“I told people I was a drummer before I even had a set, I was a mental drummer.” - Keith Moon.
It was in his inner vision board
Digital skills, hardwired in him. Had no kit at home, never practiced. Amazing.
Fun fact: Keith Moon was the godfather of Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr’s son). He actually gave the kid a drum kit for his birthday one year. And Zak now plays drums for The Who
One of the best stories I read in Olivier Reeds biography. Keith flew his helicopter Oliver Reeds grounds with a angry Reed firing his hunting shotgun at him whilst landing. Once landed Keith and Reed hugged each other other as if nothing happened and continued the day drinking and partying
You should do a Biographics episode about Bon Scott. I took drum lessons in school, but was never able to afford a set of drums.
2:20 - Chapter 1 - Early life
5:00 - Chapter 2 - The 1st bands
9:05 - Mid roll ads
13:10 - Chapter 3 - Who are you
16:15 - Chapter 4 - The music of keith moon
20:30 - Chapter 5 - The madness of keith moon
24:25 - Conclusion
I caught Keith's drumstick when he threw it into the audience @ The Grande Ballroom in Detroit Michigan USA. Was a prized possession for many years until I sold it along w/other Rock 'n Roll memorabilia
Moon & The Who are the best... thanks for the trip. great job.
And as Ringo, when asked " Are you a Mod orra Rockka ? " He replied, "I'm a Mocker". Hope he's the last one left standing.
I have this book with various crazy stories about rockers and there's a really good one about Keith Moon. Some guys on their road crew were former construction workers and used to work for the company that put up the buildings for this chain of hotels that they were staying at on one of their American tours. These hotels were these prefabricated buildings that could be taken down and put up using some sort of multi tool. They were always playing pranks on Keith and they used this tool they had to completely dismantle Keith's hotel room down to the bare. When they were done dismantling everything they piled the carpet and all the stuff in one corner . The doorway stood a few feet above the floor now instead of level with it. Instead of Keith walking in the hotel manager walked in, promptly fell.off the ledge, and broke his nose. Seconds later Keith Moon wanders by and wonders what's going on
I remember the Flint journal our newspaper had a picture of Keith Moon and the Lincoln Continentals rear end sticking out of at our Holiday inn on center road. So it did happen. I may have been a kid but I sure do remember it.
Fellow Michigander here, (Saginaw), and I can vouch for this story, too. It made in our paper also.
Rest in peace 🙏
Keith Moon
23 August 1946 ~
7 September 1978⚘
Some of the brightest talents are the quickest to self-destruct.
Keith Moon will forever be remembered as a problematic, but once-in-a-generation level of drummer ability.
Do one on Jon Bonham please 😊
Something about drummers, the best are all nutters. 😂
Keith the loon was a true party animal
And the Who is forever iconic mostly because of Keith
Pete Townsend was pretty wild too who are you is about his debauchery lol and he encouraged most of Keith's antics in the hotel rooms him and John entwhistle
I'm glad to see a sympathetic portrait of such a tragic individual. Truly a force of Nature, he was.
Reminds me of my Uncle Ernie. I'll never forget him
Have you heard the story of when he was locked in his hotel room by the other members of The Who to keep him under control, but Oliver Reed was in the room next to him and he actually smashed a hole in the wall to go out on the town with his mate!!! Wild child to be sure, but he certainly could play drums, look at all the old videos, he uses every part of the kit!!!
Keith Moon was fired from the Who the week they released Who Are You. His alcoholism and drug use had started to affect his ability to play.
I disagree, Mooney sacked them, chemical difference's.
@Luckipete I was a Who fan. I was 23 when Moon died. You can go back to interviews given around the time of his death, and this was mentioned. He was devastated when he was fired from the band. It was one of the hardest decisions the band ever made. However, he could no longer play the drums on a reliable basis.
@@shawnnewell4541 Sorry, I'm a huge Who fan and have seen them many times, I was taking the pi**.
@@Luckipete😂
To be fair… his alcoholism affected his ability to play since 1973 and really impaired him in late 1976-early 1977
Karl, you look like Keith Moon! You could say you're the Keith Moon of Biographics hosts you rock star you!
“I love to see people laugh and I love it more if I can make them laugh”
Keith Moon
Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Well written, read and produced as usual. Thank you for more brain food on a music legend. Rip moon the loon
Moon the Loon! The rockstar who invented throwing t.v. sets out of hotel room windows!😂😂
Keith was certainly a force of nature. He was also a pretty damn good drummer. A very unique style.
I don't like the "AI generated" pictures, but that's about it. 🤫
Amen
Karl Smallwood is a great host!
I'm a fan.
Good work.
The ai looks like bill wyman
Ever consider doing an episode on Bill Wilson?
Very interesting man who continues to have an impact on society today.
Amazing video as always karl! Suggestion: Henry vii the furst tudor
Karl, have you watched Quadrophenia or is it just in the script? I'm asking because not too many people have seen it and even less people your age. Would be very admirable if you have. Great job anyway.
It's a classic 💪
Awesome, can we get Lemmy next?
Still alive lol
@@AdamOBrien29 No he isnt
@@natelandherr5202 oh sorry wrong Lemmy
Karl, you Crack me up! Lol 😊
Could do one on either Lemmy or Rob Halford
The AI pictures are awful. Please stop.
