Thanks, Brian. Colticules are natural hones, so there is not really a grit rating for them. Most honers agree that they are equivalent around 8k or so. But the use of slurry, water, and other things like soap, etc., can "adjust" that a bit.
If the diamond card is well worn, that won't happen. It is done all the time. I take a heavy piece of steel to the card before it ever hits a stone. Thanks for watching.

Never use a diamond card or plate for a slurry stone as it could release diamonds onto the coticule and damage your edge.
