For those who’re wondering, the reason he ported these to the final game was because the beta build was crashing on a memory exception screen upon boot up on a modded Xbox.
So that's why! I had a feeling that there must be a reason for the game to have less tracks, and I'm pretty sure the sewer speed way level would've been having the anti gravity mechanic, that's some nice discovery, beta!
Damn. Imagine how crazy it would've been to officially have *_3_* different versions of some of the CTR tracks if they actually had the time for this (OG, CNK remake, CTRNF Remake)
Wasn't there an image or concept art for this scrapped "Retro Mode" of CNK? I remember it years ago but I'm not sure if I've found it since. Was it on a developer's site or something?
Dude, imagine how awesome it would've been to play on the OG CTR tracks in Nitro Kart. This is easily one of the biggest wasted potentials I have ever seen in a Crash game.
That would have been super awesome playing the tracks from the previous games into this game. There was also a scrapped Lava Island racetrack from Wrath Of Cortex, and the repeated tracks make it seem possible to go into a Crash Racing game. I wonder if a different track took care of it, but I do not notice it.
There may have been more CTR tracks in later builds, but all the same, they were cut due to time. Because if the unfinished collision here is anything to go by, they would not have had the time to fix it.
This is really cool, it's a shame that Vicarous Visions never got the chance to fully implement the OG CTR Tracks in CNK, at least we have CTR Nitro Fuelled that brought both games together, mostly.
@@bobafett4265 this game is built on crash team racing it makes no sense adding a whole another story mode if the game was only called crash nitro fueled then maybe
And it was originally going to be developed by Traveller's Tales with their newly found Oxford Studios division at the time before Vivendi Universal transferred the project to Vicarious Visions.
Thanks for showing this I know I wanted to play this prototype but the Xbox Classic emulator I had didn't work here on my pc, I wanted them to reveal maybe a prototype of the ps2 version!
Oh dear god, Sewer Speedway's prototype has a lot of unusually placed hitboxes. The idea of the legacy tracks (CTR's tracks being remade onto CNK) falls on the same category as the bosses being unplayable.
Woah! I don't believe it at all. First we had the multiple leaked prototypes of the original PS1 trilogy, then Twinsanity and CTR, after that TWOC, and now we have this?!
I just remembered at one point VV wanted to do a remake of all the ctr tracks for cnk but they never managed to do so. I think these were the leftovers?
Hey I know you could can Crate something becuase now you are a huge Twinsanity fan and I just look at Atomical Sloths Video Around April fool's where in the Credits where is a Joke Where Crash bandicoot would Return and you seen one of Speedrunners get WR'S within 4 Minutes and so I thought about what the Next Mod would you Develop the Next Mod Beta M Call Crash Twinsanity April Fool's Edition Since April Fool's day is Coming in 30 Days would you??????
Honestly, I see why these tracks were never finished. Meanwhile, most of CTR's fun came from it´s bouncy physiques, CNK's gameplay focused more on the Boost. so for these to work on CNK, VVs would have to change a lot of those tracks, losing a lot of their charm (like CNK tracks on NF)
For those who’re wondering, the reason he ported these to the final game was because the beta build was crashing on a memory exception screen upon boot up on a modded Xbox.
You cannot play the beta on a modded Xbox? I wonder if it is Bios related because I do have a couple of beta/prototype games on my modded console.
@@Manic_Panic Me and BetaM tried playing it but we just get the Memory Exception error on start up
@fr0ggeri do
Imagine if we got Sewer Speedway with those anti-gravity karts
lame, the big jumps are way better
@@DamageMaximo It would extend the track while keeping what else is still there instead of what the Nitro fueled did to Hyper space way.
Isn't Deep Sea Driving the best analog of this?
@@destroyermcw626you hate nitro fueled?
It will be worse, because anti gravity areas makes the kart slower

It looks like they are ripped directly from CTR's files or source models.
I think there was supposed to be a mode where all the ctr tracks were playable which was cut
cnk was originally supposed to be ctr remake if I remember correctly
you guys are remembering all this stuff, but do you have a viable source to confirm if its true?

Oh, so they DID start making them, I thought it was just an idea, scrapped before actually starting doing it.
Surprising that these discovered 18 years later
Man this is interesting...

I just remembered at one point VV wanted to do a remake of all the ctr tracks for cnk but they never managed to do so.
I think these were the leftovers?
Well it's because some of the CNK tracks are just basically an alternative version of CTR tracks
This is kinda amazing
wow that's actually so sick

We need a texture mod that puts the PS1 textures on these tracks
