I having PTSD (Past Traumatic Shaoji Disorder) flashback because of this
Shaoji is the culprit behind our trauma from HI3rd, and although painful, I'd rather be traumatized by his story writing style, than be a Genshin player where there's no suffering to make me actually care about characters in the story. I tried hard to keep playing Genshin, but after getting part way through the Sumeru arc, and giving the game a second chance, the story writing was so boring I couldn't bring myself to play it anymore. As a HI3rd Captain, I crave the trauma Shaoji gave us so many times from his story writing, and hate the bland devoid of any emotional suffering Genshin has.
There are 2 things genshin and star rail players shouldn't gaze into.
1. The abyss
2. A honkai impact 3rd veteran's eyes
You'll only see darkness gazing back at you
HI3rd and Houkai Gakuen veterans have a thousand yard stare that's for sure

HI3 didn't show you but many people died when HoV awaken in chapter 9. Maybe two third of population on earth? More than millions for sure.
They do it multiple gimes as well. First in the main storyline and then again at the end of the rebirth storyline (all playable characters end up dying in both) and then you learn in the story that humanity's been getting wiped and time gets reset on a regular basis so everyone's died countless times.

Considering Mihoyo's track record, I'd say Genshin is going well. 'Too well.'
Now, we already have a character who is canonically dead, being Qiqi, but that's beside the point.
I think as we approach the truth, I think things are going to go downhill pretty quickly, and we may lose one of the most important characters in the game.
You see, there has been an interesting theory floating around in the Genshin Lore community that is looking more and more likely as time goes on.
The theory is this, "Of the two, only one remains" that is to say, every time we have heard of or seen any kind of twins/doppelgangers, one of them always dies or disappears.
Once is a happening. Twice, a coincidence, but three times? That's a sign. And this particular theme has happened, to my memory at least SIX TIMES.
Long story short, before Genshin Impact concludes, I predict that we will lose a Traveller.
Wishing it's the abyss twin, I can't watch my son Aether die

Honkai series history has had their Himekos die at some point in every game in the series. Star Rail's the only Honkai game where Himeko hasn't died, yet.

Yeah "honkai players truly knowing":
- Elysia was already dead, that was a SIM, same for the others FM.
- Kallen was always in a multiverse never in the main line.
- Sirin is Kiana alter basically, the character is still Kiana.
- "Teri" was saved by the captain.
* The only char they truly killed was Himeko, but that was old mihoyo, and I am sure they repent a lot, bcse they can't milk her anymore.
* I rather have deep story with tragedy than this BS we have know just to please simps and no-brain players... Genshin lore is childish, and they changed honkai to be the same, "don't want that" you say? "That" was the reason I played before, and the change is the reason I will stop now.
Mihoyo is shoting their feet by trying to change their old tittles to please their new kid audience from genshin.

A death is a death, they had feelings for themselves, their own thoughts apart from their deceased selves.
And no, Kallen died the same way that her "multiverse" self (it was the past, not a multiverse). She got stabbed by that Honkai monster and died. The only difference was that Otto got to revive one and create a new branch for her, thus creating a new Kallen. But his own Kallen is still dead, the *same* way.
@@nemubenzene9138 What you are saying is that if any dead character has their story told, then this mean they "were killed" at the moment the narrative is presented to us, and not on their canonical death time that we were already aware of?...This is ludicrous, you are distorting evident facts to justify your feelings.
- "Kallen was always in the multiverse" means she was just alive there, on the main line she's death from the start, and thus no one would consider that "mihoyo killed her" since she was presented as dead from the start.
- SIMs were just data, even if they were precise replicas this is not different from when Kiana interacted with Cecilia in the simulation, liking or not the SIMs were not considered "alive", the expected range of interaction for them were just the ER were they were basically data with backups.
If you want to consider any death the same as "killing a char", without considering the player expectation or the timeline, than your argument is redundant, bcse chars die in any story at different times, and gnrly means nothing for the audience, even genshin does this.
Now if you consider the "expectation" and timeline, then you have the result I showed you, bcse most players don't perceive this chars as "canonically alive" for them to "be killed".

I find it weird when you play a character that has died in the story. I think when you combine story based world with characters that you can play but already dead in stories it just breaks the immersiveness for me. There's exception for this, a game like CODMW for example, they kill so many characters on that game, but you can still play that characters in multiplayer, but in the story they're just dead you can't play as them, there's a barrier that seperate them so that it doesn't breaks the immersiveness when you play the story. In multiplayer your characters died multiple time and separate from the story so you don't gaf.

Acceptable, but to be fair, the HoV-Side of Kiana isnt really "dead", as she simply retreated into Kianas Head after their final decisive Battle in the Theatre of Domination, and has (i guess) been living there since then, in a simmilar but not same fashion as it was with Seele and Veliona
Btw I find the acceptance of herself in that Battle a really good plot Point for the way HoV as a Character was written. :D Really goes to show just how strong the effects of Elysias Sacrifice and Prometheus hacking the Cocoon are, seeing as even an Embodiement of the Honkai filled with Hatred like HoV is able to change her ways and accept Humanity. Specifically here in HoV's case, as she not only realises again that she and Kiana are both two sides of the same Coin, Sirin, but also accepts herself and reconciles with her own past, remembering the only reason she became that way was her desire for a normal life.
HoV literally tells "Kiana" that she's done well, in the "Graduation Trip" short animation that was the conclusion of main story part 1. Which is debatable of wherever it's canon or not, as most main villains of their respective story arcs come back from the dead in that animation to meet up with Kiana. I kinda agree with you that HoV never truly ceased to exist, she merely went dormant after losing to "Kiana".

