I went to the Naval Academy. While the academies aren’t allowed to redshirt there is a way that coaches get around this issue and it is the usage of Prep schools such as the Naval Preparatory school. It is a one year prep school before the individual goes to the academy usually to help them get adjusted to military life or if they needed more academic help. Coaches will use this as a “redshirt” year for many athletes to get them prepared for the academy lifestyle and it also doesn’t count against their eligibility. The prep school still have a team for almost every sport the academy provides and they compete against other prep schools or junior colleges. A lot of my friends and classmates who were D1 athletes at the academy attended these prep schools. For transfers, the academy does allow but it is very rare for athletes and not many people do it because they will have to restart as a freshmen unlike if they transferred to a normal college. A few years ago, there was a baseball player who transferred to the academy to play baseball from Florida. He already did two years but when he got to the academy he started back as a Plebe/Freshmen. However he only had 2 years of eligibility left. Another fun fact of why the academies do the option is the fact that they cant recruit big lineman. We have a weight and height requirement and most of the lineman on the football team actually are not in regulation, however, are given an exemption until they finish their first semester of senior year. Then they will have to cut the weight to the standard which many of them do usually by going to the boxing team or partaking in the dieting program by the team’s dietitian. Hope this gave anyone a better insight into the military academies!
When I played at Army in the 80s, There was a player in my class who was a transfer from a D-3 program. He did not play his plebe year and therefore was technically a redshirt. He still had three years of eligibility remaining beginning his yearling year on. This would theoretically work for JUCO transfers, but how many players/students transfer from a JUCO to a Service Academy? That would be an academic jump, not to mention getting the nomination. I do not believe the JUCO or other program transfer would be eligible for the Prep School.

It’s difficult but not as hard as you think I’m currently trying it Currently in second year 3-0 ranked 16 if you get a good 3 star gem QB year 1 it helps
UConn Huskies rebuild idea (from a UConn fan) 1. Only recruit players from A. New England B. New England + New York C. The north east (B + pen and new jersey) Pick whatever based on difficulty 2. Join a conference and win it in the first year 3. Get a player drafted in the first round 4. Never lose a game to Umass 5. Beat UCF by 30+ points 6. Win a National Championship (Day 2)
@DiorShiesty yeah im getting kinda tired of the recruiting limits, like no man i wanna see you recruit 5 star #1 qb to deliware, not some random 3 star
@quinine379 yeah but on the other hand umass is second fidel in there own state to boston college, at least uconn is the most intresting team in there state
Next time you do a military school rebuild I think it would be reasonable to say you can recruit anybody that has you in their top 5. You could say that means they really want to join the military.
For me the nostalgia comes from Bill Walsh's college football. As far as I know, it was the first college football video game, at least that used real teams. There were no player names but the skill levels, jersey, and year made it easy to know when you had Hershal Walker, Deion, Dan Marino, etc. We had so much fun with that game.
You should do a rebuild for Costal Carolina!!!! 1. Only be able to recruit from South Carolina 2. Never lose to Liberty 3. Win the Sun Belt 4. Get a Player drafted in the First Round 5. Win a Natty
TL;DR Military academy graduates do not get an exception to play professional sports. EDIT: See below convo: There is now a waiver that military academy athletes can apply for if they get drafted to the pros, so Bordeaux was correct. I bow to your superior knowledge. 13:36 As far as I know, there actually is no special exception for military academy athletes regarding professional sports. Graduating from one of the military academies comes with an obligation to serve as an officer in that branch of the military for a five year period (usually). The only athlete I'm aware of who ever was granted an exception to this was David Robinson. Interestingly, the exception had nothing to do with him being an athlete. Instead, The Admiral was granted this exception due to the fact that he was too tall to be commissioned to serve on Naval submarines (and perhaps other vessels too). Even with the exception, Robinson still served 2 years of active duty after graduation.
They can apply for a waiver, but they do get turned down most of the time. I can think of two football players that got one. Keenan Reynolds from Navy got one and played a few years at WR. Andre Carter II got one before he got drafted this past year out of Army. But I haven't heard anything about him this season, so he might not have made his team. Either that or he's a backup.
@whalenator69420 Thanks for clearing that up. Really appreciate the good info. I didn't even realize that the military academies had put guys into the NFL. That's amazing, to be honest.
@lDarkhorsel It really is. There have been plenty of military academy guys that have played in the NFL. It's just increasingly rare of late. Roger Staubach was a Navy grad, for example. But he did his service before playing for the Cowboys.
I went to the Naval Academy and had a few classmates who had the opportunity to go pro. They have to apply for a waiver and get approved by the secretary of the Navy. As of recently, he has approved the majority of them. One example is Diego Fagot who went undrafted but got signed as an undrafted free agent with the ravens and patriots. The Navy allows them to delay their service and participate to see if they make the team or not. Diego had a good run bouncing from practice squad and the UFL but decided to call it quits and return to service to finish out his obligation. Another example is Matt Nocita who got drafted in the MLS. He still plays for the New York Red Bulls. Before, it has been very difficult to be granted a waiver, however, with the increase need of recruiting the military as a whole has allowed this special situation to help boost recruiting and publicity towards the service and the academies.
1:05:10 A big part of Championship Contender is your Blue Chip ratio (i.e. how many 4-5 stars you have on the team). Since you're not recruiting any, your ratio is at 0%. Even if you somehow got to #1 in the rankings, your Championship Contender would probably only be a B/B- due to the low Blue Chip ratio.
Military Schools CAN accept transfers and JUCO players. However, they would start as a freshman(plebe) player and would not get any eligibility boosts. They can also red-shirt, BUT when their class graduates, so do they. There are no graduate players, because they do not have a graduate program. The JUCO route would be possible as well, because every player would start as a plebe, probably RS to develop, and then graduate with their class 4 years later. The JUCO could only be a freshman player.
13:38 It is possible. Military school players can ask to waive their years of military service and declare for the draft. It usually doesn't happen since most people who go to military schools intend to do the military service anyways, but the military will likely agree to let you declare for the draft and postpone service until after the NFL since it's good publicity.
@@AEMT-ks4so idk about that since malcolm perry was a 7th round pick, definitely was never projected to go any higher than that. Same with Jordan Jackson out of air force who went in the 6th or 7th round a few years ago.
@@jaye7289 i looked it up cause i was curious. Apparently after 2 years active duty service you can request to finish out your obligation in the reserves
@AEMT-ks4so thats also not how this works. You can literally ask for a waiver from your service obligation and depending on your likelihood to go pro the SECNAV will/wont approve your waiver. People have gotten it waived and gone undrafted and then returned to service. There are no real requirements other than if you dont succeed at going pro you gotta do your time.
Hello Bordeaux, I'm a big fan from Brazil. I'd love to see you rebuild Virginia tech using Davi Belford (The only Brazilian in the game) as a QB You can red shirt him for the first season if you want.

