I have never heard such beautiful purity in a counter tenor voice as this.
I am not ashamed to admit I am addicted to this gentleman's singing. Absolutely stunning.
He sings this aria beautifully. Apart from the beautiful melody and moving orchestration I also love the wandering, lost feeling created by the strings at the start.,
What an interesting and beautiful contratenor voice and I did not know him. Such a delightfull!
How this aria creates a sense of loss and longing is amazing!
Iestyn Davies is the most expressive and musical counter-tenor - indeed the best counter-tenor - that this country has ever produced.
I first heard him towards the start of his career and was entranced by the beauty of his voice.
And I felt sure that he was going places!

Handel just turned out amazing aria after amazing aria.....top 10 hits almost every time! The very greatest tunesmith who ever lived....and listen to the responses and timbres of the orchestra....nor Bach, nor Telemann, noe Hasse , nor A Scarlatti ever did anything this integral and musically moving....

Exact! Bach didn't know how to compose arias, he was not a good melodist. Handel was the supreme master of the genre, lots of sublime arias, no one beats him.

Such a beautiful and original rendition! Great coloratura! So light and delicate in the second part! Never heard anything even close to such vocal embellishments in this aria in the 3rd part! Fantastic!
