I see alot of my own dad in him (the father) and it honestly felt like he didnt even understand he just said what they told him to and after the show he'll probably go back to how he was. He and my dad seem to have the mindset that being there physically is the same as being a good dad. No, you have to be there emotionally for them. Being there physically and emotionally is NOT the same and if he doesnt change his kids could end up resenting him as they grow older.

The first concern broke my heart, such beautiful children with a father who puts zero effort into their care and well being! He better wake up and realize that his kids will grow up and probably want nothing to do with him, especially the eldest. Such a sweet girl, hope she gets to dance again:)
Alyssa Q Working 60-80 hours a week is a part of raising your kids. No shit he expects, and I imagine she doesnt mind, his wife to be the primary caregiver. He isnt sitting on his ass all day. Their only fault is not giving Soobin more attention, but all in all theyre doing well given the situation.
prince13x .The father may work long shifts but he sleep most of the time at work. He is just lazy and don't want to help his wife and daughter by sleeping all the time and not take any fatherly responsibility. Being a father is more then just bringing money for the house.

prince13x : My grandfather died last year. On his bed he said to my mother that he regrets to not have cared for her more. He actually acted very badly, the most I can remember, he always shouted to her how he was disappointed, because she couldn't solve his problem at the bank or at the hospital. After these he didn't wanted to see us a lot. What make me sad is that he realised weeks before dying. He may have seen horrible things, lived a tough life, but in the end he died regretfully. I can even remember his sad face, like a child who knows he had behaved bad. At 23, It made me understand how at the end we are all nothing but past and memory. But unfortunately my biggest regret is that I didn't have obliged or lend a hand to him to be more with us, but since he was a pain, I choose to ignore him, the worst is that I know I could have done better, this is what breaks me. My parents always told me, you can be poor but if you have kids cherished, respect, teach them love. I don't really understand but I'm sure I don't want to regret as hard as my grandfather was. And I hope these girls won't see that face I saw.
And if you don't want kids, don't make them. Be sure you are ready. I sometimes take full care of my 2yo cousin, and I know I'm not that ready.
And least, he said that his sister has done the same. Instead of understanding how hard it was, he just accept it as a part of their life. I see lots of misogyny. If you just assumed my gender, I'm a young man.
Funny fact, my father loves children, I'm glad my mother didn't chose her father as husband. I dunno why people tend to find someone who's near at what they dislike.
Soo bin is suffering from depression and I find it so sad that her family doesn't even notice it.
DiDi Nwabude I know she is too. I suffered the same when I stayed home for college and 2 years into it my mother decided to do foster care. At the same time I was working 24+ hours a week, full time college, and babysitting for her. I was so exhausted. When I had a free moment with my boyfriend I always fell asleep. l0l To this day I regret staying home. I even went all the way to Korea after college to relieve myself.

my name is minho Do the math. He works 60-80 hours a week with irregular sleep patterns so that he can feed, clothe, and house 4 children and hus wife can stay home and try to manage 4 children. Take them and raise them yourself? Child please, you'd crash and burn trying.
prince13x the concern isn't the fact he works alot, which granted he does so it's good he's supporting his family. The issue is his complacency to showing affection to his kids or acting like a father when he actually does see his children. In his mind, the man only works while the wife and kids take care of the rest. However, being a father is more than just being a landlord who provides money (even then he gives his daughter pennies for personal massages). This little girl should be having a childhood, but she can't since she's acting as a mother, and the father doesn't see anything wrong with it.
prince13x that's his responsibility to support financially. I love this one quote (the point in general) from Song Ilgook, "Your wife did her share when pregnant and giving birth. Child care is supposed to be husband's share and wife's job is to assist. (Mother's love to her children will make her do efforts in child care that are more than father though.)". Having a kid means you were entrusted one living human and he has 4 kids being entrusted to him and his wife. Taking responsibility is not only financially but taking care of the children including giving them the parent's love they deserved. It doesn't matter how tired you are, mostly good fathers seeing their children, they will think their own children are cute, adore them and can't stand not to play with them. He couldn't (or rarely) even play or at least being curious of what they did at school or simply say love/praise/sorry/thank you. The soccer player, Lee Dongguk, even has 2 set of girl twins and one baby boy & he's busy enough with training and competitions (that's how he works and feed the family), but he managed to video call them when he's away from home and play with them when he's home. The eldest twins help taking care the younger twins and the baby boy but not like Soobin in this episode. That's how the kids are close with him even though he is rarely at home. This is just examples but that also show how to be responsible dad. Soobin's dad, when he's at home, he can at least ask how Soobin's (or his son) doing at school and he can even listen to her while lying down (or being massaged :p) and when he's awake, he can at least play with the twins even though for 10 minutes (as he said he got tired after 10 minutes) esp when his children are super cute. If his job in the family only to support them financially, just be a landlord and not start a family. He is the head of family. His wife tries to take care of children alone so she can't help but asking her eldest daughter. She wants to ask for his help but she can't force him too much to avoid fights. Child care is mom AND dad's jobs. Even if he didn't do house works, at least he can help taking care children or simply play with them.