When recruiting for the option, you need to look at power backs for the fb position and use athletes for the half backs. Defensively you can use defensive ends as dt's, and use outside lb's as de's. Use smaller faster linebackers with speed and utilize athletes for corners and safetys. i would go after vertical threat TE's and use speed as much as possible for wide outs.
I’m making a team called the university of East Montana. Located in Miles City, Montana. Mascot are the Lynx. Colors are baby blue, navy, and white. Let me know if you’d like to try them out and rebuild them. I’ll give you the creator code if you’d like. Also if you do, would you want the field normal green or navy blue turf. When you use them they are supposed to be in the MWC and you replace Hawaii to have lots of rivals. Key ones such as Wyoming and Air Force. Work your way up to the PAC-12 and dominate the college football world.
With the rules in modern football making it so easy to pass and put up points, it is hard for the younger generation to get into the mentality of ball control and clock management. It can be fun if you do it right, but it takes a different mindset.
When it comes to military schools and the pros, there are times when the rules say they HAVE to serve after graduation (usually during war time), but for the most part their NFL/NBA/MLB whatever career is seen either as time served as a recruiting tool OR they'll serve in the offseason/after they're done. Some famous examples of military grads who had solid or great pro careers are Roger Staubach and David Robinson from Navy and Chad Henning from the Cowboys who went to Air Force. I think in THEIR cases, they served a couple of years after college and then went on their pro careers, but basically if a player is good enough the government and academies will usually let them pursue it simply because the idea that a guy that a guy can go to an academy and still go pro is a solid recruiting tool for athletic, in shape type guys.
It's not that they can't bring transfers in. They don't bring transfers in because the academies full purpose requires the full 4 years to mold the cadets into future leaders in the military.

Buddy, In my sophomore year as a running back on Road To Glory, I managed to accomplish it. If you do not believe me, I posted on Twitter about the route Navy took to reach the National Championship.
i believe there’s a scrambling penalty so qbs are more likely to fumble on scrambles but that factor isn’t present on designed runs. or it’s at least toned down a lot.
EA needs to explore ideas to make rebuilds more difficult. As we've seen here and with multiple other examples, there is a simple and easy formula that almost guarantees a NC within 4-10 years. Maybe they need to cap coach abilities, program the AI to exploit match up differences, or have randomizer events that go against the user more often. When you can take any team and win it all without fail time after time, is it really a challenge?

Day 85 of asking for a Minnesota rebuild
Yes my favorite team sky-u-ma😂
i believe there’s a scrambling penalty so qbs are more likely to fumble on scrambles but that factor isn’t present on designed runs. or it’s at least toned down a lot.
