Love how they ended up learning close to nothing at the end lmao
Exactly. At least the point of brewsters millions was after spending that much he learned he hated spending it like that so he'd spend less.
Yes, an extra little joke: You may not be able to spend a 1B, but you can easily spend 30B trying to raise a kid.
I've watched the ending. It doesn't end with them donating nothing. They instead spend the entire night trying to come up with a detailed account of how much they need. Just as they are about to donate, the wife suddenly thinks "Oh no! What if we have another child!" and the accounting process continues
@@bronzeplayergaming2244 hmm interesting. Still - 30 billion yuan (still billions of dollars), I feel like it’d be pretty easy to set aside 1 billion yuan for the amount he had to waste in the month and donate that to charity or something. Just to show what was learned.
Lol
Not gonna lie, i expected it to end by him losing the challenge because he kept making money and he'd be devastated only to find out hes made more than 30 billion from his investments. That would've been a better ending in my opinion.

The best part of watching Brewster's Millions remakes is the perfect encapsulation of inflation. The first one I saw - the third remake in 1935 - the challenge was £500,000 in 60 days. By 1985 Richard Pryor was in like the 7th or 8th remake, and by then it was $30,000,000 in 30 days. This looks like a beat-for-beat remake of the Richard Pryor film.

This movie seems to reiterate the power of compounding interests as seen in generational wealth. And how the wealthy don't have to work as hard as the poor. It's actually difficult to lose everything quickly. Sure, over a long period of time, you can lose it all. It's not as easy as it looks.
The ones with money spend none... stop crying about working... I spoke to a billionaire... he would go on ebay to find something $5 cheaper. I bet you "working harder" fools don't do that... and youy argue that, you can not work to help your family later on... guess ALL inheritance should be 100% taxed eh? prevents generational wealth...
I am sure you will then come up with some random $ amount and anything under is free...
So I have a 100k home, my buddy has a 300k home, someone else has a average priced home for the area (500k real numbers btw)

You came up with $1million as your number.
How is ANY number fair? The more money the more expenses so... 1mill - 100k is 900k in cash... with 1300 a year in land taxs vs the person who gets the 500k home and has to pay 15k a year only gets 500k cash makes no sense...

You're just listing off random numbers of houses and taxes in your area, which has no bearing on anything. People with bigger houses have bigger property tax... so?
Also, 2 wrongs don't make a right. Everyone has their issues, the fact that you can say that some people live on $3USD a day is justification for others not having money is dumb. I'm not sure if you know this, but the banking system and just how society handles money right now is garbage, you should really look up where money REALLY comes from, its all made up nonsense. Now, we have to deal with that nonsense in the real world, which means that high inflation rates and low incomes are the norm, but it really shouldn't be.
If we were in a vacuum and people really got what they worked for, it wouldn't be a problem, but in REAL LIFE, that's just not how it works. People cheat and steal, they even do it legally, it doesn't matter. Stop licking the boots of super wealthy people, because they literally don't give a shit about you and were just born in the right circumstances to learn what they needed to succeed, or even inherited what they need. Like you said, people live off $3USD a day, it's not their choice to do so.
Anyway, the poor stay in debt and the real billionaires use that debt as collateral to make more money, it's just how it works.

Actually, this is not a original story. If i remember correctly. I saw a USA movie in the 80's or 90's. The story is about a black baseball player who has an uncle that give him inheritance but need to spend the 1st millions to receive the rest of the money. If he failed, he will not received anything.
I would buy a company listed for 1B. You don't only inherit the fortune but also to run a company from your own investment.
It takes months to years to legally own a company you buy. Unlike the movies when you said you’ll buy and then it’s yours. Thus he will lose the inheritance buy waiting for the company to be legally his.
What's the actual most effective way to spend that amount of money?, Leasing an island?, Hiring mercenaries? (And I mean a LOT of them), Maybe trying to buy a big name company?
I don't know. I'm just trying to figure out how I would go about it.
Political campaigns, expensive theoretical research projects, funding Biosphere 3, increasing rewards for various nasty people by an order of magnitude (i.e. the FBI may have a bounty of $10 million USD for someone, you can increase it to $100M), increase funding to the Nobel prize and even offer runner-up funding prizes, write a check to Haiti.
As with Brewster's Millions, the key problem is people wanting to help you save for the future and not blow all your money at once
Leasing an island might work, (buying wont bc you have to sell it for market price), while hiring mercenaries you can only have 100 employees max
@@chadliu5005 Behold, the power of subcontracting:
Step one: Hire a relatively small staff of, shall we say, five people. Create the "Foreign interventions for the lulz" department. Give them a budget and some guidelines.
Step two: They hire mercenaries using the budged you granted them.. The mercenaries work for the corporate entity you created / the people you hired to hire them.
Step three: Burn vast quantities of cash.
However, seeing as the ammount was actually just 135 Million USD, the challenge is actually fairly easy and does not require such shenanigans. Travel expenses and luxury rentals will do the trick alone since your staff generates suffiently vulgar expenses.
One of the easiest ways to burn the money: Yacht racing. Rent a bunch of Yachts, for a big one, you are looking at rates of multiple hundreds of thousands per week.
Fireworks also count as consumption as do private shows. On top of that, an inellegant yet viable solution:
THERE IS NO ANTI GAMBLING CLAUSE!
So it can all stay in VEGAS!