Absolute legend
Karl, I have a Jurassic World body pillow on my bed. Full respect
Do an episode on the late Neil Peart. Greatest drummer in Rock.
Oh please enough is enough we are constantly hearing about Neil Peart😮 now don't get me wrong I love Neil Peart I've been listening to him since his first American tour with Rush but personally I need a break from him. And he is not the greatest rock drummer he is certainly one of them. However, Carl Palmer is better and certainly bill bruford Terry Bozzio and Ansley Dunbar or just as good😮
Depending on the version, it was a Cadillac.
Forget about all the sensationalist bollocks & listen to the work: Keith Moon was a superb, unique musician.
Let's be honest with ourselves. Living costs us all our lives, no matter what.
Dude was a prototype, never intended for mass production or consumption, but we should be grateful that someone somewhere somehow slipped up just enough for this to happen.
that AI linclon looks like total Ai, please stop using Ai it's jarring.
5 minute ad is wild
Please do Pete Doherty. Fan of the libs & shambles from Pittsburgh pa 🇺🇸✌️
I had the opportunity to meet Alice Cooper in September of 2023. He was one of the nicest, down to earth people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Not as nice as Lajon Witherspoon, but a close second.
You have to do a video on Auguste Comte: the first sociologist. The guy was a literal nut; he wrote a letter to the pope to hand down his power to sociologist (yeah he thought sociologists were gods)!
His nephew went to my high school, he was a couple of years above me but seemed to be a fairly similar type of person
Charlie Fox?
I saw The Who live 3 times in the 70s, twice with the Mooner and the final time with the other guy. The contrast could not be more stark. The day after that last concert, The Who actually apologized for their performance in the local press.
He was the engine that fired the band. And I'd even say the heartbeat. ❤
Rock N Roll was too tame. Thank you Moony.
How about something on the great Carl Palmer😊
What was his relationship with the Whos in Whoville? 😂 Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Where's Simon at?
As an American I ask "Seventy five nicker"?
20:35 - That's far from true kids.
If I get started-there issa now-called city near my birthplace of Vancouver, called Surrey. So many bad jokes told about the place because it was considered to be the boonies, back in the day. Here's one, " What do you say to a Surrey guy inna suit ? A: Will the defendant please rise. " Also, intha grunge days it was called rockin' the flannel. Mr.Neil !
How you gonna hate on the great jimmy Paige, he's literally one of the best guitarist of all time
"All the stories you've ever heard about Keith Moon are true and you've only heard 10%" all honesty i dont know who said this but i remember the quote :)
Alice Cooper
Good biographic of the great Keith Moon. Informative and intriguing by far. Not a fan of the AI depictions, however. Would prefer real images.
Do a video of gg allin. Hes great lol
Boris The Spider!!!!
No more ai photos. Actual photographs exist.
May he reside in Peace. I think that I'm ready for the World, today. Question is, issit ready for me ? We'll see.
The ai depections need to go.
I don’t mind you as narrator don’t have to listen to naysayers 😊
Might you consider legally changing your name to Big-stick ?
No, I think Karl is an ok name. A little marxist, but ok.
@@MrTexasDan Well, I consider myself a Socialist -notta card-carrying Communist : yet.ĺ I try to make no apologies for my name , my looks or the colour of my skin. We all bleed red. BT'dubs . Do you know what the opposite ovva Socialist is ? An anti-socialist !
Do john bonham
Biographics Pixies & Elves 5:10 "
Ten Bob for 30 minutes" Bob was a Shilling a Shilling is 5 pence so 10 Shillings is 50 pence.
Which he said immediately after
Using and supporting the use of AI........the biggest regret. Ooooooo I hope to live long enough to see.
Great drummer but a drunk who could not save his own life.
Keith Moon likely had raging ADHD. All the traits were there
Please don't use AI pictures! If you can't get original photos licensed then USE NOTHING!
Still not Simon!!
10 bob is 50p
Never replace smallwood! Hes awesome 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Terrible , those pictures just terrible , and the cut off denim at the beginning !!!! Ahhhh !
A big fat NO! to the AI depictions... Truly AWFUL! 👎
Please stop with the AI generated images. They’re terrifying.
I get the feeling this particular Biographic should've been 3 to 8 hours long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Count Dankula *CERTAINLY NEEDS* to do an Absolute Mad Lads on this man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
why this dude is adding so much trashtalk inbetween the Bio? no need for that
Moon the loon
Come back Simon
Keith Moon is my favorite drummer of all time, and I still think his solo album is awful.
Keith Moon is highly overrated almost as much as John Bonham and Ginger Baker😮 don't get me wrong they are all good drummers however they get way too much acclaim when there are several drummers that could clean their clock😊
😂😂😂😂
@@juliebryne2903 I'm glad you agree
The AI depictions are stupid, flaccid and disingenuous. The Who are also known as being the loudest rock band ever (until recently). Facts matter.
Please stop with the cheesy Ai depictions, it leads to research laziness. The channel is better than this.

I love Keith Moon... But he couldn't keep proper time on the drums hence all the drum rolls in his playing.
Pete Townshend, Keith Moon was the worst drummer they constantly had to re arrange the music to suit his lack of talent.
Great guy, terrible drummer.
'Terrible' is a subjective assessment.
