One of her most underrated songs of all time. I love the "Kylie Minougue" album from 1994 and the "Impossible Princess" album from 1997. I think that these albums are her best work to date for me. These albums are the ones that I come back and listen to, when I need to hear some Kylie Minogue music. I don´t know why these albums are so underrated by the public. :)
Because her core fanbase (of which I'm one) tends to be very conservative, plus the general public too, didn't want her to evolve or were willing to accept a different style of music from her.
Because there was so much other good Brit pop at the time so it seemed like bandwagon jumping. Only because we didn't have time to appreciate artists journies so much then because there were so many great new upbeat artists every week. Mid 90s Britpop was largely London , Manchester , Liverpool, Sheffield , Oxford , Wales. Australian Brits didn't get too much of a look in.
The long hot summer of 1997 - this has long been one of my most nostalgic Kylie singles. Not only did I find it brilliantly unlike her previous stuff but I bought it on the night Princess Diana tragically died 😭😭😭
@@richie2072 Maybe so, but they are pretty much one and the same thing. That late-Nineties MSP sound is all over this record. And that's not a bad thing at all.
I'm not even a Kylie Minogue fan, but this is my favorite song of her. Too bad that this song is so underrated amongst all her other songs, I really like this pop/rock style that she took for it.
@@glampingo you write this on EVERY comment here. Don't be a snowflake; we know Kylie sang and Co wrote it. People are saying it's James from the Manics because a lot of people probably don't know that. Grow up!
The difference is conventional instruments for pop rock. I think a lot who rate this as one of her best, aren't conscious of the distorted guitars and a conventional drum kit. Musicians identify it, and that's not being smug.
I admit I came here for Kylie, stayed for Dexter Fletcher. He reminds me of the kind of guys that Kylie liked to date when she was younger - wild looking, dark hair, not tall... yummy.
impossible princess was such an underappreciated record. regardless of the controversies surrounding kylie in 98, the record is timeless and kylie is legendary!!
@@amelianolde6743 1.The title of Impossible Princess was removed in certain European territories out of respect for the tragic passing of Diana, princess of Wales. Renamed Kylie Minogue until 2003 when the original title was reinstated for the re-release. 2. The album was delayed many times & the lead single, Some Kind of Bliss was not received well by the general public. According to Kylie, she considered "Limbo" to be the first single, but executives at Deconstruction records denied her request. 3. Lastly, music media at the time criticized album's production and labeled Kylie's faux Rock phase as a fraud. Thus, both poor public reception & low record sales lead to Kylie being dropped from Deconstruction in November of 1998.
This album was totally written off by the critics however, I reckon its her finest work! first break away from the down right shite of, Stock, Aitken, Waterman..... and co-written with the Manic Street Preachers (the quality shows). the tracks where the first of an independent and grown up Kylie.
I just love the sounds of 1997. It never became a huge hit but I just love seeing Kylie release a song and it was a departure from her SAW days. Her sound became more edgier, but retaining the sexiness that she always infuse in her videos.
this is where i think kylie became the artist that would make a difference and it showed that there was some substance in her yet she never took herself seriously like some do.
Amazing Song and video as well as The whole "Impossible Princess" record and era. Despite not selling as much as previous albums and singles It was an incredible turning point in Kylie's career. Also It wasn' t an absolute commercial flop as It sold well in several territories across The globe and its singles were strong Hits especially in several european countries such as Italy, Greece, Spain, Russia and generally Eastern Europe. Anyway, an incredible Kylie Re-Invention. Long Live Aussie Pop Queen!!!!!!! ✌✌✌❤❤
I remember reading a review of this song in a music magazine, I can't remember which, but they called Kylie a "total fraud" for putting this music out which I think was really harsh and unfair. It was like Kylie wasn't allowed to grow and experiment. Having said that, as much as I like this song, it probably wasn't the best choice as a lead single, it doesn't represent Impossible Princess that well. I think Breathe would have been a better lead single.
Kylie is far edgier in real life than her pop princess persona would lead you to believe. This foray in to indie music territory was closer to her heart than the money maker pop she makes. That ain't her fault we all need money and this wasn't a commercial success.