His job wasn't to donate sperm to his wife so that she could have 4 kids and no support. Just giving money isn't enough. He sleeps for 5 hours in the evening, comes home and sleeps and lounges around.
Soobin is a 13 year old [this age group typically needs 9 proper hours of sleep], instead, she raises two kids, does her normal school work past 12 midnight [I used to go to sleep at fucking 10, so that I could get proper hours of sleep which was ensured by my parents, even my father who never ever changed a single diaper despite having two kids], wakes up at 3-4am to feed the kids, which is something the father should be doing. The dad obviously stays asleep on purpose, indicated by his long pause before answering, contemplating whether to tell the truth or not. In fact, you can see him starting off saying something else, then changing his answer. He's a pathetic excuse for a man, and that's that.
I feel so bad for Soobin. I wanted to slap that smirk off her father so badly. Her little brother is more of a man than he is.

Lisa Lee Fortunately Soobin is a better person than you. She wouldnt be so selfish as to just "do her." She understands that her family is tight with money and have a lot on their plate. She doesnt want to stop helping, she just wants an occasional thank you and a little help. Some people recognize that they must make sacrifices for their family because that's the greatest display of love.

I agree, they had already had 2 kids before the twins, he even said he never held her/picked her up once. You get to choose whether or not to have kids or use protection, but children do not get to choose their parents or to be born. Soobin shouldn't be paying for something her parents did, at the same time she has so much courage and strength for such a small girl shes really amazing, but she shouldn't be the one picking up the slack

I was responsible for my brothers and our home itself while my mother was at work when we were young. She was having to work long hours because she was a single parent. I resented it a lot, but my mother at least came home and did her share when she was there, without expecting me to do it all. She did what she could, but, back then, there wasn't day care and lots of sitters. So it fell to me, out of necessity.
Because I took on so much responsibility, so young, my mother rewarded me just as much. She woke up at 4 am to help me get up and to my early morning training sessions (Weight lifting and running), paid for the cab to take me to the gym or the track, and paid for a private gymnastics coach. I'd take my brothers with me to the gym in the afternoon, and they had to do homework or play quietly while I worked with my coach.
My brothers used to whine, why does she get to do all of that. And my mother finally told them, "because she earns it every time she takes care of you or cooks meals and picks up the house while I'm at work--and she does all of it without complaining, even though it's hard."
My parents were never around and although my sister is 17 years older than me she never looked after me as she had her own life so my mum always left me with the neighbours when I was little and when I started school I'd be in school all day until she finished working, and dad only came home once a week. Things is, it's already bad that poor Soobin has to suffer like that but how heartless is the father that he just did not care? To the point that the little son offered to pick up his dad's slack by giving up precious time of his childhood.
Yeah it happened to me growing up i was the oldest and so i had to take care of all my brothers and sisters as my mum struggled or had to work while my dad never did anything not cook or clean or help out watching them the stress really does get to you and scar you into adulthood i would do the same thing cry at night when everyone was asleep but in my bedroom my sister who was 2 years apart would help once in while but I would feel bad a tell to focus on her game or school work its horrible watching this girl and to be honest I don't know if her dad will ever really change

