What do you guys think is going on with that cable?

I'd try and look up the history of the area maybe? Those are some super beefy cables. I'd put money that someone just dumped it out there way back in the day and the tree grew around it, but that's boring and not a cool story ha. The throw line blues are real had my own today hahaha. Take care man one day at a time is what I do and that's all I can do.

Great looking Oak. Looks like a big fun climb. I'm glad you found the time and the energy to get out and do something that you love/enjoy. Sometimes the hardest thing is starting something, hope you're able to find some more time for yourself. Small steps lead to small wins for your mental space. Thanks for the video Cheers!

Great video. I'm a rec tree climber as well and would like to make some climbing videos that also incorporate stories as well. I felt your pain with the throw line... its the worst part for me as well. AS for the cable, seems like its there to stabilize the tree -- but its in a location that doesn't make sense. Why would someone go through the trouble to do so for a tree out in some random woods?

Nice tree find! There is a rock climb at Palisade Head called danger high voltage. It has a burly cable like that running down it. It was installed as a ground wire for the cell tower on top of the rock formation. Strange, also that dead seam down the side looks like lightning damage.

The tree has been struck by lightning.

what are you so depressed about?!. you’re married, no kids and have money and gear to climb trees for a living and life.. you should be pretty stoked about what you’ve accomplished so far in life..🤘🏼

Thank you man! Somedays it is hard to see the good things, but you're damn right. I've since made some positive changes for myself and things are getting better all the time!
