Thank you for a great review, which answers my questions about specifics of the Mystery Fillers, specifically the grip, and posting, I bought a Grande Bellezza some time ago, and sold it in its first summer, because my hand does sweat and the pen was slipping in my hand. I now own an Arco Blue Bee, which I treasure. The quill nib is spectacular (I have a fine), and the magnetic posting is ideal for a guy with a large hand who always posts his pens. It looks as if the Black Russian is the right choice for me.

It came in that wonderful box and included the Ink well. Great attention to detail. Those nibs are incomparable.

Oh god, I did a naughty thing… a forged carbon fiber in rose gold is now on the way. I got to visit Atlas last month and experienced a La Grande Belleza just for fun while looking for my first gold nib pen. I went home with a Pilot Falcon, which I love, but I haven’t been able to get the feel of writing with the Pineider out of my mind since, and knew I’d found my dream pen. Then yesterday I stumbled across the forged carbon fiber in rose gold and it literally took my breath away and made my heart go pitter-patter. The stars were aligned because I’ve got a bonus on the way and Atlas had 15% off almost everything yesterday which I couldn’t believe included my holy-grail pen. It was an amazing deal and I just couldn’t pass it up. I am SO excited and every video I watch, with the light playing across the carbon fiber, oh my gosh I can’t wait to get her in my hands 😍
I was just thinking how the Pineider brand seems neglected in the fountain pen industry and then I see your review pop-up.The Mystery Filler looks interesting. Personally, I fell in love with the aesthetics of a much less costly option in the Pineider line-up, the Avatar. Especially the transparent colors with the black trim option. It was difficult to decide which color is the nicest; the amber, the blue or the red. If there are more color choices, it is probably safer I not know. I have a serious love of anything utilizing magnets, so it’s difficult not to love these fountain pens. Oh and I also had to have the Psyco by Pineider. I think it is unique.The design looks like ‘organized chaos’… Lol… I had no idea Pineider was and I assume still is a paper manufacturer. That explains the inserts included with their fountain pens. The black paper has a matte finish and a texture which is hard to describe. Good quality ultra-suede? Maybe it’s silly to love brochure paper, but it is unusual enough to be noticed and kept…
that is exactly why the ownership experience and everything paper made by Pineider is so good quality - because they are first a paper company :D Im so happy to see that i get to put this company into mainstream and to have their creations in our store. Happy new year Victor! This choice strikes close to my heart and i will give you my answer : BOTH and why : - i liked a lot more visconti when Dante was making pens there , now i like Pineider a little more just because i know what Dante does there
I saw something online that mentioned this brand uses Bock #250 nib units; do you know if that's the case for this one? I have a bunch of Bock 250's fitted with unique nibs and would love to grab a mystery filler if they fit it!
It is a bock #250 nib unit, I can very easy swap a Leonardo nib on this Mystery Filler (bock Leonardo from the old batch - now they are using JOWO) - im not sure but I think the nib collar itself is glued in the section making it better to friction fit the nib with the ABS feeder and not to unscrew the whole nib unit from the section.
