  • The Baby Browning is a tiny 6 shot pocket pistol chambered for 25acp. It has become a real collector item. Very high quality. It was made for over 50 years under both the Browning and FN names.

    I was recently looking around for one of these. I found out that there is a little outfit called PSE that still makes these. They even make engraved and aluminum framed version. Pretty neat. At least you probably won't have trouble getting 25 ACP off the shelf!

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep  3 года назад +3

      I didn`t know the PSE copies were still made. Browning kept on making these up until the late 80s, but they stopped importing them in 1968. Browning also made engraved ones. I saw one last year at a gun show. The sellers asking price was $2,000.

    The other day a man offered me his zip .22 for my FN baby browning. I’m well aware of the failure of the zip but I have seen successful shooting ones. Is this a good trade?

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep  3 года назад +3

      Not to me it wouldn`t be. Right now there is a zip 22, new in box, on gunbroker.com for $325. A Baby Browning in nice condition is worth twice that much. And $325 for a zip 22 is way over priced at that. I`ve never saw one that worked.

    Nice looking old gun but how do you take it apart? Looks a lot like my crappy Cobra.

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep  3 года назад +2

      I`m sure someone has a video on how to take it apart. Seeing it would be easier than telling you how. Make sure it`s empty. Remove the mag. Pull the trigger, don`t want it cocked before the next step. There is a notch in the slide where when you engage the safety it will hold the slide part way open. Pull the slide back just far enough to put the safety in that notch. Get hold of the end of the barrel and turn it counter-clockwise. Then take the safety off and ease the slide off the frame. After that just remove the barrel.
      Sounds more complicated than it really is.

      @1957Shep  3 года назад

      If I was to actually carry something like this as it was intended, just in a pocket, I would probably carry with an empty chamber. Too easy for the safety to get accidently disengaged if it wasn`t in a holster.

    I have heard a lot of "experts" (in other words, RUclipsrs) say ".25 is ineffective for self defense." Granted, it's not a 9mm or .45, but I have yet to see anyone volunteer to let themselves be shot by one. If these experts think it's so ineffective, stand 10 feet away and let me fire a few rounds into them. THEN tell me how "ineffective" it is. I dare you.

    • @1957Shep
      @1957Shep  Год назад

      The 25acp might not be the ideal self defense round, but it would the hell out of a sharp stick. :-)
      Actually, you would probably be surprised at how many home intruders get put off or put down by someone with a lowly little 22 pistol or revolver.
