I stand to earn a small commission from sales made through the link. thanks for supporting the channel!)

    Did you see the update on the roadmap for the A5x2 on Supernote's official Reddit, which now states that the Supernote A5x2 is set to enter mass production in early September and release that same month? Exciting!

    Just thought I would add in a couple of Viwoods responses to points I made in this video:
    It seems like this is going to be a bit of a journey with them as them make improvements to their software! I'm here for that to be honest.
    If you want to see some more detailed testing footage, here is my members video, 25 minutes of 4K goodness! ruclips.net/video/fjqHDOTIaOc/видео.html
    "Clarifications on Your Observations:
    1. Manufacturing Defect: We truly appreciate your feedback regarding the manufacturing defect. As you were reviewing a prototype, we will ensure a much better manufacturing process for the official release.
    2. Google Play Services: Our device cannot install Google Play services, as GMS does not accept Android 13 certification at this time.
    3. BBC App Compatibility: We previously tested the BBC app on software version R2.6.3, and it worked at that time. However, it seems to have stopped working since then, so we have removed the BBC app in the latest software version to address this issue."

      Is it possible to install apps via .apk download? It would be nice to continue chatting on Whatsapp on the beach for a day, three days, a week. Is this possible?

    For some people the lack of a play store means more privacy. Can the play store can be easily added if the user wants it?
    Can it type off a wired/wireless keyboard?

    Looks worth considering, but I'll wait until they get to retail before I seriously consider it. I've gotten ripped off on kickstarter one too many times where companies took the money and never delivered for clearly no legit reason.

    Some concerns about Hong Kong/China owned and likewise some unpolished software issues denoted on one of the review videos on their site (Chalid Raqami) though tossing caution to the wind and ordered the mini model. If it does not pan out for delivery else good with updates over time then losing less $ then purchasing the larger unit.
    Will see how AI works and if benefit to me and likewise try to limit what info I put on device that goes to their servers (which might be all data on the device). In the end, I simply liked the unique home screen layout and tablet function flow based on your review and other one seen.
    Did not see this device coming and will be of interest to see what the small form factor will be like in daily use.
    Thank you for your review, as you had limited time with the device no doubt thus far so great you will able to share your thoughts with us.

    can you speak to how/whether it permits arbitrary placement of text and hand-drawn/written content in the same note/document? or whether it has a shape library (hopefully an expandable one) like Boox?

    This captures a lot of what originally drew me to the Remarkable, but as others have said, I'll wait to see it come to market. For now I'll stick with a Scribe for usable notes, great Kindle integration, but still missing the Remarkable workflow capabilities.

      Yeah, it's very similar to remarkable and Go 10.3. Certainly at the sides. It's like remarkable 1 shape, with remarkable 2 materials and thinness. The colour is a little warmer grey than a remarkable.

  • @karlmunford7000
    @karlmunford7000 29 дней назад +2

    *The thinness Wars for aesthetics sake tends towards fragility,* so I'm not keen on the idea. If offered a choice, I'd choose a robust device that looked more like a brick over a good looking device that needed constant vigilance any day.
    Kind of reminds me of choosing a carpet, do you purchase that expensive shag pile carpet that has you fretting every time a neighbour pops around wearing a pair of boots with an open can of cola in his hand, or a cheaper durable carpet where theres peace?

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  29 дней назад +2

      I agree with this, but I think there is space for both options, elegant and thin for the aesthetic tech enthusiasts and rugged for those who need to chuck it about a bit!

      @@KitBetts-Masters I don't know about _'needing to chuck it about a bit'_ but rather, _'not fret over its fragility'_ but I get your point.
      Maybe the answer might come in the form of a third party _'tough case'_ of some kind, as taking an e-ink device on site is akin to watching a lamb navigate a lion's den... it really needs some robust protection.

    The hardware looks fairly viable, so at least that part does not look like a scam. The main interest is how they integrate AI into a typical workflow. That could be the interesting part.. However, could someone just write an app to run on the existing BOOX or supernote platforms to do the same things?
    The main attraction would be software if they can pull it off. Again, having more intelligent forms that are linked into workflows could be cool and doable with Gemini or other models

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  29 дней назад +1

      Yeah, absolutely they could. I guess ViWoods are just making a bet that you'll want instant access to an embedded ai app at any time. I can see it in some ways. Especially as people are trying to market standalone AI assistants, perhaps there is a place for this taking that role as well as a notebook and planner replacement.

    I recently got a Boox Go 10.3", and while I can appreciate the extreme thinness it does make me scared about robustness. Don't get me wrong as It is an amazingly well built device, but I'm not entirely sure I would have minded a tiny bit of thickness to make it feel a bit less like I'm going snap it just holding it. It's not as though paper writing pads are ever that thin.
    Maybe it's because I have not used any e-note devices prior to my Boox, but I can't imagine just how much more complex the engineering needs to be to make these devices so impossibly
    thin. I personally wouldn't mind thicker devices that likely save manufacturing costs.

      Premium build quality of a reMarkable, even thinner and lighter, seems the UI is a lot more polished and less cluttered than Books/Supernote, while allowing you to load Android apps like the Boox. I mean, why wouldn't you get this when it becomes available? - seems like the best option right now?

    I’ve watched so many videos of different e-books and I can’t seem to get my question answered and I thought maybe you could answer it for me. I’m looking for an e-book that I can just open up Google Docs and hand write with the pen on my writings and then save it as text. All with keeping it inside Google Docs. Is that not an option or?
    I thank you ahead of time for your answer and if there is a good one out there that’s good for writers. Please let me know which one would be the best before I throw money or something.

    Write differently!

  • @janinawalker4200
    @janinawalker4200 28 дней назад

    Those two words are improperly used. Write is the verb, so it needs an adverb after it which is differently. Different is an adjective and that would be placed in front of what it describes. So the only way to do it is add an "ly" to the end and it would become correct as a verb is followed by an adverb. It is incorrect to have a verb followed by an adjective. Confusing certainly, but the problem is the people in the oriental countries were not taught English grammar.

    • @KitBetts-Masters
      @KitBetts-Masters  28 дней назад

      I don't disagree. But it's a callback to apple's "Think Different." slogan. Sure grammatically incorrect, but I think probably that contraction is in such wide use it's probably acceptable. I'm always happy to debate points of grammar! Hehehe :-)
