    The CIS starfighter corps was truly brilliant. Large numbers meant they could use swarm tactics versus the GAR having to use over-engineered and expensive ships like the ARC 170. Also being droids meant they could coordinate their attacks far better than organic pilots could. Furthermore with no living pilots their starfighters were smaller and more maneuverable, thus harder to hit.

      @enoughothis 5 лет назад +39

      @Gaius Wyrden , correct but Jedi were far too valuable and rare to be wasted flying combat sorties all of the time. The numbers advantage is also a factor, throw 100 tri-fighters at a Jedi in a starfighter and they will probably get him.

    The CIS Navy is my favorite by far. They had a ton of advantages, including a few that I think are left unsaid.
    - Numbers. In most typical combat situations, the CIS Navy had the Republic outnumbered two to one, if not more so, and their reserves were massive. This numerically superior approach was perfect for a long term war, and it was a solid decision to rely on mass production of such vital starships.
    - Logistics. The Confederacy's decision to rely on droids was nothing short of brilliant in this case. Droids don't need food, water, sleep or medical care of any kind. They just need power, repairs and ammunition, and droid engineers and mechanics were effectively medics by extension, making droid medical ships unnecessary. It also made resupplying fleets easy, while the Republic logistics network was basically wheezing trying to catch up.
    - Coordination. If there is one thing the Seperatists nailed during the Clone Wars, it was combining the firepower and momentum of the droid Navy (and army) without flaw. In fact, CIS coordination was so good that some of the Empire's best fleets simply paled in comparison.
    - Firepower. The droid Navy was one of the strongest in the galaxy, and could actually compete with the Republic Navy with hardly anyone not taking it seriously. I bet the Confederate Navy would have mopped the floor with the Imperial Navy.
    - Cost effectiveness. The CIS Navy was very cost effective and didn't take much money to expand, since many of its ships were designed for mass production, which saved the Seperatists quite a lot of money, while the Republic by comparison was almost bankrupt by war's end.
    - Versatility. The Confederacy's Navy had countless specialized ships for completely different combat roles. The Munificent cruiser formed the sturdy bulk of their fleets, the Recuscant was an excellent, well armed flanker, the Providence was versatile, tough and more than a match for a Venator, and the Lucrehulk was pretty much the ultimate command ship.
    Not to mention I love how they look. I always preferred the more "mechanical" appearance of the Confederacy.

      @Adam and Eve clones may be more effective, but they take massive amounts of time and resources to raise compared to a battle droid. You have to raise them for 10 years, feed them, medically threat them and once their service is over you will have a shit ton of soldiers you need to give retirement to. Droids on the other hand are quick the manufacture where you can make one in minutes and only require basic maintenance and power charging and when you are done with them, simply deactivate them. They are also 100 loyal. If the war kept going, I'm pretty sure that the clone troopers will realize they're slaves. A single clone trooper would need to kill 100 droids or maybe more just to make up for their cost. Also, clone troopers are literally slaves forced to fight wars of a corrupt bureaucratic government with no will of their own. Really unethical to exploit them than compared to mindless machines.

    • @hazardous8301
      @hazardous8301 5 лет назад +11

      Adam and Eve ok you sound like a child but I’m going to step into the argument and both help you argument while also refute it. Clones didn’t have the skill of Mandalorians. That being said clones were far better warriors then any droid models except for the Magna droids and they were few in number as they were expensive and most magna droids were under the command of and personally trained by general grievous. Besides them the only droids that came close were commando droids and I’d say they were on par if not better then your average clone but were inferior by a pretty large margin to that of more skilled clone troopers. Over all the clones in terms of sheer power and skill were likely the greatest ground forces in Star Wars as though they didn’t have the skill of the mandalorians they had a pretty large numbers advantage with better tech. That being said they would still lose to the CIS because they have a massive and I do mean MASSIVE numbers advantage. Were sidious to not interfere beyond starting the clone wars the CIS would have won the war without question.

  • @UncleMikeDrop

    The warship reconfiguration of their fleets was also an easy task for them considering the highly modular configuration of their ships. The CIS constituent Fleets skirted Ruusan reformation limits by having the modular sockets that would house their heavier weapons serve as housing for other equipment. When war was declared, it was a simple matter of swapping out components. With all this in mind, It's important to note that they were still operating way below their potential. Had they not been manipulated by Plaegus and Sidious from the start, they could have easily crushed the Republic's forces. They could've swiftly taken and easily held resource rich systems within Republic space thus thoroughly hampering their already relatively limited capacity to wage war.

It’s fighters were some of the worse ever made the star destroyers had a lot of fire power and strong armor and shielding but had virtually no point defense systems and overly exposed shield generators which made them highly susceptible to surgical strike and bombing runs. The rebels didn’t win because of plot armor they won because the empire was trying to fight a war that was fought mostly with fighters with warship with no point defenses and a high vulnerability to surgical strike and shitty fighters of there own. The navy of the empire is IMO the worst in Star Wars. It had very little diversity and what it did have was strong in theory but not in execution. In terms of sheer fire power the imperials should have the strongest but when u consider other factors there navy was actually pretty shitty.

