- Happy New Year everyone, I hope you are all well and trust you had an amazing break over Christmas.
Regular Viewers will know that I love the solitude of a quiet campsite and hike. And January is one of the best times to get out in your van if you are after piece and quiet...
I have set the bar high with the first camp of 2024 but there are plenty more adventures and campsites booked in the diary for you guys to feast your eyes on.
Enjoy, stay awesome and above all, be kind!

Another fantastic video thank you and definitely good for the soul one of my favourites this one ☝️
Just watched this video. Not stayed at this site yet but met the lovely owners last summer after they rescued/kindly stopped and gave us a lift. Such genuine lovely people will definitely be booking this year.
The word "forest" was origionally used to describe the land used as the hunting ground for the king or lords and nobility of the times during the mediaeval period. They were the only people allowed to hunt on that land.
Ah, now life feels back to normal. Glad you're back 😊
Loved the montage! Although, strictly speaking, with you being partly a vanlife channel, it should've included some slow-motion coffee brewing! 🙃
Also, judging by the empty campsite, no other bugger has missed camping nearly as much as you! 🤣
Also, also, if I may further assume the role of RUclips comments smartarse, historically a forest was just an area of reserved land. Usually for royals to hunt. (Boo!)
Happy new year! 🥂
Hahaha slow mo coffee brewing will be in a future video then 🤣🤣!
I think I'm the only dufus that will go out in this weather. Promoting winter camping for solitude while simultaneously advertising it to 20k people on the Internet 🤣🤣!
Thanks for the info re: the forest, I had no idea! 🤣
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Every day's a school day! 😉
Oh it is so lovely to share in your enthusiasm as you explore more campsites and have more adventures. You are ace!!!!! Well done and look forward to more videos!
Thanks so much :)
Brilliant as ever Colin - cheers buddy!
Love your video!! Especially the cows and outtakes!! Ps my shower at homes not that good!
Site looks brilliant! P.s it's tea not dinner :)
Living the dream pal ❤❤
Loving your work.
We are staying at another one not too far away from this one at the end of feb. Would of booked this one if I had known as apparently the showers are awesome 🤩 Niiiice 👍😎
Great vlog Colin, missed the banter, the quiff and the outtakes. Great start to 2024 😂
Envious of your trip - can't wait for our new van so we can go away again! Great looking little site but I guess we wont be able to get a slot until next year after this review!
Cheers Colin! 👍
Lovely camp site col . What happened to your diesel heater ?
Thanks buddy, one of the fuel lines split. Twas a very simple fix (not enough for a video sadly) but I mention in in a video about 3 weeks from now ;)
Super video, I need to get that dehumidifier! Been on my mind for the past week. Picked up our new van yesterday and will be a good addition. Oh and I had to pick up some pot noodles!!
Thank you Colin! What amazing showers! Good to see you back!
Hi Colin, just thought you might like to know that the term forest just referred to a royal hunting area and not necessarily a wooded area. That's according to the book I've just read.
I love going away in our campervan, I also love going away in our caravan but this January we decided to go to Manchester, got on a big aeroplane and flew to Benidorm to get away from this miserable fridge that is the UK at the moment.
I v miss my Friday nite good to see you🎉
Good to see you back Col and loved the montage!
Nice to see you've remembered how to get set up Col... Nice to see ya back out n about.
Thanks for sharing I've just sent an email to book on the site. Looks amazing x
Another one for our list Colin. Thanks
Welcome back Colin and quiff looking at booking that site looks great
wellcome bk buddy
It is great you are back 👍👍
Good. To have you back mate love the campsite review videos
So glad to have you back, Fiona and I have missed you!
Glad to see you back. I take it the shower was just about OK then 😂
Did I mention the shower? Not sure I did 🤣🤣
Ace that mate 👌👍
Thanks buddy... hope you're well and getting some good hikes in
Great Video to kick off 2024 with Colin! Here's to many more campsite tours and adventures along the way! #Nice
Fantastic video . Great music , camera angles and love the montage !!
Dave and I reakon your earning more now since you had a pot noodle rather than a snack noodle !!!!
Love the outside / inside space of the campsite .
Good luck for the coming year 👍
Haha yes adsense now pays me £3.50 extra per month so pot noodle all the way 😂😂!
Thanks so much, I spent ages editing this (and the next two). Big changes coming on the channel. Lots of pre video scripting, info and locations and I cant wait!
