According to google stray dogs are a real problem in Portugal. I guess the Rally organizers can only do so much about that. I'm glad Thierry mentioned it in his recap though. You could tell he was not happy about that at all. Pretty sure he's a dog lover too.

exactly. The main reason is that people are becoming less and less able to take care of their dogs. Here in Baltar there is a whole family of dogs and this dog that was run over was part of the family but mainly he was part of my school, he was very special to all the students. He was considered the school's mascot, he even had a name, Caramelo, because of the color of his fur (in this case he had several names but Caramelo was what they called him most). He was more than just a dog, he was like a friend to all the students, teachers and staff at that school. We will never forget him and thank you to everyone who is offering their condolences for Caramelo! 😞

@hyunjinando i would like neuville stop his run to try anything for this dog . It was clean for this part but not happend than this . Sorry for that dog . Don t have anything against neuville but for the next time it will be nice to not overpass on incident than this .

Am I the only one who thought it was really weird how the commentators just acted like the dog incident didn't happen?
I think if they gave it attention it would make rally look bad. You can tell they saw it and felt bad but couldnt mention it
As the guy above me said I think they're required to avoid mentioning it or something. In Kenya when lappi hit a zebra in the face like in the jaw they barely mentioned it

I just personally think it makes it way more uncomfortable to totally suppress a disturbing incident that just took place before everyone's eyes. Like, of course driving fast cars in a wild setting has certain ... side effects. Let's acknowledge that and not be all weird about it

@Fia Wrc Would you mind reasonable prolonging the appearance time of the spec sheet fade-in‘s prior start. Nobody can read this that fast. Secondly, the sound of the driver interviews after the shakedown was too low. Cheers

It's a rally stage its never closed no matter the country; a few years ago in Germany a tractor got on a stage and a polo almost hit it; it's rallying always been like this always will

Probably shouldn’t stream live or at least have a delay. That dog should be censored. You can see the pain in its face. No ones fault. But yeah not nice to see. I wish I could unsee that.
"No ones fault" It's the organizer's fault. The sections should be secured so that no person or animal should be there (especially since it was a short test section...)

@@joseeduardobras9901 This should be a closed zone (it's not a safari). That's what security people are for. This dog shouldn't be around this place at all. I'm guessing it's a stray animal, so the organizer didn't make sure the issue of such animals was resolved before the event started. Well, it's hard, it happened. Now they should work to prevent this from happening again.

So some rounds are in danger of being kicked out of the WRC or ERC for safety reasons, but Portugal is ok and they can't secure the TEST ROUND from animals? $hit happens but it is pathetic
You're asking something unreasonable. If rally organizers had to secure this kind of roads from smaller animals like that poor dog, they would need to have A LOT more marshalls than usual to the point where most organizers would not be able to host these rally events.
@@Franko384 They don't always have to be marshals. If it's a stray dog (I doubt the owner would let the dog go like that), then the problem is local. Then the organizer and local authorities should sort it out before the start of the rally. As you can see, they didn't fully take care of it. Let's hope this doesn't happen next time, because I'm not saying to remove Portugal from the WRC, but I see that some locations are treated better than others and their organization and safety issues are not any better...
Safety issues are always taking in mind spectators and drivers; not animals.
Don't be too quick to blame the rally organisers! Here in Australia crews have to contend with wild creatures including kangaroos hopping through the bush and wombats that cross the roads oblivious to the passing rally cars. Rally organisers do their best to secure the roads by careful use of officials along the route, being used to limit interference by spectators and other other members of the public but it is impossible to deal with every possible situation, especially when dealing with wild creatures... dogs on stages, possibly domestic varieties, however, are different. I'll bet that it will be difficult to locate its owner! I feel sorry for the dog and the rally crew who hit it. The dog simply should not have been there. If the owner is found, Hyundai should sue them for any damage that it may have caused to the vehicle.
Really? Trying to compare an impossible thing to control, most of the times(animals), with the irresponsible acts of crazy people? Should i remember you, about the reason why Rally de Portugal was out of the WRC for six years? Really hope to see the same measures applied to other stages.