I can tell you now that in families where there are 3 or more children and the parents are strapped for cash, the eldest daughter's situation isnt uncommon and it's by no means cruel to ask this of her. yes I am a single child but I grew up in a joint family with many baby cousins neice and nephews.........I am not from a well off family and got into a med college through merit ....cuz we cant afford paying large amount of tuition fee.......I know how is it to take care of kids.......she is taking care of a baby.....at that age I took care of my baby cousin all by myself because my aunt was a working lady.........I know how it must feel ........but I am not against them asking her to take care......she should ofcourse....but what I resent about that father is .......he should help when he can.....but he doesnt.....he is busy being lazy......and there is nothing he does to appreciate her hard work at such young age......I know how it feels so I can relate to her......you feel like a helpless babysitter.....Kindly go throught the concern properly then you will understand why the father is being bashed.............and please try to contemplate the concern mindfully before judging others.......

It's a good show.)

the more I watch hello counselor the farther I get from believing and wanting anything to do with marriage and what kind of father I'd give my kids.
You get this man that was pampered all his life solely for being a man and it takes just too much work to make him a man you can live with, you have to raise him all over again and if you're lucky he changes a little bit. not all are the same ok but looking at various cases I rather stay single

***** ???? the mother is raising the children while Soobin is in school and she takes care of the other one...she's not doing nothing, it's just that she doesn't have it in her to do everything by herself so she relies on Soobin too much which caused this to happen. Renata Silva Did you do the math and figure out that he works 60-80 hours a week to provide for his family? Also, some advice: it's easier to accept someone for who they are than to try to change them. From what I can tell he is a fairly docile man who doesnt like to show his emotions but would rather show love for his family by providing for them. Why shame him for that? Also he was born in a family of 8 and considering his older siblings raised him, that means his family couldnt afford a nanny so they werent that well off. He was the fortunate one in his family, but no one in his family was truly pampered.

Aww that's so sad, I'm in the same situation, but I'm not nice, if I don't want to do something I would simply say no, I know it's rude and selfish to say that to your parents, but you should try and say that sometimes when you really need time to yourself to study, meet friends and do what you like.
Though It's not always bad to babysit your siblings cuz it's always feels nice when they call you mummy, that was the best for me ;)

Manar Zrekat My mom doesn't understand no. I told her I was starting to fail classes due to missing homework (never got the time to do it) and she said I was failing classes because I was lazy and didn't do it when I had the time (after the kids fall asleep). I can't say no because "they're my little siblings and I have to help and make sacrifices for the sake of the family"

I know how you feel I've been taking care of my sister since I was ten she's 3 now I've been taking care of her 247 until my mom comes home and she usually comes home around 12am but my mom owns a salon so I understand her and me and my sister have different dads so we're half sisters but her dad doesn't help us with anything and he doesn't even bother to babysit her every once in a while and now my mom is having another kid so I'm worried

well that's it exactly. He thinks raising a child is easy because he's never done nor tried it. It never entered his mind that maybe he should relieve his daughter of her babysitting duties or even help out his wife at night because according to him, in his town, men don't do that.

I related a lot to the story of the 13 year old girl since, I also raised my brothers when I was her age until I was 16 because my mom was very sick at that time, my dad had to work hard to pay for my mom's treatment thus he was never around so the only one "old enough" to take care of them was me. Having to deal with school, housekeeping chores, raising two babies, and taking care of another younger sibling was hard, I cried to sleep a bunch of nights too, I suffered from depression and until this day I have the hardest of times expressing myself because I try to look strong and keep it all bottled in the inside but on a brighter note, it made me a stronger person, it made me grow up and it gave me a stronger sense of responsibility.
