I missed it recently at the theater since it was supposedly only playing two days. Don't hide it, STREAM it . . . I would LOVE to see it!!! Thanks Cameron for all your great contributions.
Such a fan-tastic interview! As a fan of Crowe, Petty, Almost Famous, and just music music music in general, I love hearing insight into Cameron's process and his love of music. I want to go back and watch ALL of his movies again, lol
Fascinating interview! Loved Tom Petty for years and hearing how authentic his interviews were. Also love how he nudged Cameron Crowe to become more. So many wonderful films. ❤
"Let the music play" is exactly what I love about Cameron Crowe!!! I'm just finishing Jann Wenner's memoir which also gives a glimpse into the teenage Crowe years and it thrills me that he's still thriving many years later.
I’ve been a fan of his for years and had no idea he was a music journalist! I could tell he truly valued music-especially in Elizabethtown. Great interview
First let me say that I've been a fan of Cameron Crowe since Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I not only saw the movie during it's original release, I read the book that Cameron wrote. Since then I followed his career backwards (Rolling Stone) and forwards (movies). Now about Heartbreakers Beach Party. As a massive TP fan since 1982, I was able to get a hold of a video tape of the special/documentary in 1985 I think. . In those early years, I saw it often. I'm looking forward to seeing the polished and expanded version. (It's been a good 30 years since I put that video tape in a player.)
Great interview. Tom you have a way to really dig deep. So genuine. Singles and Almost famous are both on my top 10 for movies. I wasn't a teenager until 1980 but I was the youngest of 5 kids. My oldest sibling was 9 years older and my youngest was 5 years older, Almost Famous took to that era of music that I listened to in my young years through my brothers and sisters.
I've never really been the fanboy type, but for me and my life Cameron Crowe is the man! Growing up in Seattle I saw Fast Times in the theater with my mom at 12 years old (awkward!), and was obsessed with grunge at the time Singles was released when I was 22. Bought the soundtrack right away and was blown away by it. And Almost Famous is one of my all time favorites. No one integrates rock music into films like Cameron does! Also, KCMU was the UW college station. It still exists, but they changed the call letters to KEXP, and they moved out of the basement of the communications building at the UW and have grown a lot. It's still a great and eclectic station with a great mix. Thanks for this interview!
Thanks eh. Tom Petty is one of my favourite artists. I sat at the top of Mt Doug in Victoria BC with Room at the Top smoking joints too many times to remember. lol
Living legend 😎 'Untitled' aka 'Almost Famous' is the greatest movie ever made imo 🙂 Cameron is the Master at fusing great music to motion pictures. I had the pleasure of making him a bluray copy of the awesome 'Roadies' show he created back in 2016, and as a thank you, Cameron kindly sent me some awesome Roadies merch, including a personally signed poster taken from the show! 🤯 It proudly sits in a frame on my living room wall 😎 \m/
I happened to catch the Singles Premier Party when it aired & had a VHS in the ol' VCR in milliseconds. I was 13! Proceeded to watch it approximately one billion times 😆 Eddie was wild as hellllllllll. There are finally clips from it here on RUclips but there wasn't for way too long! Lost my tape in a fire decades ago. Singles is the most nostalgic movie for me, but I have strong visceral memories around pretty much all of Cameron's films. He really knows how to capture a moment. Fast Times was playing at my first make-out party 🤣
I own a copy of Fast Times at Ridgemont High, the book. It's a pretty rare thing. As far as I can tell there was only one printing. I've always wanted to ask Cameron Crowe if he knew how many copies were originally printed.
@@Leonard_Bast The book contains more detail than the movie. The movie waters down a lot. And I love the movie. Been a huge fan of it since it came out.
Canada's own Sarah Polley was originally set to play Penny Lane but she backed out. if you ever have her on ask her about that. Brad Pitt was orginally supposed to play Russell Hammond and he backed out during rehearsals. enter Billy Crudup.
Great interview! Almost Famous was and always will be one of my absolute favourite movies and yea it does make you obsessed with music.
Absolutely!! 😍😎
Same. I can always go back to it. So much captured a moment in time and music.
Same.. have seen Almost Famous SO MANY TIMES

Just so awesome! I was so happy to hear this from start to finish! Thank you.

This goes down as one of my favourite interviews ever!

That was a brilliant interview, thank you. A Cameron Crowe film about Joni... Yes!
Great job, what a superb interview!

Great interview
Great movie
Heartbreak Beach Party 🎉
Happy Birthday Tom
It was amazing Almost Famous is one of my favorites, I watch it occasionally but this movie has so many catchphrases.

Sir, my mind is blowing, blowing, blown. What a time to find you? So exciting; I’ll watch this space.
You asked a question no one has ever asked him! Rad! Much Love!
I cannot wait for the Joni Mitchell biopic to come out next year!
So cool... I really enjoyed listening to that conversation and loved those movies and all those great songs!!
Thanks eh. Tom Petty is one of my favourite artists. I sat at the top of Mt Doug in Victoria BC with Room at the Top smoking joints too many times to remember. lol
The BEST American rock band of all time
Almost famous! My favourite movie ever! ❤love Cameron Crowe, such a talent! Great movies
Enjoyed the Interview. 🎼🎸🎹🥁🎶
Thanks ☮️ 😁
RIP Tom Petty 🌹 🕊️
His movies are great but “Singles” had the most heart. No pun intended. Great video!
Thanks you two ! Very informative !

Thanks Art.
Terrific interview! Happy Cameron is coming back to movies!
The three hour Tom Petty documentary that came out on Netflix is awesome!! 🤘
Great interview👍
Yeahhh, you’re keepin me alive 🎶🎵 💕

It's priced at like 300-500$. But is the book any good or is it way better as a movie? Maybe there's a good reason it is out of print.
@@Leonard_Bast The book contains more detail than the movie. The movie waters down a lot. And I love the movie. Been a huge fan of it since it came out.
A hard days night made me obsessed with music
That So 25th Anniversary boxset up on the shelf there.
Tom was the fifth Beatle
the Kingsmen who had the hit Louie Louie were also from the Pacific Northwest (although from what I know they were a one-hit wonder)
Heck yes.
I'm confused,...I have a Still Water album,...so it's a real band. Right???

Damn the Torpedoes!
A part of this certainly fueled Cameron's approach to "Almost Famous".
HAD TO SIGN OFF BECAUSE THE INTERVIER SPOKE LIKE A MACHINE AND TOO FAST.
