after a friend from Finland sent me an mp3 file with Sleeping Sun and when I popped it in I was completely mindblown by Stargazers, the first track - whose studio version I *strongly* recommend for an upcoming reaction, btw. Years later the band members said Oceanborn was by far the most difficult album to record, Tarja in particular said that it demanded a lot of her voice, and the conditions in the studio where they recorded it were far from ideal. It's a different and much more ambitious sound compared to their first album, Angels Fall First, which was much stronger on acoustic & ambient sounds, whereas the third album, Wishmaster went into a more power metal direction. They are all amazing albums in their own right, but for me Oceanborn will always remain my personal favourite. Other highlights from Oceanborn are, like I mentioned before, Stargazers, which is one absolutely incredible opening track, Sacrament of Wilderness, Sleeping Sun, Nightquest, and The Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, which is very similar to Pharaoh Sails to Orion, all of them deserve being listened in their studio versions.
Hi Daniel. Personally I find this hard work if I am being honest, but I can appreciate the musicianship and Tarja's vocal style. I find Epica difficult to listen to for the very same reasons, but appreciate that all song writers need to begin somewhere.
Arias, you NEED to check out the live performance and sh*t on that sound and video quality, it was filmed 2000 - a time where even potato cameras weren´t invented ... i guess 95% of the Nightwish Army knows 99% of all that live performance videos, and we don´t give a f*ck to the quality just use Gabriel´s link for the *LIVE* version
There isn't a single clinker in the Nightwish catalog, but I just simply cannot listen to Tarja. I despise opera on such a level that it just turns my stomach. I consider it pretentious and stuffy, but I recognize somebody who can perform it well, and Tarja can certainly perform it. She's performing locally, or recently has, and they couldn't pay me to attend, because opera is her only lane. I know she's a goddess to her fans, and I get it, and I'm not trying to disparage any of them or her. It's the style, the genre with which I have issues. Tuomas is, and always will be, Tuomas Holopainen ... the greatest composer of my lifetime, and the song is amazing.
she's doing a whole lot more than opera these days! Take a look at her cover of House of Wax for example, zero classical technique, very contemporary and strong chest voice
I’m going to go see Tarja and Marco 3.8 to Savonlinna, I dont like Tarja at all as a person and just as you, I dont respect her as a singer as much as I do Floor. Tho I have learned to like her in certain songs as Kingslayer and Whismaster, but… still.. even today I was thinking, do I really want to see her live?! Am I ready for that? But I’m trying to see that as an experience that you have one chance in life to see, so I’m going to go there in Olavinlinna castle and try to enjoy the consert. Hopefully we see Phantom of the opera there 👍, because I dont know any Tarjas solo songs at all 😂 🥶. I’m taking my 8 years old doughter whit me, so it’s going to be interestin 🤔. She hates rock and heavy music😅 but I’m sure that as she comes older, she thanks me for taking her there 🤘.
@@SatuMSJaaskelainen-le4sc and here I am, all jealous that you're going to see her live 😃 Go with an open heart. From what I've seen she's super interactive with the crowd so I hope your daughter will have a fun time regardless! 😊
It's very simple, whether like it or not,Tarja is the original singer, with still the more albums with the band. All the songs, even those which your ""beloved "" floor is singing where written for her, so it's hilarious to say she's no good etc Floor is a wonderful singer but she was way better with her songs and that's the hole story. In the end there's no need to always coming in a Tarja 's reaction just to tell your sh@@ . You know if you want my opinion as well i find floor a just good singer and nothing more, neither excellent nor something special. I can a hole "kilo" like her....
@@Tolis_thrylos7 I'm never surprised that Tarja fans get butt hurt if anything is said that doesn't praise her glory. You are certainly allowed to not think Floor is spectacular, I won't argue with your taste, but I never said Tarja was not partially responsible for Nightwish's early success, nor did I say she was not talented. (I do believe it is Tuomas' genius of composition that is the foundation of the success of the band.) I claimed that I simply think opera is stuffy and pretentious, regardless who sings it, and Tarja seems to have chosen opera as her lane. Hence I choose not to listen to her. I own all of the albums, and originally found Nightwish when she was their singer. I found a couple of songs I loved, but just had enough of the opera tone and vowel shapes, and drifted away. It's MY taste, not yours, and I choose to allow you your space. We all have our own preferences, and I have the right to express mine, just as you have the right to express yours. Cheers!
