Please bring back a "non" lifted wagon. I am driving a 2013 TSX wagon and I get more questions and looks from people than I ever did when it was newer. It's a great bulletproof all around car. It just needed a little more power or a Type S version and it would be a huge hit.
Judging by CX-90, I-6 might be too expensive to maintain. It's not the best design if you can't even replace sparkplugs yourself... Not in the best Mazda traditions.
The 6 Sedan rendering looks better to my eyes, the hatch would be good but it looks like a Mirai. As long as Mazda brings it out and not as a CUV, it'll be good! New Prelude too- please with a manual!
Personally, I think sedans should go fastback routes it's practical and more space in the trunk. You might see some people buying sedans instead of CUV.
Exactly!! I still drive my 2009 Mazda 6 BECAUSE it was a hatchback trunk door, the space and ease of load is INCREDIBLE!! I still haven't had a situation where I couldn't fit something inside. It will accept a euro pallete with seats folded down 😂
@@lionintu I'm hoping it gets the 8-speed Skyactiv-Drive, especially since that's what the CX70/90 use with the I6. I'd like to try the eCVTs in the new Accord and Camry hybrids though.
Great wagons from VW, BMW, Volvo. The old Mazda 6 wagon had nice lines. Even Chrysler had a brief eye-opener. Estate hauler, city low rider, urban mover?
We’ve just upgraded our Mazda6. Can’t get enough of them!! Lucky enough to get the wagon here in Oz. I’d definitely go around again in a few years time, particularly if it were inline6 and RWD. For me, it’s gotta be the wagon.
@@solderbuff yeah, they’re fairly popular on Australian roads. Not many other candidates in the dwindling station wagon market. The turbo engine is a perfect marriage in the current platform.
The top grille almost looks CT5-V Blackwing-esque. That is not a bad place to start for Mazda using a bit of inspiration from the Cadillac V-Series Blackwings.
Kirk, if that wagon concept ever materializes with the I6 turbo RWD/AWD, I would jump on it in a hot second!!!!!! Maybe it' good that the Signia isn't being offered with the Hybrid Max, because i was all set to buy that.
I understand they're taking their brand "upscale" or more "luxury-oriented" but they also need to accommodate that with more power/better power-train. If they want to compete with BMW 3 series, Audi A3/A4, they need a more a more sporty transmission & more power.
They seem to be on the right track with the I6, they just need to get the tuning for it down. Can't speak for auto trans experience as both my Mazdas are 6 speeds, but they'll need to do some work anyways. The stock trans in the Miata just isn't up to snuff compared to the engine they paired it with.
I'm really excited for the Prelude. Civic hybrid reviews in europe were really good even among german reviewers like autogefuhl who's pretty critical of foreign brands, even he said it drove like a 3 series
The beige one was nice, hope they do a manual option for them. Doing a RWD base model with optional AWD would be nice from a consumer standpoint since there might be more on the road to buy used later on. Also hoping Honda makes a type R prelude with the CTR power plant
I think the new Prelude will have a Type R version few years later.....I hope they don't make that the only version with a manual....hope the base model does as well.
Still owning a GH series 2 Mazda6 hatch, love it, so nice to drive yet practical (looks better than the wagon for those who simply cannot accept wagon...). Would love to see new gen of Mazda6/Atenza with hatch / liftback body shape. Definitely gonna buy one (so 2nd gen + 4th gen). Mazda announced stop of Atenza production (still available in Australia for a while though), not sure about if there will be a 4th gen.
I’m currently driving a Mazda 6 and is a great car… I’m looking at a Lexus es 250 and the Cadillac ct5.. but if this comes out soon I’m for sure waiting for it…
Greetings from southern Ontario Canada when it arrives here i will want it but canada has strict guidelines for crashes and safety rules through the ministry of transportation
Even though a Mazda6 sedan will sell in lower volumes (was historically near the CX-9 sales volume before their discontinuations), given how popular the CX-90 PHEV has sold in the sales mix to not offer one would be a big lost opportunity. To the point where a new Mazda6 based on the fwd small platform to fit a hybrid/phev option and using the CX-50 powertrains doesn't seem unlikely. It would lock the car out of the performance mindset of higher level sedans, but it would lower itself to the accord/camry/sonata value level. And as there will be CN production along with the CX-50 a US produced mazda6 at the Alabama plant would further reduce costs if on the same platform. I don't want this to be the case, I'd really like to see the Mazda6 be shown against RWD sedans and not the TRD camry. But given how every 4th comment is about how expensive cars are and how a fully loaded g70 should be sold for 20k and the front desk girls' number, i can see a more economy offering being all too likely instead of a flagship. But a 929 on a RWD platform might be able to swing it...
I’m glad there is talk that the 6 will live on and especially the wagon. If it had come out this year it would have been my default next car but instead I’ll have to settle with a medium SUV

Pet peeve that all automakers seem to be doing with sedans these days: the abrupt back door window straight edge cutoff with a plastic cheat filler trim piece in the C pillar instead of glass. I prefer a proper Hofmeister kink so for that reason I prefer the liftback version.
If Mazda kept the design in that photo you shown of the potential M6, slapping that inline from the cx90 but rework that front end because it looks like a 2011 Chevy caprice PPV, they’ll be selling like no tomorrow!
Coincidentally I was just looking for a used Mazda 6. Liked the top version for the new 6, if that's how it ends up. Wouldn't complain about the bottom one either though it is less adventurous by my eye. Random thought here when I saw the CX-60 at the beginning was perhaps the next gen CX-5 is going to be closer to that in terms of design and space hence the CX-70 being just a CX-90 minus 3rd row and not what many were expecting, the CX-70 being a North American CX-60.
What I like about the blue rendering of the 6 is the face, the tail lights, the outline of the triangular window just behind the rear doors, the rounded profile of the doors overall, and the side profile of the rear window. I only wish Mazda could somehow adapt the rear trunk of the gold to the blue version. The scooped out pattern on the doors in the gold version seem very gimmicky and the bubble shaped roofline is somewhere between 1997 Ford Taurus and the current Alpha Romeo Giulia. C'mon Mazda, get that 6 to the US!
The perfect Mazda 6 at this point should be the size of a CT5 or BMW 5 Series which is around 195 to 199 inches in length. So in-between those would be the sweet spot

It probably is fully AI generated. Given how different the designs are there's probably not a lot of concrete proof, just guestimates based on design language.