Stay awesome you guys and hopefully we can do a firepit and beers at some point this year ;)
Anytime , that would be great 👍
But no 11 mile walk 😂
Fantastic area for a walk Colin, lovely views. When I’m walking or out for the day on the bike I always take my stove, so nice to have a hot coffee and some food sat somewhere out of the way. Great video as always. Atb…
Thanks matey, I can't believe I haven't taken the stove with me on walks before now! Absolute game changer for a hot cuppa on the go..
Have a cracking weekend
I love PAYG electric. I've only ever spent £1 a day at 35p per kWh and that's with everything on. I think for campervans it's the way ahead!
Based on your recommendation I have booked for a couple of nights in March. Hope it has dried up by then for walking with the dog.
Nice!
that site looks amazing and so unique, very carefully thought out! Will be visiting
About time too :)
What a lovely little site. Thanks for the tour 🤠
Nice to see you out again. I was out in the Dales at -10 last week, I love the outdoors. Nice Rap lmao & cheers for sharing the route / Location on my list to get to in the next month. If you don't mind can you tell me which dehumidifier you are using please.
Shorts weather -10 😂😂! Thanks so much, im loving being out again!
Here is the link to the dehumidifier I use its not perfect but it does a good job for the price

Great to see you back and looking so chilled 😀the break has done you good by the looks, thanks for the tour , another site for the list 😀Steve & Mandy
Ah thank you thats lovely of you to say... :)
Would love food videos!
Hi! Nice views 😊 But winter without snow 😉
I know right.... Week after next includes lots of snow :)
Trying the Station Inn at Ribblehead on your recommendation
Sat by the fire after a walk up Whernside
Epic
Ah amazing... its an epic pub to get warm in after a good walk isn’t it? Enjoy!
Great to see you again Colin. Hope you all had a good Christmas/New Year. That looked a lovely walk apart from the mud but everywhere seems to be sodden at the moment. Nice camp site but I imagine it will be hard to get booked on it as it’s not so big. Have a good weekend. 💕🐾💕🐾
Ah the mud 😂😂! I think I've had my mud fill for the year now 🤣🤣! Thanks so much for watching and commenting again!
I think during the week it's pretty quiet but I know that they are pretty booked up for groups on weekends for a lot of the main season!
Have a great weekend
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures 👍💕🐾💕🐾
Hi Colin, great vid as always; whar backpack is that
Hey buddy thank you.. its the flipside 450 by Lowepro, a great bag
Yeahhhh he’s back. Getting withdrawal symptoms but vans out of action for couple weeks 😢
Ah man, glad that you're glad I'm back but hope your van comes back soon buddy!
you have no idea, but fingers crossed bit back next week and it sorts the problem then just to get through MOT mid-Feb. Thankfully still getting solo walks in the Mourne Mountains as kept my Golf as a owes me nothing run around. @@Yorkshirepoptopadventures
Hi Col, great content as usual 👍🏽…if you wouldn’t mind me asking, what make are the internal windscreen covers you’re using? Seen some Olpro ones that I’m thinking of getting, they look like the ones you have.
Hey, Thanks so much... yep they are Olpro. I had to buy different suckers as the ones supplied aren't very good but there are loads of "spare suckers" on amazon to choose from..
Here are the ones i have

Hi Colin! When you were on the bench and the stove came out, I thought, here comes a Pot Noodle. Slightly disappointed, mate? That looks to have the makings of a great site already.
Do you have a link to your firepit and mat, please?
Keep up the good work.
Haha I did think about it, but one pot noddle when I go camping is more than enough 😂😂!
It is a fab site isn't it...
Anyway here are the links

Hope you enjoyed your break Colin. And had a good new year with family. Just parked my stuff for my first adventure off the year 😊 ps the dales is god country by far
Its the centre of the universe buddy haha!! Thanks so much, hope you did too
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures sure did thanks, past to quick as always.
Hi Col, good to see ya back… What humidifier do you use? Many thanks in advance.
Hey buddy, thank you! I use this exact one amzn.to/3uaCd8I
A word of warning don’t stack logs close to log burners its a house fire waiting to happen👍
Great advice for those reading this comment. However, our fire is blocked off and basically just an ornament so there is no risk... :) Have an ace weekend
Hiya Col! Noticed when you arrived to the site you’ve got some nice bright headlights. Are these upgraded units, or just better bulbs? If the latter, what did you go for please?
