"bruised, opened up to their wet white ribs" and this just inspired me to write a poem - which I haven't done in a really, really long time
YES! I love when a poem inspires me to write! It's such a gift. - Paige
I know it's been a minute, but would you possibly share it?? I'd love to read it if you're comfortable
4016 is the code for Red Delicious
Now I can never eat an apple without thinking of this, amazing!!
What about watching someone else eat an apple?

“A knife making love to the wound” doesn’t sound romantic. It sounds violent and painful. It transformed the poem (in my mind) to something sadistic; a finding of joy in the pain of others, possibly in someone who loves so much they do not leave despite the abuse. What does the writer really mean in the poem?
I can’t tell if this poem made me sob because it was such a good poem, or just because I oh so desperately needed a good cry
Wow! I'm devoured! 😍🍎✨
Aaaaah what a great few minutes 😍
The language of this poem is rather at odds with how terrible Red Delicious are.
Maybe it was a McIntosh, then.
I loved it. So beautiful.
whew! fans self
I've never wanted to be an apple so badly
Really sorry I know this is a tricky question, but for my university Voice course I have to pick a poem and write it out and also give historical context on the poet and the poem. I have found this link where Natalie briefly talked about "I Watch Her Eat the Apple" (sycamorereview.com/2019/05/28/natalie-diaz/ ), that gives a bit of detail on what she is trying to say with the poem, but I was wondering if anyone has any information to what this poem is based off of and why she wrote it?
Did you find the answers? How did you fare in your university course?
Wow! This one blew me away
Nice poem!
Woah
I wish Natalie Diaz would just stop making all my attempts at poetry null and void. She's too good. I feel like I don't deserve her work.
Her apple is NOT McIntosh. 4016 is Red Delicious.
I really enjoy this channel and am enjoying the poetry however, I can't help but notice how all the readers read with the same cadence. I would have thought there would be more of a variety of reading, inflection and emphasis. Is poetry meant to be read so.... blandly? Gary Dop's reading was excellent though.
