Buses were sent to the complex to provide shelter for hotel guests leaving the building, police said on Twitter, as outside temperatures were -7C. The cause of the burst is not yet known.

Feel more sorry for the fish than anything.
@chris jones How would you know this? Are you a fish 🐠 🐟 who's experienced a similar event in the past?
@@terryolay4613 No, but we're also vertebrates and we definitely have heard about or even seen people dying from falling.

rip to the fish but I wanna see the security video of the actual burst please. I find it hard to believe there was not a single security camera facing the AquaDom?!
IKR, guess everyone just looking for THAT specific moment.
Why hard to believe? There's really no surveillance purpose for one.
I’d say they want to send it to their insurers first!
@@pseudonym3690 why not what if it was done intentionally
@@pseudonym3690 The security cameras wouldn’t be facing the aquarium to observe IT 🤣 it’s literally in the middle of the building, cameras tend to want to cover as much area as possible, so if you want to have surveillance over the whole building’s walking area, you’re not going to ignore the dead center of everything 🤦♂️

Was thinking the same, imagine being trapping in the glass elevator in the middle whilst this happened.
Luckily it is thought that it bursted because of the low temperatures, so it probably couldnt have happened during the day

So I guess this is why they don't typically make large, free standing aquariums.
It was built in 2003...
And it actually worked well, The reason why it shattered was because of the freezing temperatures. They probably didn't turn on the heaters because of the high prices because of the russian dependencies
@@risingdarkness Did not worked very well as it depended Russian oil in order be safe.

Dude those aquariums are built to take 5x there force💀💀

@@MissX905 it was caused by the hotel being forced to turn down the heating in the lobby where the aquarium was.

When it happens at 5 a.m. - no. And if there were tons ppl around, tons would be injured as well (but it’s only 2, probably staff).
I was thinking the same. I would have thought it would have taken more than a minute for a million liters of water to dissipate.

I presume this tank/aquarium was not commissioned last night and bursted this morning. It has been standing there for years. There must be other factors than an early claim of a "less than adequate engineering or design".

sorry it was too late and also it was a very cold night, so tropical fish dont support cold water
Yeah, no, with the pressure change the fish all probably died soon after. As a fish lover, it sucks but there was no hope of saving any of these fish/inverts unless there was some water that stayed in the bottom of the tank somehow

Some Rocket Engineer got their Pressure Calculations wrong😮
I wonder if the local cats gave the word. All-you-can-eat sushi buffet on the 'house' or in this case 'street'.🤔
It was Mel Gibson that did it.
Don't know all the facts yet, but I am willing to bet that as far as the engineering was concerned, this thing was pushing the limits of what was prudent.
According to the American company that built the dome and assembled it they were the only ones that were capable of such a feat at the time. Wouldn't be surprised if they were cutting costs on the wrong end. It's currently assumed that the material just broke due to aging.
@@pseudonym3690 Yes, you know how it is, years ago when someone was pushing the limits of technology they added a little extra to the strength of construction to give themselves a safety margin, now everyone is building an "airplane". It's not how strong we can design it, but how much weight can we take out of it and still allow it to fly.
Apparently it was built in 2003, and it lasted this long, some speculations say it was due to the cold temperatures from not heating the building properly due to the high prices in some economical issue with the war? I may be wrong with how I worded that. But something along those lines
Condolences and comfort to the family

The kippers escaped because they were all in their rooms.
The hotel doesn’t want the footage of the moment it burst to be released.
It’s beautiful. Hopefully they’ll rebuild it but keep temperature change in mind going forward. 👍🏻
Is that what we are always afraid of as a kid finally come true?
The guy from Euro trip did this...
"I once caused an aquarium in a hotel lobby to burst. IN BERLIN! HA HA! I'm going nowhere near BERLIN!"😄😄
It seems to me that a freestanding type on this scale is only destined to be destroyed by a smaller earthquake. As a perspective from the earthquake country.
Is there footage of it exploding?
The Osaka Aquarium is made by glass and Iron, have a central tank with two whale sharks , stingrays and other oceanic species and resist 6.4 earthquakes
The german excellency is a MYTH
no cctv ? where is the recording ?
An aquarium that size, towering over the lobby, must have raised anxiety levels in the duration of time it was there. I don’t think it ever induced a sense of wonder - just heightened concern. Small aquariums may induce a sense of wonder, however. It just seemed like an unnecessary extravagance.
Why not? Its cool though. If you want your boring small square aquarium go ahead. Enjoy yourself. Just dont share to the world cus we dont care.
@@rafliyaumil8812 you should watch this video again
Rafi: my small square aquarium is too big to fail.
i was there almost 10 years ago, cant remember anybody being concerned
I doubt it caused lots of anxiety. Maybe to people with phobias. What about those aquariums, where you walk around in a large glass tube? They would be horrible if they shattered but they don't cause anxiety to normal people or even to kids.
I often wondered about these type of aquariums, especially when I watch tanked. I feel bad the fish are dead.
Give a whole new perspective on “sleeping with the fishes”.
In what way? No one was doing that before or after.
@@mikemondano3624 it’s a hotel Mike. 🤷🏼♂️
People use Hotels for the express reason of sleep..
Ergo….. they *literally* slept in a building with fishes.
Who broke you, and why are you challenging me with your repair?
It's cruel to keep animals locked up, as entertainment, the aquarium designer was negligent, obviously bullet proof glass/acrylic has compressive strength, for the pressure on the inside tube, but, not stretching strength, for the outside tube, with tonnes of wieght stretching it's circumference to breaking point, predictably.
Hindsight is 20/20 but no one ever thought to monitor the temperature?? Keeping it at a safe moderate room temperature during the winter?? Apparently it cracked because of negative degree temperatures.
If the news wasn't bad enough, now this...

How is there no footage of the actual break?
The small m is a factor of 1000, over either under; the big M refers to "million", isn't it?
Not quite... small k (kilo) is typically used to represent a factor of 1000 (eg kilometer), but large M (Mega) usually represents a factor of 1,000,000. So you could technically say one Ml (Megalitre) represents 1 million litres, but we don't typically use Mega to describe volume. In this case you just say 1m litres, where lower case m is used to abbreviate million. Same way we don't say Megapounds, or Gigapounds, so we use £1m, or £1b.
I wanna see it break. I need this 😂. Nemo is fuc.ed