Hiya,
So I changed the bulbs in the daytime running lights (not the main lights) for LEDs from Halfords... The main headlights are nightbreaker lights, better than the stock ones but I think the transporter HQ ones are much better having seen them on other people's vans.. sadly though, those are out of my price range
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures thanks for the reply! I'm assuming LED DRLs don't impact the MOT? I'm looking to change my bulbs as the stock candles on my T6 are close to useless, and similar to you the THQ ones are sadly not an option!
No problem at all...
I've had 3 MOTs since putting them in an they haven't been mentioned to I guess the DRLs are OK to be LED.
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures ah great stuff, I'll take a look at changing them out then! Cheers Col 😁
Clearly you need to work on your press ups, and you need to see a doctor if your eggs are glowing in different colours and hanging off your bike seat. 🤣
Good to see you back, and I will park this one on my list of places to do when I have time to get out in my van again.
10th Jan and you only have 100 miles on the bike - my wattbike has been hit with 18 - 25 per day since the turn of the year - less two rest days (Sometimes I have to go into the office early 🤣) clearly you have gone lightweight.
Haha, a cyclist doesnt do press ups haha! 100 miles was on the 11th Jan, I am at 250 now :) More to come but I dont want to over do it just yet, ive been off the bike for such a long time I think its best to ease my way in. Before you know it, ill be smashing 100 miles a week again like before!
Its a super campsite and loads more to come to add to your list :)
Have a great weekend buddy
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures Enjoy your weekend too.
I knocked out 18 miles today on the wattbike - 10 as a flat run, and an 8 mile Hiit session. Then did a 5 mile walk when I finished work.
Hoping to get the van out tomorrow and visit the South East coast.
Colin, do you ever bother with thermal blinds or do you just use your curtains ?
@Mikeandtheboys hey buddy, I don't bother mate, too much faffing 🤣🤣! Just a good sleeping bag and the heater and I'm good :)
Hi Colin, very interested in where you got the transporter lettering across the rear doors?
Are they standard size or bigger than normal?
Many thanks Alex
Hey alex,
They are from eBay (I just searched for transporter lettering in black and quite a few came up) they are standard size, just spread out ;)
Hope that helps
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures sweet thanks mate
The site looks bob on,not so sure about the walk though 😂. How far away was the hook up ?
Its a lovely site, the hook up (at the moment) is about 30 meters away) but they were installing one right next to where I was camped while I was there (about 10ft away)
Hope that helps and have a super weekend
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures cheers fella
Hi Colin. Think you're bit out with your suggestion for pricing site
I'm just booking on ccc site
4 nights at Woodhall Spa. Followed by 4 nights at Sandringham
Total £132
=£16.50 night
This for April. Realise I have some oap discount though. But still lot under your site
Inc electric
Its a good price that bud... im not a huge fan of the ccc sites but I have a video coming up where I stay at one to see if it will change my mind ;) have a good one when you go buddy!
Thanks Colin , Great video. Quick question. I followed you link to the campsite, but is only seemed to have details of whole site bookings. Is it not possible to book for just 2. Also do they take dogs?
Thank you, if you book via pitch up it should let you book for an individual pitch! They are quite busy though (with group bookings) at weekend so you might struggle... weekdays should be totally fine though.
Yes they take dogs too ;)
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures thanks that’s brill
Weird question Colin, but what hiking trousers do you have ?!😊
Haha thats the kind of question I ask, so it's either not weird or we're both weird 😂
These are the exact ones I have. I've had them a while now and the zips have failed but great when they were new!
amzn.to/3Ug07dq
You always give me urges for pot noodle. Maybe rename the channel Pot Top Adventures?
First in finally 😂
Haha, well done! See if you can do it again next week :)
@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures 😂 I was literally on tube then last night. God knows where that normally person was. Out for a laugh
Weird question Colin, but what hiking trousers do you have..
More weird that you asked it twice 🤣🤣
Can I ask what thermals you had? We're they bottoms, x
Yeah they are bottoms and were at the counter in primark in Leeds. They don't have a "brand" like most of the primark stuff but totally worth getting
Great thank you, I'm going to the site you went to, looks amazing, thanks for your videos , they are a great help..
Was was it called? Lol
Hahaha I couldn't find the word for wind break 🤣🤣
Campsite: yeah cause you can do maintenance work nobody is daft enough to camp in win....oh wait!
Hahaha, thats EXACTLY me haha!
Please, please don't stack your logs either side of your burner at home!
Don't worry. it's just an ornament, it's not in use! Great advice for anyone reading this though bud!
Have a great weekend