Have a private army and invade some no name country.

Since I play goalkeeper I loved that the protagonist was one. I wish I had seen this movie fully, but the summary was good.
Man is lucky when he doesn’t want to , I’d laugh hearing that

Yu-Gi-Oh reference
i don't understand who copied actually. But this movie is available in Tamil Nadu , Indian state named as "Arunachalam - 1997" .
acted by superstar "Rajanikanth". This is a perfect replica. Arunachalam is a superhit movie in south india.
Step 1: Hire 100 people.
Step 2: In their contract, stipulate X amount of Yuan as severance pay.
Step 3: Fire them.
This could have been done very easily lol
This is genius
I mean there was nothing in the rules (at least as explained by this video) that stopped him from just hiring 1 person and paying them 1 billion yuan.

Commission a work of art for 1 Billion dollars. Sell it back to the artist for a few bucks. Buy a victory drink.
You can't purposefully devalue any asset. He would have to sell it at market value. He also can't grossly overpay for services rendered.
@@postonpublishing3286 "You can't purposefully devalue any asset."
Not only is that *not* one of the conditions outlined in this arrangement, the value of a new work of art is inherently subjective. Its value is determined by whosoever owns it.
"He also can't grossly overpay for services rendered."
And the artist has not been grossly overpaid for services rendered, as the value of an artist's labor is inherently subjective.
@@TheInfiniteSheldon I see he did not use the words in the movie but summed it up... yes you can not devalue an asset... it was the rules you also can not over pay...
so if you pay someone to make something that has a value of dollars... YOU OVER PAID...
Dude had to spend like 8 m usd... buy a building... done money gone rofl.
It was not DOLLARS here it was yen... not hard to spend 8 million not at all.
@@mattlane2282 " yes you can not devalue an asset..."
And as previously stated, the art has not been devalued as its value is inherently subjective.
"it was the rules you also can not over pay..."
And as the cost of newly created art and the associated creative process is *also* inherently subjective, one would not overpay in commissioning such a work.
In this case, the man commissioning the creation of the work has sole discretion in the value of the artist's labor, and also has sole discretion on the value of the work of art itself. No rule has been broken.
@@TheInfiniteSheldon The people taking charge won't think of it that way
If he would have donate it to a WSB redditor, the challenge would have ended in one day for sure
One of the rules are, he CANNOT donate any of the money.

Put the money in extremely retarded 0 DTE Options. The next day you either have lost 99% of you money or 10x it. In that case repeat this formula until you archieve 99% loss on a day. Spend the last 1% and complete the challenge
Why doesn't he gamble that money, would take about five minutes to spend that money 🥃
Gambling is illegal in China. It was in the rules at the beginning
I bet he’d win all of the games and have even more
Movie: Spend 1 billion yuan in 30 days
Me: Get GOT7 on the phone, they need to pack their bags for a month 🤣🤣🤣
Simple, create a shopify store, create a digital product for 1 billion, buy that item, Shopfiy will take 2.2%, 6 days later the rest will go back into your bank account, so even if the money does go back in, by definition of spending money, you have still spent 1 billion
Spend money on art, then “sell it” to private collectors for like 10$ and spend the rest of the money on ice cream. Easy. It’s not charity cause you commissioned the artists for an exorbitant amount of money and the private collectors would take those paintings in a heart beat.
just Buy all the liquid hidrogen stock in the world and then vaporize it
you over paid... and for the other fool you destroyed the asset...
This was against the rules, i think, he wasn't really allowed to 'overpay' for stuff
Hes not allowed to overpay for stuffs.
And if he really does commission an artist to draw, the drawing remains as his asset and he cant technically destroy it
So, basically Brewster's Millions, in which the titular character has to blow through 8 million dollars in one month and have nothing to show for it by the end, and is not allowed to tell anyone why, or else he doesn't get the other 80 million dollars.
Is it any good?

Well, he should've spent all money in buying real estate. That's actually really easy.
Real estate is an asset, and he cant have any assets left at the end of the month.
Wow.. what a surprise.. there is a movie called Arunachalam in our regional language with the same story line.. spend 1 crore (10 million rupees) INR in 30 days to get 30 crore rupees. Its a pretty huge amount back in 1997 and the movie was just amazing. Just learnt from other commenter that there are several remakes/inspirations from the original. I enjoyed this movie throughly.. kinds of my favorite movie in my teens.. Rajnikanth spends all the money on rich lifestyle (renting star hotels), producing movies, horse racing, finally into politics.
Never heard of the original but it will surely be fun to learn the similarities of these movies on how they spend the 1 billion.
Not gonna lie- that land swimming machine is freaking hilarious!
Makes me wonder how it really works

Arunachalam was 1997. Brewster's Millions was the same plot released in 1985, but the *book* it was based on (also called Brewster's Millions) was written in 1902, yes 120 years ago. According to the wiki page, some *thirteen* movies have been made from the plot, including 4 Indian ones.
I could easily spend it all on gacha and figurines in one day
Can't keep any assets I believe
Brewsters Millions is the original movie from the 80’s. Richard Pryor and John Candy played it best.
The Richard Pryor version was the 9th adaptation of the original novel. lol.