    I would captain a Lucrehulk battleship. It would serve as a perfect mobile command for a PMC/Bounty Hunter/Mercenary group that would be functional for space and planet side warfronts. The large hangars would allow for a variety of vehicles of various types for both battlefronts, large scale troop deployment, cargo transport, and have room to spare.
    The CIS has cool designs that are lethally effective. That has always been there appeal to me from the very start. In the original Battlefront games, I likes playing on the CIS side or stealing their ships because of how much I like the designs. Especially the Tri fighter.
    My introduction to Star Wars was the Phantom Menace as a kid then the original trilogy and then the last 2 prequels was my original viewing order. When the opening script finished rolling, reading every word I felt drawn in to the setting, then we see a plain starship but then pans over to this imposing, massive station, which turns out to be a battle ship, and I felt awed by its scale and the implied might it could bear down upon enemies, quickly conveying just how dangerous it is.
    I am pretty neutral towards the War but if the sith and jedi were removed from the equation, then I would side with the CIS. The Clones got the short end of the stick and forced to do the dirty work. I pity them, poor souls.

I also got a nasty hit and was out for that fight halfway through, but hey, I got a commendation for it.”

    Highly-automated vessels, replacable and very efficient crew, diverse ship types specialized for specific tactical roles, more-realistic designs, all of these really put the CIS ahead of the Republic,and I think they were better-designed on purpose because of a general lack of continuity constraints (venators and acclamators needing to look similar enough to star destroyers and to differentiate the factions) and maybe, also to give the main heroes more recognition for winning battles with clearly-inferior ships.
    I think the greatest advantage of the CIS navy was not only the extremely-convenient pre-set-up base and multiple sources that just happened to fit together perfectly, but competant-enough commanders to use these advantages in combined-arms tactics to their fullest.

    I love the separatists. I love everything in their army. The droids, the tanks, especially the navy, because it has the best designed ships of the entire star wars franchise and the commanders. General Grievous, who in my opinion was ruined in the clone wars, because there he was only a coward and always ran away. He only killed one jedi in six seasons. And he won only one battle (I think). Admiral Trench is very interesting and I like him, but they just say a lot of stuff about him, that would make him great and don‘t show it. And then he gets his ass kicked and apparently gets killed and then shows up four seasons later and he still doesn‘t do much on screen.

You basically drop that mother ******** into orbit around a planet and you're good to go. Immense firepower, nearly impenetrable shields and armor, and enough starfighters, droids/landing craft, and supplies to single-handedly occupy a planet? What more could you want? My favorite ship in the CIS, and maybe all of Star Wars cannon, is the Lucrehulk. I imagine myself in the post-Empire time. If I had a Lucrehulk, I’d use it for its original purpose, as a heavily armed and maximally-shielded and heavily-armored freighter, no pirate gang would dare step up to that! I would also do mercenary planetary defense on the side. I would use the massive amounts of profits to buy dozens of Correllian light freighters, it would be easiest for fleet maintenance to get all the same light freighters, like YT-2400s since they have good internal carrying capacity and can haul cargo boxes on the bottom, and are very nimble and have powerful shields and huge reactors. I would heavily modify their freighters to run anti-starfighter screening for mercenary purposes and run unescorted on smuggling and smaller legitimate freight delivery runs.
    For the Lucrehulk and the freighters I’d upgrade the hyperdrives to be as fast as possible for delivery and super-fast defensive response to the planets which hired me out as a mercenary. I’d probably buy a few dozen starfighter interceptors or superiority fighters, like really common ones like maybe the Z-95, but with upgrades to modernize it. For purposes of mercenary work and defense I would utilize only Ion cannons, ion torpedos, and ion bombs, so I could claim the dead ships as salvage and either add them to my fleet or sell them off, which ever suited my fancy. Like any good swashbuckler, I’d divide all of my profits and spoils evenly and equitably among my crew and the captains of my various light freighters.

    The ship the CIS needed was a dedicated carrier. I can imagine a ship that is just a long skinny cylinder containing a drive and shields that had thousands of skinny arm/racks of Tri-fighters or Vulture and Hyena droid starfighters. Those fighters were half the cost of their manned counterparts and were unmanned so less expensive to operate.
    The rack carrier ships could just pop in quickly unload or drop off their racks and exit the theater of battle into hyperspace.

    If the Sith never pulled the strings of the Confederacy, and the Jedi never went into politics, they would wipe out the Republics Grand Army instantly, and the Battle for Coruscant would have been a lot sooner. Plus the Republic would have had Acclamatiors and some early Venators, against Lukerhulk, Providence, Recusant, and Munificent class star destroyers. I have to say, the fact that the ships didn't need major life support systems, and bunks/cafeterias, etc. provided their ships with almost like spaced armor, except that hollow space was filled with cargo, or Drone-Star-fighters, along with massive Shield Generators, made their ships a really hard target to kill.

  • @jeffreycarman2185
    @jeffreycarman2185 8 месяцев назад

    3:45 The skeletal nature of the Munificent would have made it perfect for ferrying Vulture and Hyena droid starfighters on the exterior, many of these starfighters could probably still have been under the cover of the armor plating. These starfighters wouldn’t have been able to get refueled or have maintenance done on them, but I suspect the CIS respected their droid starfighters about as much as they respected their B-1s anyway (which was not at all) and probably assumed these starfighters were disposable anyway. So not having the ability to refuel or maintain the fighters is a feature, not a bug.

    This is why the Venators had to adt as Carriers with hundreds of fightersz bombersz and interdeptors. What te GAR lacked in ship numbers they made up for in snub fighters. Imagine 3 fully loaded Venators showing up to invade a planet controlled by the CIS They could theoretically bring 1260 various fighter craft to the battle. Weve all seen how effective fighters are against large capital ships in Star Wars and fighters are still cheaper than capitol ships. The Venators were no slouches either as their few guns were extremely powerful and could attack from long range.
    Still the CIS still had a numbers advantage in capital ships and personnel that in reality wouldve been virtually impossible to beat.
