Posiblemente la voz más bella de contratenor actual. Bravo.

His range is superb and his dynamics are breathtaking. I rest my case.

Iestyn is a world treasure & rarer example of perfection in artistry.
His duet with (& speaking of perfection), trumpet goddess Alison Balsom on Handel's Eternal Source of Light Divine is, hands down, THE greatest interpretation of that piece that's ever been recorded or performed since the invention of sound recording.

The music on the third verse: Did I not own Jehova's pow'r, comes from the deepest of the soul and Davies gives to it the most emotional purity and consistency we should expect. It's so sprtitual!

Which peasant dislikes this most perfect of counter tenor voices?

Philippe Jaroussky me tape sur le système mais la voix de Lestyn Davies m'enchante. Sa contribution au Solomon de Paul Maccreech est capitale.

The complementary artistry of Davies and McCreesh and his orchestra is something of a revelation.A beacon for what is surely one of Handel's finest oratorios?

Pastor Dave, when I listen to this and other uplifting baroque music, I can't do anything else, period. I don't do well with background music. It's got my attention, or it's turned off so I can concentrate.
But I think I know what you mean. One time I was driving, happened to tune in on a satellite radio baroque music program on a tremendous work Heinrich Schütz, and pulled off the road before I forget about safety. Great music is pure front burner of my awareness, captivating, never to be talked over or put in the background while doing something else

    10. Air
    Solomon
What though I trace each herb and flow'r,
    That drink the morning dew,
    Did I not own Jehovah's pow'r,
How vain were all I knew.
Say what's the rest but empty boast,
    The pedant's idle claim,
Who having all the substance lost
    Attempts to grasp a name.
What though. . . da capo
    Live, live for ever, pious David's son;
Live, live for ever, mighty Solomon.

Could someone please tell me if these exact words are in the Bible, and if so, where? Or are they Handel's own words?

    • @ti-jesuadeleke5563

They aren't in the Bible. Seems more like Handel's exquisite mind at work. Solomon (a king who did reign in Israel and recorded in the Bible) exalting God though.
