NOBODY refers to the local airport as Baltimore Airport. It's BWI.
Thank you
Actually THE REAL NAME WAS FRIENDSHIP AIRPORT
@@flight6662 Yes, long ago. But it's rarely referred to as anything but BWI by locals.
Yes it is
Friendship, BWI and Thurgood Marshall.
The Browns were NOT stolen from Cleveland. Unlike the Colts that were stolen (in the middle of the night during a snowstorm) from Baltimore. Art Modell made the conscience decision to move from Cleveland to Baltimore after being past over by Cleveland, several times to build a new stadium. Oh and it's JOHNS Hopkins NOT John
Tell them Kevin
Do you remember how mad everybody wants it mayflower movers? People wouldn’t use them for ages.
@@swcomment5542 lmao i was too young to understand what it all really meant lol but I member seeing that infamous clip of the green mayflower trucks pulling out during a snow shower in the middle of the nite. Our ole' timers STILL get 'turnt up' about that situation if u give em enough room to truly express themselves smh lol that was absolutely taken as a smack across the face in the eye of the Baltimoreans from that era.
IKR. LIKE WTF? WE DIDNT STEAL THEIR SORRY ASSES THEY CAME TO US CAUSE NO ONE WANTED THEM!!!!
He's just a but hurt Browns fan.
You forgot that ouija board was invented in Baltimore and has a small museum here. A little fun fact Walt Disney bought all gas lamps for the Magic Kingdom you see them in Main Street and others areas
Literally came in to say this. The spot where it was invented at is now a 7-11 on Charles & Centre St.
you mean he stole the gas lights - purchased for $.03 a pound from the city of Baltimore, Maryland sounds like 1 hell of a steal /deal
This is one reason why the people in this city is so wicked
That alone explains everything that happens in Baltimore. Especially Druid Hill park.

Interesting fact ... Baltimore is the only American franchise to win a Canadian Football League championship ...
Ron Oakes
I miss the CFL Stallions .
Great Games at Old Memorial Stadium.
Baltimore also won the USFL Championship.
The Baltimore Colts and Orioles and the Baltimore Bullets and the Clippers all won championships in 1971 .
What about the Baltimore Blitz ? ...
in ' 70 , they beat The Reds , due to Brooks Robinson's defensive brilliance ...
Soooo True, and they were called
"The Baltimore Stallions" as a matter of fact they went to the championship game twice, but unfortunately only won one😊

Baltimore born and raised. We've had the rats for as long as I can remember lol. Why are they getting press now ?
J B we had a high rate of ships for the entire existence of our city rats traveled on ships them rats been there long before & will be there long after us lol
Phil Ward you're right about that.
😂😂🤣😅
Where you find people you will find rats.
I think trump was talking about the people in politics not actual rats. Cause he’s from New York and they got hella rats
I feel like only images of the inner harbor were used. That area is not a very good representation of what the rest of the city looks like at all.
Baltimore harbor is bad hardly any stores every week a dead body is found in the water you're at risk of being attacked..😂
Wrong the harbor is a dangerous place once the sun goes down. All you people that says it’s safe then go down there at night by yourself. I GUARANTEE you change your mindset about it not being bad....
Ricky Tomko you're joking right? Harbor is safe at night and so are many other places in Baltimore, I stumble through there drunk as shit on my way home from fells nightly.
Also nobody dumps bodies at the inner harbor, the bodies they pull up are dummies who fell in and drown.
Stop spreading bullshit