Genshins character story quest kind of make it impossible to kill playable characters. If they die during the main quest, the character quest would either be imersion breaking or it would have to be their funeral. If they lock the main quest until you finished the character story quest, its literally telling you that something is happening to them. And tbh, who would want to do a specific character quest first before getting to know a little about them in the main quest first

Nah, what i mean is for example you play the Archon quest and Navia actually did die. Then you play her story quest and she is totally fine. That just doesnt work. Archon quest are on a continuing timeline that you have to play one after another so that is a timeline. But character story quest take place in the present but are things you can do whenver you want in whatever order you want so it sometimes wont make sense if a character is dead.
@@iewad8761 Easy solution: Character doesn't die until at least one patch after their story quest. Then, if you do their story quest after they die, it's Paimon and the traveler reminiscing on a memory. If you do the story quest before they die in the archon quest, it's treated as in real time.

The person named Ajax died and his brother, who was also named Teucer like Tartaglia's, basically followed in his footsteps afterward. People insist that Tartaglia being named Ajax is a death flag because of that.

I was mopping the floor on HI3rd until i reached the elysian realm chapter and thus speak apocalypse chapter, though himeko's death was a hard blow but the flamechasers and otto's story was too much to bear. I would turn the world 500 years backwards even if it makes me the greatest villain of all time
Otto truly was the best written villain in fiction period. Even though I like Sirin more. Otto uses none of the traditional villain tropes, and therefore, feels mortal and real to us the players, to the point that while we don't forgive his actions, nor justify them, we can feel sad for him. I still to this day often sing "Regression" while at home, in memory of Otto, and the fact I can relate to the pain of losing someone I deeply care about irl

All male Flame Chasers count as NPC's and their story of them dying and their sims dying again...I cried more than any story of Genshin Impact tbh

Kalpas, Kevin, Kosma, Su, Owl, Welt, Welt Joyce, Siegfried and Otto looked like future playable characters...but y'know, no playable men allowed in HI3 because of the CN fanbase😔

Idk but the backsound is so distrubing for me😭 I don't really know about Honkai, plus I've never really pay attention to Honkai Star Rail's story because there are too many theories. The fact that I know, they often killed their playable character, thats it.
As long as the Genshin team who wrote the story script is not held by *that* person, the story will be safe. They only dare to kill clones of playable characters lol (ex: Focalor and Rukhadevata)
Meh. Majority of those "deaths" are AI sims of already dead people / alternative versions of main story characters, this doesn't really count. Hoyo community being overly sensitive as usual.
Eden and Aponia's death I showed here were when they died on the Previous Era, not their sims.
I only showed like 2 sims deaths, TWO out of SEVENTEEN (and the whole earth getting destroyed)

Not only do I find Final Fantasy's story writing so bland I cannot care about the franchise nor be concerned about the characters, but I've seen Aerith's death scene so many times (because it happened to be in videos I've watched), that I cannot feel anything about her. Dragon Quest however, I have a heavy attachment to that franchise, and cried when playing Dragon Quest 11 when the game's story had the loss of someone I didn't know for very long.

Genshin has deaths but most of it is in side quests and not on full display, so they're pretty sneaky with it.
There's the Tsurumi Island quest, Golden Slumber, Zhiqiong, Alphonse (by our own hand if you choose), that one organizer in the Fungi Pokemon event etc.
It's in Fontaine where they start to bring that darker stuff on screen.
Key word: *PLAYABLE*
Honkai also has *a lot* more deaths apart from playable characters, HotE even wiped out earth completely more than once, just to reset the timeline💀
I mean, they did kill non playable characters too, one being our soldier friend Teppei, poor Teppei, i miss Teppei.

It's not stress, we're just sad about characters deaths, just like a Normal person watching a movie and being sad when a good person in said movie dies.

I played hi3 and its not sad as you guys made out to be. The sadness is kinda shounen anime level but not sad as mainstream ones like Aot or Naruto. Honestly I feel attach to genshin NPCs more than hi3 chars because their life is realistic and some of them are relatable to us adults.
I believe that it's subjective.
I cried a lot when seeing Otto in his last moments.
I cried when I saw Himeko sacrificing herself.
I cried when I saw her giving hope to Kiana when Kiana was about to kill herself.
I cried when the game made us kill an helpless kid with HoC.
I cried when Kalpas was refusing to die even tho he was 100% corrupted.
I cried when Pardo sacrificed and got disintegrated by Kevin's power because she was holding the portal open.
Honkai's story is subjective, many people feel it sad, some don't, it is what it is.
Just because you cry over spilled milk, doesn't mean I will - now if I truly learned and understood the precipice behind all the sayings about milk and its lifetime, I would cry more than you did!
