  • I found myself deep into the Midjourney rabbit hole. And my goodness how much I enjoy it :)
There's been a proliferation of creative AI lately. Dall-E, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion and Craiyon are maybe the first iterations of an entire new creative ecosystem. And one that is already producing mindblowing results.
For this video I picked Midjourney because it seemed at first glance a perfect match to my style, but it doesn't mean I think Midjourney is better than the competitors.
By the way, you can follow me here: www.midjourney... (but you can only see what I made public)
And here I showcase what Midjourney can do but also try to recreate one of my recent images (from the Fujifilm 150-600mm video) to see if this Artificial Intelligence can do a better job.
And I also show you some of my other creations, particularly with landscape, portraits and street photography, which is where I think the technology really shines.
But if the results are so good, is this the end of Photography? Hmmm... Not so fast!
Maybe it's because I'm an artist myself, but I see more potential than threat here. More in the video.
For all the images I share I'm also including the prompts that were used, which seems to be very useful to everyone who want to give this a go.
I had great fun experimenting with Midjourney and making this video. Please enjoy!
And I'll see you next time... Cheers.

Excellent video!!!! I am a photographer who loves Fujifilm cameras. I have recently been looking at videos like this on RUclips and can't wait to give it a try. This video in particular has inspired me because I can see the vision you have in your creations as a photographer and not just a digital artist.
Thank you so much for posting. You have a new subscriber 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thank you so much LeVar, your comment and appreciation mean a lot ☺️
I hope I'll be able to live up to the expectations now 😅 And I think a few more videos on this topic will follow soon because I'm experimenting a lot, with interesting results.

As a fan of technology, I love to see this; as a photographer, it’s a bit scary. Though the market for this is basically the market that would buy stock photos, until you’re able to set the parameters to your own reference.
Once they’re able to upload a basic photo of a person/outfit into this AI and simply work with that, it’ll change the game.

As with every new piece of technology, the big difference lies in what you make of it. I too think this will eat a share of the stock photos market but it's not necessary a bad thing if everyone creates their unique image so we won't have to see the same one a million times in a million different placements.
But the photography side of it is kind of niche at the moment. Explore the Art side and you'll see that this could eat a much bigger share of the market when it comes to book illustrations, album covers, etc. It can probably also drive down the earnings of NFTs because there is now an endless stream of artworks available in no time so a lot of it will likely lose value.
I only scratched the surface in this video, there is soooooo much more :)
By the way, you can already have the AI digest a photo of a person to use as reference ;) But not the outfit yet. That will be a massive shift. And I think it will happen eventually.
Thanks for your comment! Happy to discuss further :)

Hi Fabien, I've tried out DALL-E with similar results. Of course this will change the world like every new invention did, more or less. Our world becomes more and more artificial, whatever you look at. Of course this will bite a big part off of professional photographers cake, in an amount we are not able to foresee now, but I'm quite sure what remains will be the urge to still get some "real" photography like now we still want some real hand/homemade pizza or bread or other cibo fatto in casa instead of convenience food. The future remains exciting, also in photography.
An afterthought when I tried out DALL-E: When I entered my keywords into the generator and regarded the results, a question occured to me: who is the creative owner of these? I don't mean the legal owner, I'm sure I've agreed to something when using it. I mean, who created this? Me by entering the keywords? The system analytics and programmers who produced this AI? Or the AI itself, as it is (said to be) learning from prior entries and experiences and thus develops some kind of personality? I personally have no answer to that question.

I'm glad you too see the exciting part of all this. So many have gone the (clickbait?) route of "this is the end of photography/art/design/etc" but it's simply something new we all still need to understand and adjust to. Your questions are totally legitimate... On Midjourney, you retain every creative and commercial right yourself so you could potentially make money out of it, but give MJ the rights to freely share, redistribute and use your work in perpetuity (even after closing your account). I don't know about the others yet but I will experiment with those too. As per some other comments, I think this will more likely eat the cake of stock images more than others but we'll have to wait and see. Or not wait and do something with it ;)

Fabien, just if helps: I find the videos amazingly created, the visuals, but I tend to find the sound a little bit poor. Certainly far from visuals. If that is just me, forget my comment! So just if someone notices the same. I say that because is a pity because you do beautiful videos. Hope it helps!

Antonio thanks a lot for taking the time to share your feedback. I really need to read these comments to address the problems.
I do struggle with the audio, I think it's clear. The environment I'm in is far from quiet unfortunately and not the best. I tried several options and the difference in backgrounds you see in my recent videos is actually me trying to move around to find the spot that causes less problems. Right now, I have to edit the audio so much that I end up creating even more issues and I'm totally not happy because I want to give you videos worth watching, not pain in the ears. :( Hopefully I'll get there soon. Thank you!

@@fabienb Hi Fabien! Definitively better because doesn’t sound so boxy (half robotic half strange reverb/echo) but it is still very low and on the low frequencies side. Before yours (56mm f1.2 mII) I was watching one video (a guitar unboxing) from a channel called The Guitaristas. If you are on an iPad or on a Laptop/PC, or mobile with headphones, check the difference between yours and that one. Night and day and that could not be me (I hope). Or try to compare with any video from Roman Fox (don’t change the settings and switch between yours and any from Roman). Ask any other person just in case I have bad hearing! 🙏🏼 (many many thanks for asking)