Another fact: Baltimore's baseball team, the Baltimore Orioles, is named after Maryland's state bird. Many people forget that the Baltimore Orioles used to be the St. Louis Browns. Another sports team called the Browns that moved to Baltimore.
There's a joke in there about Baltimore 'taking all the browns' but don't tell the president he will think he's funny.
The original Orioles team was moved to new York and renamed the Yankees This is the reason for the Yankee hate him Baltimore and most people don't know the reason for the hate now.
WHAT!!!! It is not "John Hopkins" it is JohnS Hopkins. Johns. I think that was his mother's family name.
It was his great grandmother's family name. He was named after his grandfather.
Yes, "Johns Hopkins" medical school, university is highly rated BUT it's extremely dangerous. Like so bad, people avoid jobs or avoid going near the metro area... 🚔📰⚖🗑... Homicide(NBC) & The Wire(HBO) Oz(HBO) did not help Baltimore or MD. 😬
I was there (the U) in fall of '69 and after volunteering to tutor the kids around the medical school was chased by black gangs through the city streets. (One time, and after several tutorial visits.. long story, can't provide a lot of details other than the initial assault on 2 of us and the foot-race, and the mob around the bus. That stuff I remember very well.) Anyway, like a lot of cities, stay away from certain parts and you will be OK. I remember being in New Orleans on business in the early 90s with colleges and strolling around with cups of inexpensive beer ($1 - now why can I remember that but not my new zip code?). Some local rushed up to us where a street turned dark and assured us, urgently, that we didn't want to continue that way. Well, I've never had an opportunity to deploy the question "Have you ever been chase through city streets by a racial mob?" and that is probably a good thing. TRANQUILITY NOW! heh
ALSO... dummy me, since we had this #1 medical school here, I assumed our local doctors (suburban) were also very good. Well, maybe they were, but I finally came to realize they were mostly trained in the Caribbean. I'm now living on the cool sun coast of Florida, full of rich retirees with health problems, and what do you know.... many of those fancy doctors come here instead of Baltimore, Smugglers Notch or Callicoon Ny.
He does that on purpose. He mispronounces words to get the locals to react. He said in a video a couple years back he said he uses it to see who is really a local and not.
I'm from Detroit, but when I visited Baltimore for a few months, i starting calling people "woe" and saying shit like "already, my guy" lmaoo they different...
Wht about dummy 😆 410allday
Whole time for real for real
Tavon Fenwick right? Maybe some white frat dudes? I think some people think when they in county that there in the city and it’s deff not the same
Lol rite the saying dummy dudes say that all day
Damn Detroit idiot...were you high the whole time you visited? I have never heard that stupid ...What ever you wrote.
If you're going to talk about the Ravens as being stolen from Cleveland. You also have to talk about Robert Irsay, in negotiations for a new stadium in Baltimore, while Mayflower Van Lines was moving the Baltimore Colts facility to Indapolis.
People tend to forget that. I remember that like it was yesterday. Right down to seeing the snow hitting the camera as the bus drove by.
I have friends from Baltimore who are still bitter about that.
Took 3 separate routes out town with the Mayflower vans in the middle of the night
Word!!!
Briggs, it is Johns Hopkins not JOHN. I will now stop typing.
Exactly! My Dad went there so I have known this forever!
I had a baby there on June 12th. I live in rural southern Maryland but had to go to Hopkins because I was high risk and our hospital wasn't equipped to handle an extreme medical emergency should one happen.
Also, it is Sparrows Point.
He does that on purpose. He mispronounces words to get the locals to react. He said in a video a couple years back he said he uses it to see who is really a local and not.
JohnS Hopkins
Not The Charm City

