What if after a surgery a patient is given Heparin for 14 - 21 days while hospitalized, it gets missed but found once discharged through a platelet count of 11,000 and then immediately re-admitted and put on an alternative thinner. Can Heparin - Induced Skin Necrosis and Thromboypenia surface years later?
Rx: -Stop Heparin -Give a direct Thrombin (IIa) inhibitors-ARGATROBAN -Do not Switch to LMWH -Do not give WARFARIN (until platelet count Normalizes) -Do not give Platelet (until severe life threatening bleeding)
I hoped and wanted to see a good explanation about the mechanism of HIT. I wanted to see more about biochemistry and immunology. Unfortunately, the video focused just on the disease itself
Exactly what I needed for nursing school. Much clearer than my textbook and teacher. Thank you!
Super helpful my father died from HIT after having a triple bypass . I truly believe Kaiser missed it. And dropped the ball
Well done 👏
Good explanation.
Great explanation
