Just a tip... you can always use a paper plate slightly rolled, to fit your jar, as a homemade funnel. We are the examples our children see. So many children aren't as fortunate, not having the proper examples, sadly. I've always tried to set good example for my children and raised them both in church. As they grow they will of course take their own paths in life and all we can do is pray, pray that our examples were enough. But the word says to raise them right and if they go astray, they'll return. I know that to be so true! But covering our kids with prayer is a must for sure! Let us know how the detergent works out! Enjoyed😊

I've made both liquid and powder. I think liquid has been my favorite between the two, as I've noticed the dry leaves a residue on our laundry. I have also started using vinegar in place of fabric softener. It leaves our clothes softer and is good for keeping our washer free of any hard water deposits. Thank you for a beautiful video. God bless!

I prefer liquid detergent just because it incorporates into the water easier for cold water washing but I use powder as well. I use about a heaping tablespoon of powder detergent and I just buy tide or Gain. I have to use a HE detergent for my front loader. ~ Janet 😘

I tried warning my friend about the homemade laundry detergent. She made the powder not the liquid. She had an HE Washer and Dryer. It ruined her 3 year old washer. The powders mixed were not meant for HE machines. I suppose if you make sure what you use is for HE washers, then maybe you stand a better chance. I am not sure it is more economical to make your own... I don;t spend that much on laundry detergent. When you use liquid detergent the large cap they use on the jug is about 3x the amount you need for 1 load of laundry....I have found that the basic blue Dawn dish soap works FANTASTIC FOR STAIN REMOVAL... i KEEP A BOTTLE OF IT IN MY LAUNDRY ROOM. You wet the stain, then put some dawn on it, and scrub with your knuckles, then wash as normal... The only thing it will not remove are stains that have been set in for a while....I know you are in California where things are MUCH more expensive, but I live in Ohio and we have Aldi we shop at... i buy their liquid laundry detergent at about 7.00 a jug and with just my husband and I 1 bottle lasts us almost 3 months. Even if I bought 1 jug a month that would only cost less than 75.00 a year,,,,,

    Hi Sarah,
The instructions that came with my front-loader, washer-drier definitely stated that only brand name products should be used. As they are developed to give optimum results and cause the least amount of harm to the machinery, filters and hoses. They certainly have less suds than hand made products and I know this makes a difference to how long machinery lasts. I would like to run vinegar thru a cycle to refresh the appliance but they especially warned against this. So it’s off to the store to buy a commercial rinse that costs ten times as much. 😢
Since old age and physical handicap have caught up with me I certainly need the convienience of the washer-drier. Guess I’ll just keep being a good little ant and do as the great overlord technology tells me.(not bitter at all)

Could you give the size of boxes you used? All of them come in different sizes. I find Zote flakes at Walmart for $3.38, but it’s only a 17.6 oz box so I’m just not sure what size boxes to order. Thank you!

I've made both kinds of detergent, but not for a while and not this recipe. Wish the recipe was in the description box.

I showed everything I used in the video.🤍
1 box each of borax, washing soda, 3 1/2 lb of OXI, and one box of zote. Mix well, and Enjoy, Ginny.🤍👏🏻

Yes, I know you did, and thank you for that. The problem is I was in the car waiting for my daughter when I was watching and had nothing on which to write. I've added the items to my shopping list. Thank you!

Can you put in link for your liquid detergent? My washing machine is HE, liquid only or pods. Powder not recommended.

I have only made the powdered recipe, but I like it very much. My recipe called for Fels Naptha bar soap- grated. I never added Oxi Clean. My son really liked the result on his sweaty tennis clothes!

Hi Sarah, I have been making liquid detergent for several months now. I’ve been very satisfied with the results, as well as cost savings! Let us all know how this works out for you. I’ve considered making the dry detergent. We also go through so much!

So far, I think I prefer the powder detergent better than the liquid. It’s easier to store.🤍

We prefer the powdered better because it lasts longer. It’s harder to over use, especially if kids help with the laundry. I tied a scoop to our jar so we never add more than we need. But we notice that it doesn’t always dissolve so a little trick for me is to add hot water to a cup and dissolve it first then add it to the wash. One extra little step but a lot of $$ saved. 😊

I bought french market laundry detergent from tyler candle company and its lasted a long time and we are spoiled by the scent.
But this is something i always wanted to make. Can you add essential oils for scent?

I don’t see why you couldn’t? Or you could add them to the dryer wool balls you can buy?🥰

Instead of fabric softener… you put 1/4 cup white vinegar in fabric rinse reservoir.
Helps dark clothes not fade. Gets everything fresh.
My grandmother did this as well as the laundry recipe I sent earlier.

    Hi Desi
Just finished Georgette Heyer' VENETIA, this morning at 02:00. I agree with you, Venetia surpasses Arabella as a favorite heroine. Particularly chuckled at the use of the word 'stoopid'. Love to watch your videos.

Sarah, I just wanted to tell you that I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of months now and started all the way when you first started and I just love you and your family. As I get closer to your recent videos I noticed I don’t see your family as much and I sure do miss that. I feel I know y’all now. Your daughters are precious and the younger one is so sweet helping you all the time in the kitchen. You are truly my favorite on RUclips because you are genuine and I love that about you. You’re just the sweetest! I wish I lived near you so I could meet you. May God bless you and your family♥️🙏🏻✝️ Your friend from the Florida Panhandle 🌞Trump Country😉🇺🇸

She’s washing a load of laundry with 0.034 oz of soap. A paper clip weighs more at 0.05 oz. So does a $ bill at 0.035. I use more to wash the few scraggly hairs on my head.
Clearly, you should avoid wasting $ on this nonsense. Results will be comparable to washing with plain water.