Black lives matter 💯💯
Baltimore actually has a much lower gun violence rate AND violence rate in general than many other major cities.
So IDK WTF youre talking about. But you sound like some kinda outsider. And if you dont actually live here Please dont make comments about our city being so horribly violent when its not.
Our city runs heavily on medical research, tourism, artistic entertainment, and factory/warehouse/retail industry money. Those are all our cities lifes blood. So all your comment is gonna do is make us all out to be gun slinging maniacs. And scare people away who could bring in potential revenue that could help fix up schools in the poorer areas of our city.
So would you kindly not portray our city in such a violent and negative light that it makes us seem like Low IQ Animals who only have a nice hospital and shock trauma unit cause were busy shooting each other up and need it for that purpose. We in fact have one of the worlds best Cancer research facilities here. We have state of the art Gene therapy treatment here. And we have many other highly innovative medical procedures here. And NOT for the sake of Gun Violence.
People come from all over the world come here for Educational Purposes. And Many others come for treatment because of the equipment and skilled doctors we have all over this city. We have also got leading colleges in Trade and a Military school and training facility to get soldiers prepared to defend their Homeland.
Theres shootings in every state in America with Many places considerably more dangerous than here. So maybe point out that we have very good medical facilities and colleges because we have highly intelligent Youth here in our city, who when they are given the opportunities to excel go above and beyond; rather than making us sound like we only have a good hospital cause of all these shootings.
Shootings that in reality land dont happen all that often.
Thanks, Hon
Fushicho Kurayami I just want to be sure who you are talking to before I blast your ass! I was born and raised in Baltimore west Baltimore! I was being sarcastic in that comment! Now you can have a seat outside my comment as well or we can meet up because I don’t have gangsta thumbs!
I'm from B-more and yes we do have our challenges but it is a great city with great, talented, and brave people.
Nice vid. A couple of other things I'd like to add, as a Baltimorean born-and-raised:
--The Baltimore art culture is MUCH larger than people realize. Station North is up-and-coming (which is code for "gentrified" but whatever) and we have one of the largest arts festivals in the country every July.
--We also have lots of stage theaters, indie movie theaters, indie bookstores, and multiple opera houses within the city limits.
--Baltimore Pride is one of the oldest LGBTQ pride festivals in the country. I think I read somewhere that it's the second-oldest, after NYC Pride. Not sure if that's true tho.
--The Star-Spangled Banner was written about the Battle of Baltimore, which happened at Fort McHenry during the War of 1812. (This made 2012 Baltimore RIDICULOUSLY patriotic. They established a new bus route to Fort McHenry and everything.)
--We have a Ripley's Odditorium and the National Aquarium.
--The pop-punk band All Time Low is from Baltimore. Their song "Six Feet Under the Stars" references actual streets around the Harbor.
--House of Cards frequently filmed episodes in Baltimore, particularly the Hampden neighborhood...
--...which is the same neighborhood where the musical Hairspray is set. The writer of the original Hairspray movie, John Waters, still lives in Hampden and people see him out & about pretty often.
--Old Bay was invented here and we put Old Bay on EVERYTHING. Seriously. I season my ramen with Old Bay.
--Baltimore Polytechnic Institute & Baltimore City College have one of the oldest high school football rivalries in the US. The Poly-City homecoming game is a huge deal to this day.
--Also, Baltimore Poly was desegregated two years before the Brown v. Board of Education case happened
EDIT: I added spaces in between each bullet point
john waters does not live in baltimore, but he sure filmed there.
I Just love all of your contributions!! I love the way you think. 🎉🏆

I understand your disappointment in losing the Browns to Baltimore, but you forgot to mention how Indianapolis stoles the Colts from Baltimore!!! And another interesting fact about Baltimore, the Baltimore Orioles were originally the St. Louis Browns!!! Yes both of our teams were once “Browns”!!!
That explains why it's so $#!++?
I grew up near Indy and always felt bad for Baltimore here.
@@timmmahhhh As a Baltimoron the Browns being swept away from Cleveland to become the Ravens has never set right with me.
@@MarylandWearAndCarry at least there it was done right, that Cleveland got to keep the identity for a future team. Ravens is a very cool name especially considering the history of where it came from. How about LA who went from two to zero and is now back to two? Poor St Louis sucks to be them.
david chilton And if you are Baltimorean(not Baltimoron) we are not morons, you would remember how the NFL refused to allow a new franchise to come to Baltimore, saying since we are a “Monumental” City, we should just build another monument and be happy!!! No, I didn’t like that the Browns had to leave Cleveland in order for us to have a NFL team, but the NFL was very receptive to Cleveland and gave them a new franchise within three seasons!!! As opposed to over a decade before Baltimore had a new team, thanks to Art Modell. Also Cleveland was allowed to keep their team name!!! Indianapolis not only took the Colts, they also took their name!!! And when the Canadian Football League brought a team to Baltimore, Indianapolis protested & won against Baltimore using the name Colts. Thus we became the Baltimore Stallions!!!(better than a colt any day). I must admit, I do like the name Ravens better. I’m just saying!!! Love you 😘

Hello mate. I’ve been watching your videos for quite a while now from over here in little old Englandland. You continue to be informative and funny. The complete opposite of most politicians. Keep up the good work buddy. 💪
Great video thanks I love Baltimore
Baltimore is beautiful in some places but if you go about 10 blocks away from the Harbor, Ghetto. You run into desolation.
There is only one 'bad direction' out of the Harbor. You make it sound like the Harbor is completely surrounded when the opposite is true. Also, this 10 block range is not nearly the worst part. That's more like 25+ blocks out.
TheStevo427563 it’s 2 blocks away
Biomirth there isn’t a good part in Baltimore there all bad but some are better then others even in the county
Baltimore native here. Like ALL cities, Baltimore has it's safe neighborhoods and its sketchy ones. Safer neighborhoods include Northwood, Roland Park, Ten Hills, Hamilton.. etc. Also, It's JOHNS Hopkins, not John Hopkins.

