A prime example of British engineering excellence. Blue Peter looks absolutely wonderful. Takes me back to when I used to drive a 11 tonne Marshall Steam Traction Engine, towing a trailer. Ok. it didn't run on rails, or have brakes to speak of, but it did have a steering wheel. There was nothing better than doing a road run, with the wind in your face, doing about 8mph, but the best bit was when we stopped to take on water. We would be soon surrounded by Mums, Dads and their children, all looking on in awe at this big metal beast that was driving on the road. Those days are far behind me unfortunately. But I love steam traction, and always will.
Hi there. forget flying scotsman. for me this is my favourite kettle. last saw her at neville hill back in 1970s and used to watch the programme of the same name on which she appeared. thanks for the shots . caroline
Remember as a 13 year old seeing her go through Chesterfield in the mid 1960’s while still working for British Rail in rather a grubby state…lovely to see she’s been restored to her former glory
Looking forward to seeing this in action, hopefully soon. Saw it at barrow hill during the great gathering run up when it was painted in 2 different liveries on either side of it. The Severn valley railway know what they are doing by allowing testing to be done over their lines. Certainly makes you want to visit to catch a glimpse
Everything about this engine I love... the history of what happened in 94, its a little eerie. But I can't wait to finally meet this loco in june/july as its doing a tour down my way! Brilliant video! 😊
I agree. I love the blue on Gresley and on Tornado when it carried it about 10 years ago, but this livery just doesn't do it for me. Might as well have painted it orange. A2s were the only LNER Pacific class never to have been painted in BR Express Blue. Blue Peter spent its first 18 months in apple green (with 'British Railways' on the tender), then from September 1949 it carried BR Green until withdrawal.
Looks amazing. As a young lad, I liked Blue Peter as it reminded me of Flying Scotsman as it was in apple green, but at the same time I wondered why it wasn't blue due to its name. I guessed Blue Peter would be turned out in BR blue when it was announced that it would share the spare water tender with Sir Nigel Gresley. I imagine the colour will go down well with the Blue Peter Programme. Would be good to briefly put the Blue Peter programme logo on the tender, I would have loved that as a kid.
I wonder how long her testing period will last, I’m off to Severn Valley this weekend anyway for the Bluey event with my family, and I’m going on the 6th next month with a friend from college..
Another lovely video well done great camera work as usual I am really enjoying your lovely videos and camera work keep your lovely camera work up I am really looking forward to seeing your next video I hope you get a nice video next time also when is your next video going to be on RUclips bye for now Philip
I truly look forward to seeing our hardwork upstage Scotsman in almost every objective way. I hope you enjoyed seeing what it was like on the footplate.
Great footage I missed that but captured Jeremey Hosping , and the final take of of the Locomotive 60532 Blue Peter,if you want to watch it ,its under my name on You Tube
Also SVR is a good proving ground, it has old and modern stock to test both types of braking, and a 50mph stretch (no passengers allowed above 25mph). Gresley did 500 miles of testing and running in at the SVR.
@@spankflaps1365 I can imagine when Great Central Railway soon connects to the mainline they'll be another good testing ground as well given the high speeds they can also do
Travelled on her loads as a kid including a return trip to Carlisle with her and sir Nigel gresley, I was also there the night in Durham when she destroyed her motion

A credit to everybody involved in the restoration
The restoration of this engine is incredible, it virtually looks like a new build
Perfect livery colour for me, we have enough black's and greens, fantastic video
I am so happy to see 60532 running. A credit to the team at LSL. Great video too.
This is awesome. I filmed the arrival the day before but couldn't make it back. So glad you were there for me to see what happened next. Thank you 😊😊
Nice one mate - I’ll take a look tonight - Busy week so far but keen to see BP arriving 👌👍
I remembers as a 2nd year apprentice ( 1972 ) visiting one of the workshops,at ICI Wilton during a restoration prior to the Blue Peter naming ceremony
Excellent set. Superb footplate shots. Thank you 👍👍👍

Wow, what a sight! Great video. Where would we be without Mr Hosking ?
Agreed there Phil - That’s very true indeed 🙏👍

Great video mate i do not agree with the choice of livery but they have done a superb job of restoring her .

You feel old when you realise the only footage you have of Blue Peter was filmed in the last century....😄
Any idea how long Blue Peter is at the Severn Valley for thanks
My God she looks beautiful in her new dress

Beautiful looking loco❤
I've noticed that she's been fitted with TPWS MK4, is she the first kettle to be fitted with MK4?
Looks like Blue Peter will be a highlight if it attends the Stockton and Darlington 200th anniversary celebration next year.

The Mk 3 sleepers been brought out for testing the air brake system?
Yes - They were on the move today 👍
I heard Blue Peter came on a lorry, why didn’t she just come to Kidderminster by mainline track?
Believe its because she currently isn't Mainline certified and hasn't had her running in trials yet, hence why BP is at the SVR.
Also SVR is a good proving ground, it has old and modern stock to test both types of braking, and a 50mph stretch (no passengers allowed above 25mph).

@@spankflaps1365 I didn't realise they had an authorised 50mph stretch for testing purposes! Where abouts is it?
@@spankflaps1365 I can imagine when Great Central Railway soon connects to the mainline they'll be another good testing ground as well given the high speeds they can also do
GCR ARE one of the licensed tracks where they can run up 60mph on certain sections and have been for a while.
Is it running again tomorrow at svr
Yep - It’s running again tomorrow 👍
Anyone know the interior of the 121?
We had her at Loughborough very popular and well liked second to the duke in my book
