Optimus Prime is a literal Red White and Blue Immigrant With a strong sense of morality and justice, who is big and strong, sounds like John Wayne, and yeah, is a semi truck. Is there anything more American than that?
Lmao. At a quick glance I thought I read “ Powermiser Optimus Prime” “ Darn it Bumblebee, for the last time turn off the lights when you leave the room! It runs up the electric bill!”
The original was a brick, as cool as it looked. The Titans Return version didn't have the cab robot as an option. They're probably in the top 50, but I wouldn't put either in top 10.
I'd probably take off the Toys Alliance Prime. It's really nice, don't get me wrong, but it's really nice because of it's price point and the fact they didn't have to engineer a Transformation for him. For me, a Transformers toy is remarkable when they can engineer a brilliant transformation that gets you a great robot and alternate form. TF toys are three-in-one for me, and the Mega Scale Prime is just one. I mean I know the "Til all are one" thing is important for Transformers but I don't like it being literal for the toys.
MP-10 really is amazing, I'd love to go back to the '80s and give that figure to myself as a child, I'd probably faint at the sight of such a huge, cartoon accurate figure!
Toy Galaxy I think I would have done the same come to think of it! I went through 3 original G1 Optimus Prime figures as a kid. One lost an arm, the other a leg, the final one managed to survive (and I still have him somewhere). I was probably a bigger nemesis to Prime than Megatron as a child!
Earthrise Optimus is my favorite. Basically Masterpiece quality, affordable, comes with a trailer. Beautiful paint, Matrix, everything I want in an Optimus.
MAS-01 is my favourite. It may not transform but I love the much better articulation than its competitors and it scales very well with 1/12 and 1/10 action figures.
It's right- but consider that thirty points of articulation are in the hands alone! Then you've got the chest opening, ankles double knees, double elbows, waist, head, hips, shoulders.... it's incredible. And it's 1:18 scale- 3.75" scale, not 6".
I'm curious about how this list would change now that we have Siege, Earthrise, and Masterpiece version 3 Op. Toy Galaxy you guys need to do some more top 10 lists.
Kenny McKinnon Agreed, the lack of Powermaster/God Ginrai in this list is appalling. I'd also throw in a shout-out to the Star Convoy figure just because it was so unique.
Supra TF Ginrai isn't Optimus, but PMOP is, and used the Ginrai mold. I'd have taken the 18 inch non-transforming Op off this list, and out the reissue PowerMaster Optimus with Apex Armor/Godbomber on instead, because it's perfect (and PMOP was my first Prime as a kid)
The super robot was a brick, with only shoulder articulation. The cab robot was barely better and had fake windows on its chest. The original was a better toy, and it was still only #4.
I love the cybertron optimus, it’s one of my favorite figures, but the ratchets in the legs have gotten loose and I’m pretty sure that the ratchets in one of the cannons is broken. Still is awesome though
The prices would be pointless. The only ones that would matter is the average official price of the thing as it came out. Inflation and the secondary market won't care about those numbers anyway.
If only you waited a few months, that new Leader Class "Power of the Primes" Optimus that was just announced would have totally made this list. His cab turns into a deluxe class Orion Pax! That's amazing!
There's always something new coming out. If we waited every time we wanted to do a list... we'd never make any videos. We prefer to just do them when we do them and then do a second or third volume later.
I'm willing to admit the nostalgia factor on my choice, but: classic G1 Power Master Optimus Prime is my favorite of all time. The new master pieces are great and all... but love is love.
Love that Hasbro Classics Optimus... It's the only legit Prime that I have, right now. Eventually I want to get my hands on a classic G-1, like I had when I was a kid. As well as one of those MP versions. Optimus was right up there with Superman, He-Man, Spider-Man, Batman, Lion-O and captain Kirk as some of the most influential and inspiring heroes to me.
I was too young to know what a 'WTF' was at the time, but I'm pretty sure that was the first time I ever actually experienced one, seeing that movie in the theater. Whoo-boy!
I think the Calibur Optimus prime was great. I am a huge fan of movie figures. So the Takara Tomy TLK 15 calibur optimus prime leader class was the perfect figure for me. It had Optimus’s Excalibur (battle axe) which he used against Megatron in dark of the moon , the sword which he got out of lockdown’s ship, his shield which transforms into the back of the truck so no horrible backpack , and (if you buy the limited edition one) the tiny sword he used in the forest in Revenge Of The Fallen before he was killed. The shield is parts forming but the rest of the figure makes up for it. I bought it along with The Last Knight leader Megatron and both figures are amazing. I got both of them for 120 Euro so about 140 dollars. So in all if you’re looking for two great leader class figures from the last knight you should get these two.
What, no Fire Convoy?! That thing was awesome. Yeah, it was a fire truck, which is a bit off-brand, but it had awesome articulation and the firetruck theme worked for him!
I'm still convinced that the Beast Wars version should not have been called "Optimus Primal," but instead "Ape-timus Prime." Hasbro should totally employ me.
My favorite was the rerelease of the G1 with the pack that clipped onto the front of the trailer that had three buttons for sounds - one for the truck starting, one for the laser gun shooting, and one shouting "I am Optimus Prime!" I recorded it for my voicemail in college so that everyone calling me heard "At the sound of the beep, please leave a message for, 'I am Optimus Prime!'" which led to my friends leaving great messages like, "Bumblebee here. We really miss you Optimus. Hot Rod sucks."
Hey! Randomly found your channel and love your stuff so far. Wanted to comment because I LOVE that someone else out there showed Cybertron/Galaxy Force Prime some love. One of my favorite versions of that character for sure.
I'm glad to see cybertron optimus be featured in this list cybertron was my introduction to transformers, yes his heavily armed truck mode is goofy but the heavily armed robot super mode is straight up BAD ASS. Just my opinion though.
Its awesome you just posted this. I spent all day yesterday researching Optimus figures to buy until i settled on the mp10 year of the horse platinum. this list would have helped me out a lot... yesterday haha. awesome list tho, love your vids so much!
Little disappointed that '95 Generation 2 Optimus Prime wasn't listed. It just looked way better with the black trailer and red Autobot symbol, then the classic gray.
i still love my gen 1. love the list shows. Really like the channel, thanks for making these videos they arr fun to watch informative and i usually always learn something. thanks.
The Alternators Dodge Ram SRT10 pickup truck version of Optimus Prime is a must have imo. Great articulation and size. Just looks kinda strange as a pickup truck in vehicle mode.
2006 I’ve had for ages and I didn’t know what it was from or it was just a knock off thank you for telling me that because it is a precious relic to me of history
Transformers: Cybertron was my gateway to Transformers, and I was pretty into it back when it was being shown on Cartoon Network and Kids WB. I got the Cybertron Optimus as a kid, and I still have it with me to this day (albeit a few parts are lost and forgotten to time). I'm still sad I never got to get Leobreaker or Wingsaber so I could do their combined forms.
I have the American version of #2 and I love all the details to it from his moving face plate to his removable matrix that opens up just like it did in the movie
Can't be bothered to look for other people commenting about it, but RID / Car Robots Optimus Prime is also fantastic. I too agree with people who love the FE Prime Optimus Prime, and the Animated Voyager. All three are outstanding. (Saw comments for the last two though)