Thanks for shedding positive light on my city.
I visited Balitmore (years ago now, so, maybe it's changed a lot) but I had an awesome time. I stayed at The Admiral Fell Inn and they treated me like a queen, I had crab cakes and found people to be amazingly friendly. It was a beautiful city, I loved the harbor. No one gave me a hard time and I'm a tiny redhead wandering around without a clue. After staying in the ritzy area I stayed in the bad area of town to explore it a bit and; um, well, there were some bugs there. Like, literally ones that came out of the bed. But the people there, while a bit rowdy at night, were nice. Really nice. They didn't give me a hard time, rob me, or anything else, they gave me directions when I got lost and called me, 'blue eyes'. I also received several marriage proposals lol. Everyone there had a smile for me and I felt welcomed there and safe.
Anyway, there were a lot green spaces and it was just super cool. I loved all the history, loved the people and found it really was 'Charm City'. Did I mention the food was delicious? Because omg soooooo good.
Thanks for the cool facts. The Admiral Fell was a real guy btw, maybe something you could add in another video XD I kept stationary from there from ages because of the super cute name. They also left my dog a little bone wrapped in a red ribbon and the hotel room was gorgeous, old four poster bed, fireplace... I mean, it was a romantic escape and it didn't let me down. We also toured Johns Hopkins and it was a beautiful campus. They do a lot of good work and research that helps people all over the planet. I have no clue why someone bothers dissing Balitmore so much, maybe I see the world through rose tinted glasses; but it was such an awesome trip!
It's "Johns Hopkins." And our airport is colloquially known as "BWI." But thanks for the information about gaslights! I live here, and never knew that. Baltimore is best described as "a small town inside a big city." It is really a collection of neighborhoods.

I’m from Baltimore and I love it here!!!
Great video. Good cool little facts about bmore.
I was born and grew up in North Baltimore City and Baltimore County which was mostly segregated at that time. I haven’t lived there since 1975. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University. In order to never forget the “S” on Johns, here’s a true story: The President of Johns Hopkins University was invited to give a speech in Pittsburg, PA. He was introduced as the President of a John (without the s) Hopkins. He began his speech by saying, “Thank you for inviting me to Pittburg” (without the s).Anyway thank you for defending Baltimore a bit. Also, please do not forget that before the Browns and the Ravens, Indianapolis stole the famous Baltimore Colts from Baltimore. I would also like to mention that both the Babe Ruth House and the Edgar Allan Poe (author of “The Raven”) House are great places to visit in Baltimore - and Fort McHenry (where our National Anthem was written) is not too far away from those houses.
I had to laugh about the Pittburg thing :) Cool story!
James J De Carlo - great analogy. I’m going to use that one!
You forgot to mention how Baltimore's original NFL team, the Colts, were also stolen from them. The mayor tried to halt the move, so the owner literally placed the team on buses and their equipment in Mayflower moving trucks and moved out to Indianapolis in the dead of night. To this day Mayflower has trouble doing business in Maryland. And you'd think Art Modell would've thought about that before pulling out of Cleveland just like that.
Great video from South America but I lived in Baltimore all my life IM GLAD U MADE THE VIDEO ❤️
Love this video! An I’m from B-more
You make a lot of great points Briggs. Born & raised in Balt City now residing in Baltimore County. Baltimore City definitely has its challenges but I'm sure it's better than they're making it out to be lately. I could show you parts that are excellent then drive just a few miles & its run down & dilapidated all inside the city lines. Hopefully some of this negative attention "sad to say long overdue" wiil shine some light on the parts that need fixing.

