    THUMBS UP if you have ever rebuilt a CV joint or replaced a CV boot.

    Thanks for checking out the video. I know a lot of people these days just replace axles because it’s easier but there are many cases where repairing one makes sense. Even if you replace your damaged axle with a new one it’s not a bad idea to repair the damaged unit to keep around as a spare. The most obvious reason to repair is often the cost savings, especially if you damage a relatively new axle, which happens. With many axles these days having decent warranties, that too can reduce the need to repair. However, if you are on a budget or you ride an older machine, or maybe you have 4 or 5 old broken axles laying around, you can often take those 4 or 5 axles and make 2 or 3 good ones. There are also times when something breaks and you need a quick solution and can’t wait for a new part to arrive. I wanted to make this video to show how easy it is to repair and service a CV axle as I’ve had discussions about this topic many times in the past. I hope some of you find this video helpful and informative. Lot’s more shop and riding content heading your way!

    Thanks for taking the time to show the face of the inside small race faces. I rebuilt my CV joint and it acted like it was seized. But after watching your video, I could see that I had the inner race inside out. I took it back apart, flipped it, put it all back together and it is smooth as silk. Thank you for the detailed video.

    Popping the little circlip, never thought of that. All the videos I've seen have popped the big inner circlip to remove the joint for cleaning and that's the way I've done it. I may try this way next time we'll see ..... Thank's.

    • @AdrenalineJunkieProd
      @AdrenalineJunkieProd  4 месяца назад +2

      There’s often a few ways to go about a job. This is my favorite way of doing it and I feel it’s the easiest. I always avoid taking apart the joint more than I have to. I don’t like removing the balls and cage unless there is a reason. I feel it all wears into itself and if you just need to do a boot or clean the joint it’s best to leave it assembled as much as possible. Popping that little clip is easy as long as you hit it properly and direct the impact energy where it needs to go. That’s why I use the piece of metal.

    On the x3's oem axles aside from the boot kit it makes more sense to just replace the axle, one end cup cost like 10-20$ less than a complete shaft

    • @AdrenalineJunkieProd
      @AdrenalineJunkieProd  4 месяца назад +1

      That's absolutely ridiculous. OEM parts prices make no sense. They do this on purpose. I guess I should have mentioned in more detail that when I talk about saving money it's usually on aftermarket axles. The prices for parts on the SuperATV axles are quite reasonable. I know for brands like RCV you can also buy each individual component inside the axle so you only need to replace what broke. I've owned my RZR for over 7 years now and probably have 10 spare axles laying around. For me it makes sense to grab a few used axles and make a good one out of them or replace one joint or a boot. We have had times when someone in the crew breaks an axle before a ride and they call me up knowing I have a ton of parts on hand and I toss them 2 or 3 used axles for free and they assemble a solid used unit to get them back in action for the upcoming ride.
