  • Arlington Court in Devon is home to a significant collection of photographs taken by its last owner Rosalie Chichester. Find out what made Rosalie a woman ahead of her time, and how the National Trust are using her albums to shape the future of this historic estate.
Rosalie’s photography captured the people and places that mattered to her - just like the photos we take today. She left behind a valuable record of her moment in history.
But how do photographs survive for more than a hundred years? Go behind the scenes with Senior National Trust Conservator Anita Bools and Collections and House Manager Jess McKenzie as they reveal how we're caring for Rosalie’s albums and continuing her legacy.
You can see one of Rosalie's photographs in '100 Photographs from the Collections of the National Trust', sponsored by CEWE, now available from the National Trust shop: shop.nationalt.... The book is also available from all major online and high-street booksellers.
The National Trust is working in partnership with CEWE, Europe's leading photo printing specialist, to share stories from the thousands of photographs in our collections, including those at Arlington Court. You can find out more about how CEWE are supporting our work, and about offers for National Trust supporters, here: www.cewe.co.uk...
