This absolutely works. I did it a couple of days ago and worked first time.
You may need to restart the PC a second time if the account doesn't seem to have disappeared.

I tried your first video, and as you stated updated machines had issues with that fix.... as was mine, this one worked nicely, my only issue was getting it to boot to USB, had to switch to legacy mode to get it to boot. I forgot the password to this old, duct taped laptop I only use it 3 months out of the year to run my 45 thousand Christmas light show... You young man have saved Christmas here for thousands of people... Subscribed...

I keep getting an error: "SAM file opened read-only, so changes cannot be saved. Modify file attributes/permissions to allow wrote access". I tried making the changes but read-only is no selected. ????

It didn't work for me - unless I'm missing something. Obviously I have a lot of new knowledge to glean. If things didn't work, I found a work-around to make it work. Pressing f12 only allows me into GUI rather than text on the screen. I've changed boot order to the USB drive first and nothing works! Any advice is welcomed!!! Now I'm going to take a nap because I'm so frustrated. I thought I could help a friend. SMH

Most important = Admin. Password - gets the 'Welcome' screen.

I tried many times, doesn't work on lenovo ideapad3.. I can't get pass my admin screen each time I restart and click on the usb drive, it just takes me back to the password screen

Note: if after attempting to boot to Hiren’s boot cd, you get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death), then go back to rufus and redo the bootable flash drive.

There's malware being installed, either with Rufus or from the ISO provided. Checked twice, same result.

Tested today (mid june 2022) NOT WORKING for the latest WIN 10 HOME ED ;( NT password soft can NOT change the enter password. It's protected. So SAD !

if your system drive has been bit-locked, and you do not have the bit-lock key, NTPEdit will be not able to access the system accounts.

I would simply add, that I believe that the ability to find the current password, should be removed, so that it cannot be used to find the password of another users PC. If it's your PC that your using it on, then you can simply reset your own password. This way, if someone did that to another users PC, then that user would simply be locked out, and wonder why they could no longer access their computer, instead of whoever used HBD, gaining access to the current owners password, and using it for nefarious purposes. NOTE: If you want to make sure this cannot be done, then go into your bios, and password your setup and you might as well password the administrator account, while your at it.

As I've already mentioned in your 2019 same tutorial Hiren's Boot CD doesn't work with Ventoy so, for Ventoy you'll gonna need a separate flash drive, consequently is a no no!
