Hello Sarah and everyone watching! I live in Florida and we have been getting a lot of rain and cold fronts this winter. We call the flowers buttercups, but the real name is daffodils. They will multiply year after year, deer love to eat them. I make my own laundry detergent and do the sourdough. I make biscuits, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, bread, and pizza. For those wanting to learn about sourdough, watch Mary at the Rose homestead. She is a great teacher and makes it so easy to learn.

Why does Ssour dough starter need to be discarded? I know people who have starter from their grandmothers - 20-30 yrs old
Seems as though appliances break down more often these days and all at once too. Because of this we are on a plan through our gas company ,we pay a bit extra every month and appliances are fixed for free if they break. If they need to be replaced they give a certain amount towards a new one. Its definitely paid off for us. I like the name Greta:) The bible has the answer for everything we need:)

My state of the art, eco friendly, dishwasher takes 3 hours to complete the “quick cycle”. The manufacturer boasts that my machine uses less water. So when I fill a freshly “washed” glass with water I get a layer of suds on my water similar to the froth on a cappuccino. I just wash my dishes by hand and use my $2000 dishwasher for a dish drying rack. I guess it beats having a dish rack on the counter. 😂
Although I prefer Greta I'll say Ida since my husband's grandmother was named Ida and was a very dear person.🌼
If you b haven't already named your starter, I vote for "Ida". You can call her "Ida-Dough"!

My local independent electrician told me that new dishwashers are designed to run FOUR times A WEEK for FOUR YEARS… No wonder those of us who are at home, homemaking, use them up quickly! In the busy season in the kitchen I can run it four times a day 😂

About the homemade laundry detergent, I made my own detergent until I read a magazine article that said it was hard on your washing machine and that some manufacturers will not honor the warranty on your machine if you use homemade laundry detergent. I'm not sure if this is accurate, but I thought you might be interested in this information. Have a lovely day! 🌸🐈🌼💧

Well I'll vote..i like "Greta"😊 I feel the same about appliances! I got a set for Christmas when my son was a baby, it lasted me 17yrs! And since we've moved to Tennessee and started our men's recovery home, we've been thru 4 in 4yrs! I realize its not just a family of 4 like when i had that set for so long, but we have anywhere from 12-17 of us washing in one machine. But still that's just crazy to only last one year! The yellow flowers are Daffodils, ours are just coming up they the ground good. The bread looks so yummy😋 Thanks for sharing with us today!😊

Here in North Carolina they actually growing wild along roadways and we plant them in our yards. Many times you might spy a large stand of them in an open area. Usually there was at one time a homestead there, and some sweet homemaker planted them many, many years ago, only to still pop up in the Springtime. 😊❤😊🙏

Hi Sarah, loved this video. Your flowers are narcissi’s (daffodils). I don’t know the variety though. They will multiple and most animals don’t like them. They are wonderful cut flowers for the spring. Sour dough was hard for me. I tried last year and failed to get the starter going. I tried again this year and have been successful! I’m just beginning to get breads to be beautiful like yours. The King Arthur has a delicious waffle recipe you should try. Both names are very old world but I’m thinking Ida would be the one I’d choose. Please keep sharing your baking adventures in the future and have a great week ahead.

Sarah, rather than throwing the left-over sourdough bread to the birds, which isn't good for them, try cubing the bread, sprinkle olive oil or a mix of olive oil and melted butter over the cubes, season to your liking and bake on a baking sheet for 15 minutes, flipping them halfway through, at 350° to make croutons. They're so delicious on salads! I always love your videos.

Hi Sarah! My mother passed away in 2022 of dementia, which she suffered from for almost 9 years. Anyway, mum was the best baker and everyone loved her brown bread. Well, I didn’t have her recipe so my sister found it for me. The recipe called for two handfuls of oatmeal and two handfuls of special K. lol. My mother had longer fingers than I. So, it has been a guess. I know my brown bread will never be as good as my mother’s. My mother was the best. Her philosophy was “if you don’t have anything good to say, don’t say anything”. Mum played the piano at her church for 40 years. It was so sad when she couldn’t remember how to play the piano.

I have been making my own laundry detergent for about 2 years, I don't like fragrance or any kind of softener. I feel this builds up in the fabrics I'm washing and so I stopped buying laundry detergent. I use, washing soda, baking soda, Fells naptha, borax and if I like a lavender oil. I have no scent in the laundry and I am saving a lot of money as well. I like powder and not liquid, my own preference.
I am trying a powder version this go around in my homemade laundry detergent!🤍 A friend said the same thing that she likes the powder better, too!
