Glad that Brooks has a good racing shoe. I think a few of these showed up and did well at the US Olympic marathon trials. Also glad to hear there's another runner in the world using the Launch!
CJ Albertson (50K World Record holder) ran 2:11:09 (California CIM) and 2:11:08 (Baja California Marathon) in these shoes. BTW, those two marathons are a week apart. Brooks finally realised that a very stiff carbon plate is not working well with this firmish foam so I think this combination of griddy plate is more successful than their previous incarnations. However, competition is though. I would pick for Endorphin Pro 3/4 instead.
It's interesting that Brooks is doubling down on the super critical EVA as their premium foam. I do like the Hyperion Max and I'm curious to try the Hyperion Max 2 or Hyperion 2.
Appreciate these and the Hoka Rocket xx seem to be the best for a race day special .What is you need a race day shoe for a Half you can also train tempo in .Would you be heading for Superblast or Saucony Speed 4 territory ? Currently training for a Battersea Half should be a around 1:37 -1:38 time . Keep up the good work
Great review. Nice to have real world race feedback. I want to like these along with the Hyperion Max. But I’m a heel striker and I land right on that steep heel bevel and it slaps my forefoot down. Really jarring ride for me so anything from brooks with that sole construction is a no go for me. But glad you liked them and glad to see the improvements from Brooks
I'm glad you found your Brooks true fit your yo size, as I'm a size 5 shoe and size five and a half to most other shoes , but in my 3 pairs of Brooks ghost I'm a size 7 , at £120 they didn't last me long , I went through 2 pairs in around 9 months, as my left foot rolls inwards , the rubber wears put quicker , I don't have any favourite brand of shoe so I always try before I buy , sometimes it's good to change the way you lace up your shoe if it the shoe fits your feet but the shoe needs to be tighter or looser over the lounge of the shoe , and if the laces always come loose on your shoe then it's just a case of changing the laces , I always buy last years designs or even 2 years ago designs it's amazing how much money I save also I buy the shoes to suit my feet not for fashion !!! There I go on a rant again 😂😂😂
"If you're running around in a pair of Launch, like I know somebody is..." Me: I'm that somebody, maybe these ARE the supershoes for me 😂 Seriously though, thanks for the post race review. Helps a bunch.
I'm sure it's because it's bad for your ankle ? As the ankle has to support your feet while running , that's the job the shoes should be doing if my guess is correct

I've never considered a Brooks shoe but will be interested in what new "Tempo Shoe" they have. That may be the Hyperion Max 2....?
I’ve got high hopes for this one

The Launch is a good shoe! I use them for speed workouts. Definitely better shoes out there but they do the job.
That was for one of my clients he adores them

Hey Fordy, why do say that landing there, on that edge is bad?
yeah, I'd say that not having an outsole there is... bad
Why do I say it’s bad? What me striking there?
