I’ve seen so many reviews that hate it that I started thinking I’m being pranked because I love it. I’m big and not very fast, so maybe my use case is just different from a lot of small and fast running reviewers. I also really like a firmer ride, so I guess it’s just one of those things where a shoe that won’t work for a lot of people just hits the spot for me. There’s also something to be said for how people have collectively decided foam has to be PEBAX to be good, so they go in with low expectations. Anyway, glad to see another take.
Yeah I really liked it too and it didn't feel that much different to me from other racing shoes, so I'm a bit surprised at all the negativity. Also it worked well at all of my paces which isn't the case for many marathon racers
The negative reviews are just big PEBA working their propaganda magic. The ride isn’t too firm (unless you 5ft5 and way 100lbs). I 210lbs and mainly golf and weight lift. But running is great for my mental health. Today a 7 miles run on the Elite 4 and feet, legs, body and mind feel great. Too many sheep.

Great review. It’s great to run on flat land after running in CLT! That’s why I do races in Myrtle! Also like the American 4 Miler shirt. We’ve done that race for the past 4 years!
Great review, and kind of along w/ Kofuzi, the first kind of positive take-always. Funny, puma, sketchers, and I believe Nike and NB all play around w/ infused EVA - both nitrogen and otherwise. EVA is still the basis for most midsole foams, aside from Boost and pure Pebax - which has a relatively short lifespan. Loved my cyclone 2s, but they went flat before 250 miles - and I’m only 128 lbs! Kind of disappointed considering the $150 price; and I just sent back my Rebel 4 - great fit, but for me, it was like standing in bread dough - no response from that EVA/peba blend. But, hey, we’re all different - I prefer that proprioceptive feedback and lifespan from from EVA or EVA blends, I guess that’s why I exchanged my Rebels for a Hyperion!
DNA Flash is not a soft foam that you sink in the foam and get a pop, but it is responsive and gets better with use (needs some breaking). Despite the negativity around it (probably the disappointment that Brooks still doesn't have PEBA based shoe), this can't be a bad shoe. CJ Albertson, Brooks Sponsored Athlete holding world 50K record, won two marathons in these back-to-back (CIM and Baja California) in 2:11:09 and 2:11:08 last year.
not a bad foam at all - this felt pretty great to me right out of the box. i only took it up to about 12 miles so i'm looking forward to testing it on a two hour long run soon
Really interesting watching your videos. Good depth and a lot of effort. Also because your views of many shoes are quite contrary to a lot of the reviewers on RUclips. These would deffo be too firm for me but everyones preference is diff 👍🏾

Just picked up a pair of Hyperion Tempos for $65. I like having a firmer (but not harsh) option in the rotation like that for middle effort progression runs (but not top end efforts)…these supercritical EVA foams are good for that where the lower stack options still maintain some good flexibility, though I think that Skechers’ Hyper Burst circa 2018/2019 in the Razor 3 was superior. Brooks’ drop-day pricing just doesn’t match the performance when compared to the rest of the market. Opportunity costs, bro. 😊 But come race day or even a speed session, yeah I’ll be reaching for something else.
Great point on pricing - at the $200 to $225 range I think they'd move a lot more of those. They've got some work to do building a reputation for their performance shoes
I had to return the brooks Hyperion max as it was way to firm. I am a heavier and slower runner and seems brooks prefers a firmer foam which works for a low stack daily trainer but not for me at all on race day type of shoes. Boom 💥 😂 I do use the brooks adrenaline gts for a daily trainer as it’s firm and stable with a high drop and that works nice for slower runs for me.
Seriously… I’ll never go back to EVA or whatever “nitrogen” infused they claim. PEBAX only because I like comfort and fun. Brooks refusing to get with the times.
The Believe in the run guys are going to have a heart attack - they always hating on brook while brooks keep selling a gazilllllliiiioooonnn of shoes... but u know they know better lol
Best looking Brooks shoe I've seen, I'll have to check these out. I feel like this shoe should have been around 6-7 ounces with how minimal it is. The Noosa Tri can do it, with way more material... they should be able to especially at this price.
If you're a fan of the look, they're doing the same colorway in the Hyperion 2 (replacing the Hyperion max 1), Hyperion Max 2 (36mm stack plastic plate shoe, new to lineup), and this Hyperion Elite 4 of course

I’m training for London and Chicago and planning to run in the Cielo X1 - good choice?
I'll need to try that for my next run in the superblast - someone else recommended it too. And yes Cielo x-1 is an absolute beast. Such a fun and comfortable shoe to run in. It's definitely heavier but for a flatter marathon like Chicago I don't think there will be any issues with it. I also took it for a 20+ mile long run in my neighborhood with about 1000 ft elevation gain and could feel the weight on the uphills but the speed assistance makes it worth it

Think it’s funny the sheep must have PEBa in a super shoe, whilst some of the best tempo and daily trainers are still EVA. It’s an arbitrary bias that I reckon over the course of a year, peoples race times wouldn’t notice the difference between peba and eva. Likewise, the feel is firm? Against what metric? Sheep. 🐏
Are you sure about the TPEE/EVA? I asked on a video put out by Brooks and they said just EVA. Nice to know that the DNA Flash V2 is closer to the Mach 6. That foam has a nice balance.

I live in new smyrna beach (about a hour south of jacksonville) i definitely recommend stopping through here next time its the perfect little beach town hidden gem. I actually own a historic hotel called the riverview hotel. Ill hook you up if you ever come through.
Decent shoe, just too bad it's not 2021...would have probably been a huge hit. Now it's just...a decent idea with a bad foam choice. Hopefully Nike doesn't have patents on that upper design and send them the 'ol Cease and Desist letter! LMAO

Hyperion Tempo is one of the best all around running shoes imo! Looks like this would be a good light race day for 10mi!! May 5!

They make the Novablast 4 in that salmon colorway of the Superblast. I picked some up and they are sweet.