The positive part is everywhere except Baltimore and parts PG County by the DC/Maryland line. 🤣

Now you see how we feel about loosing the Baltimore Colts Mr Briggs . You can blame the NFL for not Giving Baltimore a expansion team back in 1993 . Cleveland was guaranteed a expansion team and you got to keep the Browns name . What did Baltimore get ? So much history here with the Baltimore Colts .
So blame Paul Tagliabue the former NFL commissioner for the loss of your beloved browns for a few years. We went 13 years with out a NFL Team . I still hate the Irsay
Family for moving our team in the middle of the night .
Yeah! And much more an injustice of Indianapolis stealing the original Colts! (Tho I blame much of that on the stupidity of Balto's govt)
As you can see, we're not letting go of this. Ever. Ever.
Anne Kirby
I still hate the Irsey Family.
We should have gotten the Colts Name Back .
Sneaking out under the cover of darkness is STEALING. Took the team, the name, history, everything! Why don’t Browns fans ever remember that??!! Art Modell simply MOVED the team. Happens all the time. Ask the Rams.

I was born in the city. And I live right next to it, I'll have to say that its actually worse in some places than even the news makes it out to be. I love Baltimore with my heart, but I'd say if something isn't done soon, the city will start to decay, slowly.
Just go look at N Munroe street. A very extreme example I know but that's what i mean.
I believe there's still hope of course cause it could be somehow much worse still.
Hey Briggs, at 7:50 you show the shuttle area of BWI. This March my family and I were flying out of there. We struck up a conversation with a young black woman who was working as an airport shuttle attendant. She told us, with no prompting, the she couldn't wait to move out of Baltimore because of the violence and crime. We wished her luck and headed back to Chicago.
The violence in Baltimore was so bad I had to move to Los Angeles 😁

Maryland is a great state but Baltimore kinda ruins our state for people outside of the DMV thinking everyone is from Baltimore,NOT EVERYONE IS FROM BALTIMORE.
morgan grempler true but Baltimore in of itself is great
@@nathanielthrush5581 you must think Detroit and San Francisco are great cities too
Ryan Tracy 😂 you got him good
I agree bro i live in MD
us in jersey consider the DMV dc and baltimore lolol
Being born and raised right outside of Baltimore it's nice to have a good video on Baltimore. It's a bad city but we have our good sides. We've got things to offer.
Being from Baltimore it was nice seeing a video that didn't completely slander my city
It's always the Ravens were stolen from Cleveland, but no one screams at Indy for the colts and stealing them
Even though Baltimore’s Inner Harbor area is gentrified the crime level is palpable.
Step outside the Inner Harbor neighborhoods and the crime level spikes.
Of course just like most other cities deemed to be highly dangerous the surrounding cities that encompass Baltimore proper are safe and thriving for the most part.
The farther out you go of course the safer it becomes overall.
Trump’s lack of decorum and absence of any sort of filter describing Baltimore is both accurate and at the same time offensive.
With that being said, many times the truth is deemed offensive by those that it effects the most.
Baltimore as a whole is a highly dangerous place.
The majority of the city is blighted and diseased and that acts as an anchor around the neck of the safe parts of Baltimore causing it to sink in its Inner Harbor.
This is what someone who lives in 'the county' would say. The city is largely awesome with some large bad spots too. Being afraid doesn't mean you have reason to call your fears the truth. The truth is most of Baltimore is lovely and neighborly and full of amazing people. Those that run off to the counties because they were unlucky or saw someone do something that they didn't understand or like can't say what Baltimore is like as they no longer live here but just give themselves reasons to avoid experiencing it. Keep telling yourself the farther you go the better because we don't want you!
When firefighters tell outsiders...if you get lost, don't stop at the traffic lights, just go through them until you get someplace you recognize.... its dangerous.
When emt and firefighters will not open their doors for a stabbing victim until police arrive.... its dangerous
Don't think this happens.... ask a professional firefighter in the city where they live.

@@k9fouroneone DAMN!
There are many safe areas.. I live South of the Harbor, and there are many professionals with children who live here. North Baltimore City, Roland Park Guilford etc. are very safe. Most of the crime occurs in certain neighborhoods.85% of the people murdered have criminal backgrounds.
Sorry forgot to say ty Briggs love your videos rarely comment however I’m from this one sooooo lol
I'm from Baltimore and I never heard of these facts before. You learn something new everyday I guess.