I used to be a Nightwish fan back in the day but no longer when tarja turunen was fired because since then they switched so much their sounded in my opinion now is like more symphonic than metal honestly ain't like that you should be reacting to devil and the deep dark ocean next is from the same oceanborn album
My recommendation for a Tarja live song would be "Bless The Child" from the End of an Era DVD in 2005. For two reasons. #1 it's awesome. #2 You haven't done Floor's version yet.
If you want to have live Nightwish - Tarja songs, do: Walking in the air (ruclips.net/video/9icKP1b44TA/видео.html) & Wish I had an Angel (ruclips.net/video/7aNW6LEmK5Y/видео.html)
Hahaa, dont listen to NW enymore but if one check out just a few reactionchanels its unavoidleble. I was a huge NW fan back in the days when it was metall and im still a metallhead. things evolve with time ofcourse and only 2 og members left so.... little sad that its more musical than metall nowdays but there is allways old gold to go back to
I like how the keys were so prominent in this song. You are going to want to watch pretty much all of the End of an Era show before you do Poet and the Pendulum, so grab any song you like from that one. I know the others will give you more direction. I look forward to watching you explore Nightwish's beginnings.
Great reaction. You have some great Dutch people on your channel like Floor from Nightwish , Simone from Epica and even Johan Cruijff the soccer legend. As you might know the kickboxing heavyweight champion of the world sins 2014 is the Dutch guy Rico Verhoeven. But there is a guy from Holland that is not as famous to the big audience, but is to the insiders. Ramon Dekkers also known as The Turbine From Hell. How about going all the way to the beginning? Here is the first song Elvenpath from the first Nightwish album Angels Fall First ruclips.net/video/GwKDj2YALVQ/видео.html.
Please please please react to Tarja singing Wishmaster on End of an Era live. That is her song! Incredible!
Its all part of the journey and getting to know Nightwish. I loved the piano parts. Im a pianist so there's that 😅
Thanks
great song and good reaction....ever since I hear this song I get goosebumps after that part with the flute...master composition ...but what are we expecting? thx🤘
Try Sacrament of wilderness!!! Same album or 2000 live wishes tour! 😊😊😊
Hi my dad loves your channel
Cheers Dad! Lol! Much love!
@@AriasandtheNATION 😁 My dads’ name is Scott! I think you guys know each other!
@shayna12345 Scott? Probably.. the world is a vast place and I have visited many areas... say salutations to your father
@@AriasandtheNATION I will! I think he was on your live today, Scott from new jersey!
Hi Daniel. Personally I find this hard work if I am being honest, but I can appreciate the musicianship and Tarja's vocal style. I find Epica difficult to listen to for the very same reasons, but appreciate that all song writers need to begin somewhere.
😊🇫🇮💙🪄🎼✨💯🤘
🤟🤟👍👍
I'm absolutly with karadenzin!! Very good Songs to Check out.
I online have to add on
Passion and the Opera (same album)
Creek Mary's Blood
Kinslayer
Imo NW w Tarja like w Floor are better live. Try Deep Silent Complete.
Arias, you NEED to check out the live performance and sh*t on that sound and video quality, it was filmed 2000 - a time where even potato cameras weren´t invented ...
i guess 95% of the Nightwish Army knows 99% of all that live performance videos, and we don´t give a f*ck to the quality
just use Gabriel´s link for the *LIVE* version
The band is very different. Only Tuomas, & Empuu are left of the original group.
It's very simple, whether like it or not,Tarja is the original singer,
with still the more albums with the band.
Anything from end of an era concert.. i suggest sleeping sun, phantom, the siren ir over the hills and far away
My recommendation for a Tarja live song would be "Bless The Child" from the End of an Era DVD in 2005. For two reasons. #1 it's awesome. #2 You haven't done Floor's version yet.
Did u mention it's from 1998 lol
Here is the link to the live version from 2000.

He was 8 times world champion kickboxing and Muay Thai in the 90's
A lot of people call him the Mike Tyson from kickboxing.
Watch what Mike Tyson and Joe Rogan say about Ramon ruclips.net/video/oGcAHXOANWU/видео.html
And here is a doc about his career ruclips.net/video/mgDY2lh1fzk/видео.html

Hi. I would recommend “End of all Hope” or “Nemo” live (from End of an Era)
For Tarja Nightwish...see the entire Part 2 of Gabriel's list! The work has been done for you... or just react to all of Dvd's Wishes To Eternity and End Of An Era 2005. When you're ready for Anette, I have some great links.
🇬🇧 Norfolk : glad you went back in time 😊on your journey