The G1 version, including his face, will always be my Optimus Prime!
Is there a good 8 inch figure of G1 Prime?
did i miss Powermaster Optimus Prime? i feel heart broken :..(
Lmao. At a quick glance I thought I read “ Powermiser Optimus Prime” “ Darn it Bumblebee, for the last time turn off the lights when you leave the room! It runs up the electric bill!”

Great list Dan! Personally I'd add the First Edition Transformers Prime Optimus, it's just... so cool. Bumblebee next?
Who do you bump off to put F/E in there?
I'd probably take off the Toys Alliance Prime. It's really nice, don't get me wrong, but it's really nice because of it's price point and the fact they didn't have to engineer a Transformation for him. MP-10 really is amazing, I'd love to go back to the '80s and give that figure to myself as a child, I'd probably faint at the sight of such a huge, cartoon accurate figure!
I'd probably break it. Not on purpose. Thing just found a way to break from overplay.
Toy Galaxy I think I would have done the same come to think of it! I went through 3 original G1 Optimus Prime figures as a kid. One lost an arm, the other a leg, the final one managed to survive (and I still have him somewhere). I was probably a bigger nemesis to Prime than Megatron as a child!
the transformers prime Optimus prime first edition is pretty good too.
His proportions have always bugged me. Loved the show. But that design of Prime just never clicked with me.
Earthrise Optimus is my favorite. Basically Masterpiece quality, affordable, comes with a trailer. Beautiful paint, Matrix, everything I want in an Optimus.
This list screaming massive update.
transformers animated voyager optimus prime was great too
Totally. I love all the Animated designs.
Toy Galaxy Animated was my childhood! Wanting to recollect all the toys.

after talking about the 18 inches tall and 72 articulation points, Optimus has destroyed a small neighborhood.
That Toy's Alliance Optimus is a complete MASTERPIECE.
Yup this list needs to be updated immediately.
MAS-01 is my favourite. It may not transform but I love the much better articulation than its competitors and it scales very well with 1/12 and 1/10 action figures.
The sound effects describing the 18 inch Optimus Prime..... can't stop laughing!! Well played, Dan! Well played sir!
That's all Producer Greg. I was laughing right along with you.
Now that Siege Optimus, Earthrise Optimus, and MP-44 Optimus (Ver 3)have come out, Id like to see Toy Galaxy do an update of this video!
i can't stopped laughing when you described the toy alliance Optimus Prime, i have the MAS-01 and MAS-01NP and they are both 18 inches tall. :-)
AND the eyes and Matrix light up!
I'm glad you included the war for Cybertron deluxe Optimus. I love that figure
Now that Michael Bay is done with the Transformer movies he should direct The Go-Bots

I absolutely love my MAS-01. All 18 inches of it!

Even though RotF was an abomination of a film, I loved that scene so much. The highlight of the whole dang film in my opinion! XD
The Beast Wars Optimal Optimus recolor to Optimus Prime is my all-time favorite.
I still have my rotf optimus and I still love it.
Super Fire Convoy brought back the combining Optimus gimmick and deserved a spot.
All of this Optimuses deserve to be in the list, the order it´s a matter of tastes, and of course the Master Pieces should be in #1.
I like how that Cybertron Prime's wing are facing the wrong way
No love to God Ginrai/Powermaster Prime? I'd take off at least three choices here to add that, or the updated one from this year.
Kenny McKinnon
Agreed, the lack of Powermaster/God Ginrai in this list is appalling.
I'd also throw in a shout-out to the Star Convoy figure just because it was so unique.
Ginrai isn't Optimus

The 2003 Transformers Armada Optimus Prime deserves some attention. It was a bit bulky but a heavy duty truck gets the design right!
