for future videos: could you please make sure to always mention how many meters (elevation gain) the riders must climb by themselves? because it is easy to find total numbers, but they also include the ones by funicular or other means of transport. it would be really interesting to better understand the effort the riders are making for these races! TIA!
Good stuff - Is it possible to add the nationality flags to the leaderboards and captions. Its nice to see what countries are involved when you are learning all the different riders.
It would be cool if they had a go pro footage from the top riders. Just make all of them wear one then take the footage from the top 3. And maybe some split screen to simulate some head to head race footage. Anyway thanks for the footage and awesome recap GMBN love you guys!
Those riders are just amazing. So skilled. And good coverage too. Something about the format made me recall getting up early on Sunday mornings to watch Trans World Sport back in the 90s 😂. I mean that in a nice way!
We need more races with these brutal climbs. Otherwise Enduro just seems like the IndyCar to WC Downhill looking like Formula 1. Throws in a genuine variable unique to Enduro
I agree, i done a few enduro races and those climbs are brutal. However i think it helps differentiate it even more to DH, and makes then more interesting and challenging.
Or even really tight/technical switchbacks or long transitions that aren't too steep (where you wouldn't hike-a-bike). There are a few enduros out there where you probably could take a full downhill bike and do better.
My understanding is the Pro Race is only for the pros - seems obvious! The EWS is not only for pros, it for those invited through a name in a hat process, and amateurs who have qualified.
It would be super interesting to see a few more stats: Stage by stage timing + overall after each stage, distance covered and altitude gained on transfers, and maybe even some times from the 80/100 people, as a reference of how a more average human being compares to these amazing riders. Great coverage and amazing photography! Those drone shots are really changing how races are covered.
This is a tricky sport to cover. Downhill you can just plonk cameras on the track and that’s it, but considering how much ground these riders cover, you’d need a small army to do the same for enduro.
Totally agree. And it's a shame, I think we're missing a lot. Right now the best insight one gets is by watching the "onboard" footage of different riders but as good as that is, is way too late for the live experience. Some sort of real time "onboard" broadcast would be 🤤🤤
Good coverage, but be cool to see some onboard footage. If the top 20 riders were required to carry a camera, that would be cool. Loved seeing Doddys segment too
That's very very difficult for us to do! We're working on developing the coverage but with an event on this sheer scale, it's a challenge that will take a little while!
More raw footage of the race, please please please with a cherry on top. I could watch 20-30 mins of raw footages of the toughest sections of the stages and see how the pros took different lines etc and crashes as well
We hear you, but 4k would mean the highlights would be out days after the event due to the extra processing/file transfer time. Never say never though!
For a highlights package, there's a bit of a lack of highlights from the round. 5 mins at the start on last season? bike check segments? Seems like they are other videos content, not a highlights package of Val Di Fassa
They mentioned he struggled on one of the uphill sections on a stage and he also said he struggled to maintain his flow on an especially rooted section
Correct Patrick, it's an event on huge scale spanning multiple mountains and hillsides with their own logistical challenges. But we're working on developing the coverage in the years to come!
@@gmbn It was very good especially since it was the first one! EWS will never have the same coverage as DH and XC but if it keeps on improving that doesnt mean it cant be quality content
I'm sure the riders see this as racing but the coverage looks simply like a random bunch of guys riding down some great trails. There is no tension at all! Names of the riders need adding to every shot and the commentary should describe their race position as it goes on. If getting enough video cameras out there is a problem then design the courses so its closer and more compact.
Very little chance of that Nick! That would mean that coverage is released much longer after the event due to working on two different edits.... and then it's favouritism to release one before the other! We think that would add a bit too much more to it all
Downhill is just one final run on a track you can practice for several days. Enduro is separated into different stages that riders have only ridden once and you need to pedal up the hill in time between the stages.
You can keep up with the timings on a live feed, but there's no live footage. We work hard to bring you these highlights as soon as we can after the event!
Not really a fan of doddys segment halfway through, feel it breaks up the pace of the race highlights too much. Especially as we have great tech coverage in separate videos.
Nice to see EWS back in action !:) However, it was disappointing to see lack of diversity in the commentators panel especially as women's field is equally exticing to watch and there are plenty of women experts that could take part !
Yea I assumed the chainsaw was a tree worker clearing brush that had been previously removed from the track...if it's fans making noise that's idiotic and definitely doesn't fit into the environment of MTB
I’m sure they have to comb through hours and hours of footage from multiple cameras. It takes time to edit all that down and add graphics. With all the work that goes into the editing process I think they put out the video very quickly. If you don’t want the results spoiled then just wait a day to watch the highlights and don’t look up the results right away
@@ViciouzCyclez yeah and why not ask everyone involved not to post anything on their social media so that your idea would be actually possible.... Why not do sth around the queen stage put some cameras on this stage stand at the buttom catch some semi live excitement.. Maybe have a pre show with footage and standings from the previous day. I start to loose faith in their abilitys tbh. its so many years now and the coverage is still absolut crap
Constructive Critique: The vids from 2020\2019 and all the years before were way nicer editet , better music, the whole video had a natural flow to it! Now it just seems like its WAY too much talking (weird mid-race bike indroduction) the presenters talking too much. I like the riders interview but they could be more like a voiceover over the riding footage. Furthermore you guys had like 10 cameras at the event?! You show the same camera angle literally 20 times. Camera angles and locations didn't vary. Dont get me wrong I love the videos, but the editing doesn't seem to be on the level it was, even back in 2020! Also now what I recognized the music stops when the riders are talking, when back then it just got a little bit more quiet. This also takes the natural flow of the video away.
Glad to see the racing back but what is this crap? I want to watch a race recap without freakin infotainment! Come on! Why is EWS now with GMBN ? This is absolute horseshit.
There's far more to play for this week! Stay tuned for official Highlights of the EWS Round 2, coming this Saturday!
Finally some races :) Bring it on!

Do the accents not really give it away?
It’s good to have a break from that I think. It’s good to find out if you have an interest in a rider when you do some digging on them.

Jack Moir. What a legend.
Footage has taken a big step up this year. Loved that ridgeline shot.
Cheers Steve! Appreciate that 🤘

Huge Application for covering this for us !!!
Gotta love that autocorrect😄

Yeah that's what enduro mtb race is all about DH and uphill more like 80% Natural trails with 20% steep technical climbs.

Congrats to black jack, ews dark horse and all the winners from the Philippines!
They call him 'Shark Attack Jack' :) - He did so well!
Great recap! such close racing! the weather could make round 2 a very different affair!
Exactly! It's definitely going to be a very different race!

I saw nukeproof and then chain reaction and I knew it was my man Sam Hill
Ironically Sam's team mate Elliott Heap managed to finish three places ahead of him. I don't think anyone, least of all Elliott, expected that.
I think they should play Tutti Frutti by little Richard when someone goes down the tutti frutti trail

What happened to the camera guy at 6:06
He ducked under the tape to get a shot of the next rider from the other side. Unfortunately not a fall, but we had to watch it a few times to confirm!

I kind of agree, tho feel bad for saying so cos I think Doddy is great. It was sort of interesting but it felt a bit shoehorned in.
This sport should always be captured in 60 fps, they just move too fast, along with dynamic cameras, it looks way too choppy and eye straining
