    Great video! I love when people are thorough about demonstrating products.

    Very cool. I wish they made one to accommodate small pens, too. I've got small hands and no interest in giant pens like the ASCs, but I *adore* old small pens like the Esterbrook SJ and the Eversharp Bantam.

    Thank you! I have a Pilot 823 and have been thinking about how to fill it as the bottle gradually went down - this will do it nicely, but nobody else I'd watched actually understood the device this well. I think this is a purchase because of you, thanks.

      Thanks Jim for the positive comments on the video, I do find them extremely useful for filling most of my pens, even vac and piston filling pens. I hope you find it as useful if you do buy one!

    Thanks for the review Dave. Another thing to mention is that the box the Pen Filler comes in has two holes to determine whether your pen will fit; they should go through the large hole but not the small hole. That's just a beginning reference, and I'm still testing them with plain water before using ink. I need to test my TWSBI Vac 700 to see how well it really fills on a vacuum filler. So far it's worked well on cartridge and piston fillers I've tried.

      You are right about the holes int he box Chris although I've found them to not be that accurate. For instance my Homo Sapiens will fit in the larger hole quite nicely but it won't fit properly in the Pen Filler, so I think it's really only a rough guide. Also another thing to mention the first batch didn't come with any pipettes but the second and third batch Dante did include the flimsy pipette. It think an ink syringe personally would have been much better and would have filled the capacity quicker than a pipette and I'm hoping that may change in future, although most syringes are branded and might bump the price of by €0.20 maybe, not a lot but it would eat into profits I guess.

      I didn't get the pipette, but I don't care since I just use the ink syringes from Goulet which are two for $5, and can be used for filling or flushing with precision. I even use them for filling my Opus 88 pens instead of the included eye droppers. I wonder if the Ink Filler was intentionally designed to NOT accept the Visconti Hook Safe Lock system?

    Thank you for the warning about crossthreading. I was ready to send mine back!

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  Год назад +1

      Still gets me every time, I went to ink up another Pineider Pen Filler and started to fight with the threading. I do wish the threading could be made so it doesn't cross thread so easily.

    Thanks for the demo. I have one but hadn’t tried it yet. (At home I tend to use a syringe to fill most pens.) I can see where this would be really handy away from home though.

    Thanks for this video, Dave. I bought one but have yet to try it. I do have tons of ink samples, so might give those a go first.

    Your comments about the threads on the blue part made me wonder if just a touch of silicone grease on the outside might help with the problem you decsribe. Just wondering. :)

    Great video! Super thorough.
    Wouldn't depressing your vac filler pen all the way refill it with equalized pressure that is going to be pressed into the bottle when you depress it again to fill? I haven't had a chance to test my 823 with mine yet, but it seems like a questionable idea to use one of these with a vac filler unless it is extremely secure. The TWSBI bottles for their vac fillers are threaded. If you get a chance to try a vac filler with your Pineider Pen Filler, I'd be interested to hear about your experience.

    Excellent video, Dave. Thanks very much. It’s an excellent idea not to fill your pens directly from an ink bottles! You’re doing an excellent thing.

    Just chiming in to say that from my experience, the Pen Filler might not grip onto the Homo Sapiens quite as strongly as most other pens, but it still works with it without any problems so long as you hold them together.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  5 лет назад +1

      I agree, so far I haven't had any leakages (yet) but you do need to grip onto both just to make sure. So far I've done a lot less inkings with a power vac than with my Visconti Travelling Inkwells but I have had more leakages with the Visconti Travelling Inkwells. Most of the time though leaks are because I forgot to expel air first before pushing the pen into the Travelling Inkwell causing another 1.5-2ml of air to be pushed into the inkwell causing it to try to lose it's grip.

    Purchased the Pineider Pen Filler and Snorkel from Cult Pens, got 10% off, if you ask for it. I would not know how to operate either without your video. I think they need a hardcase. Thank you 😀

    Really well done and thoughtful video, my finance dictates I just stick with my sample vials for now.
    For now at least so far so good 😁. Thank you.

      Update: I'm revisiting this, because I got a pineider Arco Fountain pen coming and one is included in the packaging.
      I'm really looking forward to it.
      Penchalet.com is a great retailer, thier customer service has really shined in getting me the answers on all the many questions I've had and they are really the best prices by far.
      Thanks again Dave!

    Hi Dave excellent video, how do I join your pen club for these group buys?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  5 лет назад +2

      Hi, I usually announce the group buys at the UK South Fountain Pen Club in our Fleet meet ups and also at our London UK Fountain Pen Club meet ups, so if you can get yourself off to one of those, that's also where I will usually deliver them too. I could mail them out in the post but there's then additional postage costs for each package, but if someone can't make it for a few months I can do that at an additional fee for postage/shipping.

    The box has a sizing hole cut into it, lets you see from start if your pen fits..

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  2 года назад +1

      Yes but unfortunately the hole isn't accuratley sized, at least not for me as I've tried some pens and it says it will fit but it doesn't. It depends also how long the section is and whether there's any flare out or metal bands or hook safe lock as although the section will fit into the Pineider Pen Filler for a Visconti Homo Sapiens with a hook safe lock mechanism, the section is too short so you cannot screw the Pen Filler down to make a tight connection against the section due to the hook safe lock mechanism. It's basically used as a guide but not a definitive yes the section will fit.

    I don't suppose anyone has actually tried tried these with a Lamy Zebra to see if they leak?
